    Stuffed mushrooms

The ambience is great! The food is absolutely horrible. Picture of our stuffed mushrooms . The fillet mignon was not a fillet mignon. Staff were friendly and we loved our room. I would definitely recommend for the wine and the stay but not the restaurant.

When you arrive at this quaint restaurant and Inn you are instantly transported to another era in Scotland. But first you need to find it. Yelp's directions are wrong. Look at the pictures I have included at the bottom and put those in your GPS. Service and ambiance is outstanding. Food, eh. A chef should know you view your dinner first with your eyes, then with taste and smell. Plating was not the best. Definitely lacking. My husband got the steak sandwich that tasted fine, but was crammed into a small plate and accompanied by an additional plate for lettuce and tomato in case you wanted them on your sandwich. It was very awkward to eat. My very large house salad with Korean beef was served in a medium bowl that was already spilling over when served. Plus, the first thing I saw in this overstuffed bowl were green/gray oxidized hard boiled eggs. Yum, NOT. Eating this had salad flying everywhere. I must say the blue cheese was outstanding. It was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed my glass of AppleResliing.

Marinated Teriyaki and Korean Beef with Stuffed Baked potato

Home Grown good ole country food! So, I must admit, this restaurant was one of the coolest restaurants I've seen in a very long time! It has a Scottish feel to it, although I've never been to Scotland, I will compare it to German restaurants. It is very cool, on the outside it is surrounded by trees and that's exactly what the restaurant is built around, so you will see natural live trees on the inside of the restaurant. The food was AMAZING! I mean there was no other way to explain it. I ordered the teriyaki turkey and Korean beef with the stuffed loaded baked potato! OMG! The taste was one of a kind for sure. I also had the sweet tea and whooooo, boy do I miss the sweet tea from North Carolina! The service was great as well. While we were waiting for our food, I went to the back and did a small wine tasting. I purchased a small wine glass with several bottles of wine, in addition to two jars of homemade moonshine jam! Holy cow! I was able to ship this back to Vegas! I can't wait for it to get here! I would definitely say, if you're anywhere in North Carolina or plan to make a trip, that would be the place to visit. It's a lovely, nice, homegrown restaurant and wine shop with other small trinkets to buy if you're interested. Lastly, the most important part is me being home with my father's side of the family. Family is all we have so take as much time as you can with your loved ones. Until next time...please like and follow me if you enjoyed my review

Incredible atmosphere and service. This place is super cool and has a lot of options. The food was fresh but not quite as tasty as we had hoped and definitely not worth the price (for the food--I'd go back for the service and atmosphere). For appetizers,, onion rings were great. The Korean beef had good flavor but the larger bites were undercooked and the cut was tough. Salads were good--they had homemade dressings. The blue cheese was good but much different than most. The Italian was enjoyed. The filets were good and cooked well. Not a lot of seasoning and the bacon around it was too wobbly for me. The potatoes were good and we all liked the homemade butter and rolls. Desert was the highlight. Apple pie with ice cream and cheesecake.

    Sitting area in restaurant.

Very cute place. I enjoyed the wine. Staff is all friendly. I appreciated that they had actual half & half in the rooms for morning coffee instead of powdered junk.

We came for our anniversary dinner. Its been closed all the other times we stopped in. The place is lit with candles. So dark and intimate. They offered free wine tastings. Wine tastings are always fun, regardless of your take of wine. I found a couple I did like. They are a little sweet for me. They have a little veggie platter with dinner. Turkey glazed appetizer- yum!- I got prime rib. Stuffed potato. With salad. Hubby had pork chop and same sides. They make their own dressings! The blue cheese was amazing. Tell them how much you want lol. They bring all these little dishes to plop extra of any needed condiments- dressings, sour cream, butter, bacon... Staff was great. We enjoyed the time and it was refreshing to eat someplace else for a change.

Note: This review is for their wine. Excellent flavor, price, and wine selection. At the NC Pickle Festival in Mount Olive the Country Squire Winery tent caught our eye. After, tasting some of the fair's unique creations (like pickle beer), we were looking forward to trying some wine. The tent was well run with employees working each side. As a result, we quickly reached the front of the line. The menu could be easily viewed while in line and was posted at multiple sides of the tent. When we reached the front, one of the friendly, enthusiastic employees greeted us and informed us of the wines available. She allowed us to taste multiple wines. The blackberry and Granddaddy's Smokehouse blend were incredible. Both had rich, full flavor. The blackberry was more like a juice and tasted just like blackberries. The Smokehouse blend was like a bourbon wine. Prices are reasonable. Overall, we had a good experience here and recommend Country Squire Wine to others!

I have never been to this place, BUT I got their Granddaddy's Smokehouse white wine, I love it so much!! It is a table wine and has 11% vcol, but you barely taste the alcohol, and it's pretty sweet with smoky undertone, smooth and mild. if you are like me don't really like alcohol but enjoy the flavor and being a little tipsy so you enjoy a relaxing good time with friends, this is the one to go for. Looking at the picture, I really want to visit this place.

