For Lindsay's Kitchen: My main complaint is that we waited over 1 HOUR to be served our food. Other tables were complaining as well. When our food finally came and we asked why there was such a long wait, our server told us that the chef had nausea and was in the bathroom for a long time???? Being served by a sick chef is gross? We would've left and went somewhere else. Apparently they ran out of hashbrowns after we all ordered, so we all had to choose something else for our side. The utensils were dirty. read more

This is a lovely Cornish gem, clean and bright with amazing food. My friend and I contentedly waited on the wide veranda overlooking the town. We arrived late, around 1030, there was quite a wait. If you're in a hurry, go early, especially on a Sunday. We ended up with brunch rather than breakfast, but we expected as much due to these crazy times we live in. The food was well worth the wait. I had the Portuguese sweetbread French toast. Not your average French toast at all, it was perfection, light and delicious. For me the fruit was plenty of sweetness, but there was a side of whisky infused maple syrup which I did sample, it was amazing. It also came with a side of sausage. I asked for bacon instead it was wonderfully crisply, thick cut and very generously portioned. My friend opted for something from the lunch menu and got the Berry Salad, and the jumbo cinnamon roll. She said everything was fresh and delicious. The servers were busy but friendly and attentive. Everyone was working so hard to accommodate. Well worth the wait, but next time we are going early!! read more

My husband and I were traveling to Maine for a wedding. We had a reservation at the Cornish Inn for Aug 4th and 5th. Unfortunately I made the reservation through booking.com and when we arrived our reservation was cancelled. Anna was very accommodating and showed real concern for our situation. There was a vacant room, which we stayed in , and Anna gave us a credit for Lindsay's restaurant for breakfast. Anna also tried to find someplace with rooms closer to Portland. Anna was very helpful and a delight. We appreciated her concern and if I'm ever in that area again, I would gladly stay at The Cornish Inn but, (not using booking.com). read more

Lindsay's Kitchen, located in the Cornish Inn--so good! We went there for brunch. They don't take reservations, and usually have a wait...but it's well worth it! The server told us they were going to start dinner in a few weeks, that would require a reservation. So we definitely will go back for that. I got a side of French toast, and the three egg omelette. My partner got the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and the apple cider mimosa. I definitely recommend--very underrated. read more

Loved everything about our stay at the Cornish Inn! The hospitality and warmth from the staff throughout our stay was so wonderful and appreciated. Our room was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The inn is from the 1800s, and they've done a beautiful job at maintaining the antiquity in a modern way. It was so cool to hear the church bells and look out our bedroom window to see the picturesque street below. Breakfast at Lindsay's was also delicious! The bed was SOOO uncomfortable - we could feel the springs in the mattress. The whole room was tilted, and when we first laid on the bed, we literally rolled towards one side. There were also nails sticking up from the old creaking floorboards. Very dangerous. Additionally there are no coffee machines or ways to make tea in the rooms, you have to go down to the lobby. Both mornings, the one coffee carafe was either empty or cold. The walls are super thin, so you can hear everyone downstairs, in the halls and as they enter the building. It's too bad because the woman who runs it seems very nice, it's a historic building, it feels quaint when you first look walk in. New beds, new pillows, and coffee in the rooms would make a big difference. read more

Can I give six stars? I showed up too late for breakfast but my whining and the pitiful look on my face caused them to serve it to me anyway! They even let me sit outside on the veranda which was gorgeous. I was the only one out there causing a mess I'm sure! Despite all of this trouble I caused there was great service, everyone's smiling and I was very well taken care of! Potatoes, bacon, and eggs were all done perfectly with a handsome portion of each. The highlight was this thick but light grilled sourdough that for some reason might be the best toast I've ever eaten! Tremendous experience which will cause me to come back and even look into spending some nights at the Cornish Inn. If they are anything like their restaurant it will be wonderful! read more

