This is a fantastic well restored old building on the edge of Markethill village, blink and you will miss it!
A firm favourite with older folk as it offers traditional dinners midday from the specials board, and the standard soup, sandwiches, toasties and chips etc. All incredibly fresh and homemade chippies too, plus you will get a massive pot of tea with your order which is most important.
Breakfast available 9 till 11 and for Gods sake don't expect a big fry up at 11.10, they are sticklers for time and that would be my big thumbs down for this place, the opening hours are DISMAL.
We sat outside one Saturday morning till about 9.20 before they opened up, and are closed Sundays (?) which is a bit of a mistake as we need to eat on Sundays too, they close all the bank holidays and any other excuse as far as I can see.
Some of the staff need to attend charm school as they are a bit sour looking at times, and don't laugh at my jokes (which are very funny)
Other than that the food is excellent, fresh, tasty and there is always plenty of heat on which is important in older buildings as we get on in years...
I like the Courthouse very much, if they would extend their opening hours to accommodate people that work and get weekends off they would be onto a winner. read more
