Tip Top is apparently a Marietta landmark, and honestly, the hype is justified. I rolled up on a…read moreSaturday morning with a friend and noticed the place looks like it's had a bit of a glow-up recently. I'm not sure when the renovation happened, but the fresh aesthetic is a vibe--it's clean, updated, and feels like it actually belongs in this decade. As for the spread, we didn't come to play. We went for the turkey sausage, egg, and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. Now, I know some people might look at that sweet and savory combo sideways, but that flavor profile is actually elite. It's a sophisticated maneuver, and they pulled it off. We also dove into a breakfast burrito packed with chicken sausage, potato, egg, and cheese. It was heavy, well-seasoned, and exactly the kind of structural integrity you want in a morning wrap. Of course, we had to sample the namesake, so we grabbed two chocolate iced donuts. They were fresh, airy, and reminded me why this place is a staple to begin with. Everything was pretty good across the board. It's nice to see a local gem evolve its look while keeping the food quality on point. If you're looking for a proper Saturday morning start in the area, this is definitely the move. Just bring an appetite and maybe some discipline, because it's easy to over-order when everything looks this good.

How's that for customer service? #shoplocal If you don't give Tip Top Donuts your business, it's you who is missing out. Great food and southern hospitality at 5am, it's a no brainer. I think this place is worth checking out. This review is for the original location in Marietta. It opened in December 2015 and is still going strong. Doughnut Dollies opened two additional locations, both in Atlanta, but they've since closed: 1. The Collier Hills / Buckhead / Westside location on Howell Mill Rd opened in June 2019 and announced its closing in August 2024. https://www.instagram.com/doughnutdollies/p/C-3fWhvuMs3/?img_index=1 2. The Virginia-Highland location on Virginia Ave opened in August 2021 and was reported closed in June 2024. https://whatnowatlanta.com/virginia-highland-donut-shop-closes-another-could-be-moving-in/ Doughnut Dollies appears to change their menu monthly. There were 18 flavors when I looked, six available on weekends only. That said, we were able to get a Dulce de Leche doughnut, marked "weekend only," on a Wednesday afternoon. A couple of the more unique flavors included Raspberry Black Pepper and the Mikey. The latter was described as: "espresso cream-filled brioche Long John, maple, candied applewood-smoked bacon." A Long John is a bar-shaped, yeast-risen doughnut. They also sell a sour cream doughnut called the "Old Fashioned," probably because sour cream doughnuts were made as far back as the late 1800s. Other than that, the menu was pretty standard and not too exciting. There were lots of classic flavors and chocolate flavors. The store itself was cute and modern. Like other "gourmet" doughnut shops, Doughnut Dollies sells doughnuts a la carte. In other words, it's not cheaper to buy a dozen. The store also sells cookies and mini doughnuts. Here's what my wife and I snacked on: * Dollie ($4.00) - creme brulee-filled brioche tossed in sugar and bruleed * Apple Fritter ($4.50) - cinnamon brioche with roasted apple and vanilla glaze * Dulce de Leche (weekend only, $4.50) - cinnamon sugar brioche, housemade dulce de leche milk caramel We both liked the Dollie the best. It must be the shop's signature doughnut because of the name. The creme brulee filling was terrific. Overall, the doughnut had a yummy texture and delectable creaminess, and it wasn't too sweet. My wife and I disagreed on Nos. 2 and 3. She liked the Apple Fritter second best, but it was the Dulce de Leche for me. The latter was super sweet (sugar-coated) and had a rich, sticky caramel center. My wife thought it was too one-dimensional. She loves apple fritters and thought the Apple Fritter doughnut was enjoyable, despite the cinnamon being overbearing. The doughnut was a bit dry. I found that to sort of be the case for the Dulce de Leche doughnut too. I'm glad I finally got to try some doughnuts from Doughnut Dollies. I had it bookmarked on Yelp for many years. Back when I went into the office in Marietta, pre-COVID, I recall a coworker telling me about Doughnut Dollies. That's how long it's been. I look forward to trying different flavors in the future.