This was a lovely place in a quaint small town. There were cute shops and restaurants to walk to, one in the Inn. The manager was so sweet and helpful. I paid for early checkout, and when we got home I received an email from the manager saying we had checked out early so she just refunded our early checkout fee!!! How amazing!!! Stay elsewhere! A quaint decor is no excuse of an OLD WORN SPRING MATTRESS. You can put old quilt covers on NEW mattresses and still achieve the aesthetic you're going for, but I feel like "it's supposed to be old" is an excuse used here to cheap out on not staying updated. If you're an Inn, GOOD PILLOWS and a NICE BED are the MOST important thing and on our second night sleeping there I woke up and had a thought I've NEVER had at 3am "oh good, only a few more hours of this bed before I can get out of here". No joke, I sat on the toilet for a while just to give my spine a break. The room is massively tilted, so much so that I had to shim our bed with hand towels so that it was level enough to comfortably sleep in and I cut my foot on the exposed flooring nails which have not been re-sunk even though the floor is caving in beside the bed. NOT charming. You'd think in 2023, when a coffee maker is $40, you could have one in each room, but NO, you'll have to get dressed and make your way to the single pump carafe in the lobby for your 4oz teacup of lukewarm coffee, but be sure to get there early! because it runs out an isn't refilled. At least get a bigger coffee carafe for an entire inn full of people! Maybe the owners should punish themselves by staying in their own rooms so they can wrap their minds around what might be important updates to provide an enjoyable stay. Hopefully they use the money from our visit to re-invest in a new bed. read more

The Inn was beautiful. The room was wonderful and clean, with all the amenities. Breakfast was fantastic (the coffee was stupidly good). The little town of Cornish is super cute and quaint. Just a wonderful Inn, with the new ownership. We've stayed at the Inn several times, It is so nicely kept. A wonderful breakfast was provided in the morning. A fireplace to sit and watch television, a second living room with another TV. We generally stay to ourselves, but we felt so welcome that we sat while the owner was playing a guitar, with a friend on banjo this weekend. My wife & I stayed at the Cornish Inn years ago and had an excellent time as the Innkeepers were really friendly and courteous. We also used to eat there when Krista's was located there and then after the new folks ran the kitchen. Two weeks ago we were visiting again and I thought I would visit the bar. As I approached the entrance a woman informed me the bar was only for patrons. Owners certainly have the right to implement whatever rules they want. However, it was her rudeness and attitude she displayed when sharing this information I will remember. I did not argue or say anything to her. She was so offensive I would not recommend anyone I know to stay there. read more

These guys catered our wedding. I cannot recommend them enough. Our families also stayed here for the days up to and after our wedding. It is a family owned bed and breakfast and the family that runs it is amazing. Richard and Heidi and their daughter Hannah made our wedding a success! The food is incredible, they use the freshest ingredients and they cook with love. Richard used to work on the docks, so he has connections to get the freshest Maine fish that is available. They bake their own bread, and smoke their own fish. The morning of breakfast that we had at our venue included some of the most buttery lox that I have ever tasted. And our wedding dinner was OOC. Paella (due to my first love, Spain), Kosher Chicken (for the religious side of the fam), and Pasta Primavera ( for all of our hip vegan/vegetarian friends) and fresh baked pasta, and roasted root vegetable salad! They outsourced our cake, but it too was amazing. Three tiers of carrot cake (our fave) decorated in the same vain as our florals. Wrapped in ivy and roses. We also patronize them a lot for dinner during the summer. The food is great, the atmosphere is fab and they have a great open mic on wednesday nights. My dad says that staying in the rooms is like living in a Steven King novel, but he's just a little scaredy cat! read more

Our wedding would not have been as special as it was without the amazing people at the Cornish Inn. Influenced by Lyndsey F.'s review, my hubby and I visited the Cornish Inn, intending to maybe have our rehearsal dinner at their restaurant. The food and service was so phenomenal that we immediately agreed we wanted them to host our rehearsal dinner... and cater our wedding. Richard is an extremely talented chef and a lovely person. Working with him was an absolute delight. We were practically drooling as he excitedly drew up menu plans with us. I requested colcannon as a side dish at our rehearsal dinner and he was more than happy to comply with my request. Everyone raved about the food, and the room itself was perfect: cozy and glamorous (an unusual combination). And the cocktails... the bartender was a gem. We wanted casual BBQ food for the wedding and Richard went above and beyond. For EXTREMELY reasonable rates, we had hamburgers, hot dogs, perfect pulled pork sandwiches, pasta salad, green salad (Richard's cider dressing is legendary), and several vegan side dishes. I was really impressed with Richard's ability to execute on vegan fare for our guests, as it seems like a lot of chefs can do BBQ or vegan, but not both. He gave us the freshest, in-season, local ingredients and cut NO corners. The bar staff was also fabulous and professional, and were able to handle our guests (many of whom are rock and roll types and big time lushes, god love 'em.) Heidi at the Inn was fantastic, and very helpful with responding to guests' needs. The only issue we had was that, because this is a small country inn run by a couple, they weren't always available to take phone calls/reservations. Our guests (who are used to enormous chain hotels with 24/7 booking) found it frustrating to have to leave messages. But I'll personally sacrifice a little convenience in favor of personality, excellent service, and local charm. Not to mention the AMAZING blueberry bread and butter that were complimentary in our rooms in the AM. Heidi even brought complimentary mimosas to myself and all my bridesmaids on the morning of my wedding! Totally unexpected, and very much appreciated Like Lyndsey, I cannot recommend them enough. You will not get this level of quality, class, and service at these prices anywhere else. If you're looking for a caterer or private dinner party in the area, look no further, because they cannot be beat. read more