We went here for my birthday and stayed at the Inn. Let me describe the package. 1 night King bed, tickets to the local museum, wine tasting, 1 bottle of wine to take home, $40 off of your dinner, and 2 glasses of wine included with dinner for $150 -- WHAT A STEAL Let's start with the accommodations. This place was built in the 60's and has a rustic Scottish vibe. I didn't take any pictures of our room but it was wonderful. In a wooded area with the most gorgeous view. The staff were amazing. So friendly and hands on. The owner was there and gave us a tour and the history of the business. You could really see how much of her heart she has poured into this place. They made a point to make every guest feel like family, and we definitely did. The wine tasting was great and I was VERY impressed with their selection. All of the wine was outstanding. We chose a blackberry wine for our bottle and blueberry wine for our 2 glasses with dinner. The dinner was such an experience. I ordered a Caesar salad which they made right at the table. It had real anchovies and egg in it. A lot of places will use artificial or substitute to cut on cost. She cooked the egg and anchovies with lemon juice which was so super cool to watch. I wasn't sure what to order so they cooked some sample portions and allowed me to try. I decided on the Korean beef and turkey and OMG! It was melt in your mouth fantastic. Since it was my birthday they finished the meal with pound cake and ice cream that was delicious. The next day we came back to the restaurant for Sunday brunch. Since we had such a heavy dinner I wanted a light lunch. I got the chicken salad and fruit platter and it was exactly what I was looking for. We have decided we will try to make coming to the Country Squire a yearly tradition. This is a small business that deserves all of the support and love.

First I will say that the restaurant has a romantic ambiance and the food and wine is very good. The staff were very friendly. However the attached decades old motel style lodging needs a huge remodel. Faded and outdated furniture, unsafe wiring on hanging light. No security latch on door. Had to lift the toilet lid to stop it from running to discover it full of black mold. I am sure that in the past this facility was the place to go before the bypass to I-40 was built.

The 3 delicious bottles I purchased.

The food was good. The salad bar was complete, well maintained, and attractive. The lettuce was crisp, onions were sliced, and tomatoes were firm. Even the dressings were properly stirred and containers were cleaned of any spills. Nice! The Ribeye was cooked to perfection and had been properly seasoned. The baked potato was served pre-split, yet was siping hot. Even the Texas Toast was perfectly prepared and served hot. A big improvement from last trip! Bravo! The server was polite, yet very busy. When I arrived, she appeared to be the only one on duty. About 15 minutes after 12 noon, a second server appeared and seemed to add some much needed help. Ambiance had improved. Although furnishings were the same, everything had been deep-cleaned, from floor to ceiling. Nice job! I'll be back!

First things first: be prepared to spend some money…read more Second: do not expect fine dining. You can spend the same amount at places like Ruth's Chris, Sullivan's, or Angus Barn and get nicer décor and a more polished atmosphere. If you come to Beefmastor Inn expecting an upscale experience, you'll likely be disappointed -- and you'll probably complain about the tight seating, the long wait, the plastic tablecloths, or the iceberg lettuce. That said, Beefmastor has a charm that's hard to deny -- even if it can feel off-putting at first. The place is small and spartan. On busy nights, you will wait. You might end up seated near the bathroom. It's not intimate, and it's not glamorous. What it is, however, is the polar opposite of pretentious. Every inch of the place feels like old-school North Carolina: cinderblock walls, checkered plastic tablecloths, cottage cheese and raisins on the salad bar. The food is straightforward and unembellished. To be honest, I've had better steaks. I ordered the 10 oz., and it was a bit inconsistent -- velvety in parts, gristly in others, and slightly under-seasoned. But what I appreciated most was the feeling of stepping into a time machine. It felt like a snapshot of a different era -- before towns like Wilson faded and before chain restaurants took over every strip mall. Beefmastor Inn isn't perfect. My meal wasn't perfect. The service wasn't perfect. And it's not cheap. Still, I genuinely enjoyed the experience, and I think it's worth visiting at least once. If you have boomer family members, I can almost guarantee they'll absolutely love it.

The Beefmastor Inn is one of those places you go to on purpose -- a local legend and destination…read morespot for steak lovers. The inside is cozier and nicer than you'd expect from the unassuming exterior, and it has a certain old-school charm. We waited about an hour for our table (which we expected), and tailgated outside like many others. When we were called in, we were simply pointed to our table -- no greeting, no welcome -- which set the tone. We mentioned it was our first time, but instead of getting a warm explanation of how things work, the staff seemed a little annoyed that we needed the "first-timer" rundown. That was disappointing. The salad bar was a nice surprise -- good variety and the ability to use toppings from it for your baked potato was a bonus. Now, the steak: cooked exactly to order and clearly high-quality meat. But there was zero seasoning -- not even salt or pepper -- which was underwhelming given the price tag. For the two of us, one 10 oz and one 16 oz steak, the bill was just over $150 with a water and a soda, no drinks. That's steep for a no-frills experience. For comparison, we recently paid just $50 more at a barn-themed steakhouse in Raleigh that included drinks, apps, dessert, and attentive service over a relaxed two-hour meal. Bottom line: I'm glad we tried it, and the beef speaks for itself -- but the service and overall value didn't live up to the hype. Wouldn't go out of my way to return.

There were plenty of staff members, and they worked together to keep things running smoothly. My waiter was friendly and attentive. I got the filet mignon with a baked potato and a strawberry salad. I had iced tea here, and they even gave me one to take with me. The filet and the potato were so filling that I saved the salad for breakfast the next day. It was still very good. Personally, I think they have the best dry-rub wings of any place I've had them. It's not fair to compare Longhorn to the fancy and very expensive steakhouses you find in Chicago, LA, or NY. I've eaten at many $150-200 dollar-a-plate steak houses, and many are very good, but it's simply not the same. Longhorn offers a more traditional Texan-style steak that is not pretentious, and the presentation is casual, as is everyone eating there. Some fancy steakhouses or chop houses require a suit or sportcoat, often served by crusty old men who know their steaks and have been serving for decades. This is not Longhorn, either. Longhorn has gone up in price, thinned out the menu, and reduced the sizes of the portions much like everyone else. Against that standard and price point, they offer a good product, friendly staff, and comfortable setting we appreciate.