What an improvement over our stay back in November of last year! The inn was taken over by new owners and they more than made up for the previous owners. The whole "energy" of the inn was different. It was warm and inviting and the room we stayed was as cozy as could be. Rick and Lori are terrific people and have put much love and effort into restoring this quaint 200 year old inn to her former glory. Highly recommended. We will come back again! read more

The Cornish Inn is on route 25 as you head from Portland, Maine west to the White Mountains or Lake Winnipesaukee. This is a tough road to find dinner on if you don't want an Italian or a slice of pizza. Most of the busy restaurants serve big portions of reheated processed food. Not the Cornish Inn. It is honest to goodness expertly cooked food albeit simple recipes -- served in a casual atmosphere. It has a full bar, great service and a small but good wine list. The Chef/Owner was previously at Portland's infamous, Fore Street Grill. He cooks from his heart using the finest standards of local food, fresh seafood and simple approaches. His fish chowder was impeccable. He makes the stock in small batches and finishes it when you order it -- not too thick, perfectly seasoned and the wonderful taste of fresh fish comes through. (We even took an extra order home.) Although we were tempted by the skirt steak and the deconstructed Shepherd's pie, we stuck with the seafood. My husband had mussels Provencal and I had the crab cakes. Both were expertly done and seasoned perfectly. The meals were served with local greens and apples as well as his own cider vinaigrette and homemade bread. We didn't save room for dessert but we will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I were traveling through Maine and happened upon The Cornish Inn where we met the DeCourcey's who own and operate the inn and restaurant. We were welcomed with a very quaint room. That night we ate dinner in the restaurant downstairs where Richard, the owner, cooked an amazing meal. My husband ate the hanger steak and I had Hannah's meatballs along with the flatbread pizza with apples and feta. It was one of the best meals I have ever had! Stayed here again and it was perfect! I had a very spacious and quiet room. I had dinner by myself in the restaurant (my traveling companions were delayed by a day) and they made me feel so at home and I quickly made some new friends. My wife, son, and I went to dinner at the Cornish Inn Restaurant tonight. The dinning room is cute. The food and service was terrible. My wife and I ordered the scallop scampi. There were 2 scallops in the dish and about 15 penne. The sauce was bland and seemed to be butter with Parmesan cheese. My son ordered the beef ribs. They were inedible. He ordered fries and they were also inedible. The service was atrocious. The bill for the three dishes was over $100. We had no drinks or appetizers. I recently went to the Cornish Inn for dinner with family. We didn't have reservations but were seated immediately. I am absolutely in love with the atmosphere! It is warm, inviting, quiet and relaxing! The perfect place to enjoy a delicious, relaxing dinner and not feel rushed! Expect to spend at least 2 hours here, so it is not a place for a quick bite. It is perfect if you not only want to eat great food but have time to enjoy the company of the people you are with. I felt like I was sitting at home but better! I wasn't very hungry so I ordered a burger. It was delicious and perfectly cooked! The fries were also baked instead of fried and very tasty. Much better than fried in my opinion. $7 for a burger and $10 for a double burger, you can't go wrong with that! The prices are very reasonable. The chef also prepared a last minute request for a cup of chowder to take home, which was awesome because they had already put everything away for the night. Service is above and beyond!
