This has been a favorite of mine since I was in high school. (20+ years). I've changed. Have they? No. Unfortunately, especially with the addition of new corporate life cream shops to the Marietta Square, I worry about the future of this spot. We've been numerous times over the past year where it smells bad, the decor is lackluster, the staff is apathetic, slow moving or understaffed, the wait times for the product are insanely long and there's nothing redeeming about coming here vs one of the new corporate spots. I'm all for supporting local, but when they're doing nothing to compete or evolve, there is less and less reason to coming here. read more

He was doing his best. It seems only one machine is working. The interior was pretty dirty and had a strange smell happening. Always a hit with the crowd. You choose your base flavor and add your choice of additional favorites. You get to make amazing new favorites. We love the chocolate base with peanut butter, toffee, and coffee. The yogurt is delicious as well. Creativity can be rewarded, if you are not good creating your own they have a board with favorite mixes you can choose from. read more

Sweetreats is our favorite ice cream place! We realized tonight that we've been enjoying this place for 9 years! And it is just as good today as it was then. Just choose vanilla or chocolate ice cream base and create your own mix. Tonight they swirled in strawberries and cheesecake pieces for me. It was very good. I've also tried cinnamon and Graham cracker crumbs. Honestly, I've never had anything but good ice creams! The waffle cones are also quite tasty! I honestly have never noticed this little shop in the square but it's been around for awhile. I'm really glad that I stumbled upon this spot after leaving the Strand's indie movie night lol. There are just so many options to choose from and it's just really good to have a soft serve option that is a bit more creative with mix ins than coldstone. I decided to get the waffle cone with the cookie monster mix which is basically mayfield vanilla ice cream with oreo and cookie dough. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it despite coming close to getting the kahlua cheesecake :D I've been craving cookie dough ever since I went to Bruster's and ordered just that and received a scoop without even one piece of cookie dough! Shameful lol Bruster's has been going downhill for a while though...slow and steady but still lol The crazy part about this concept is that none of the ice cream is made in house which makes you wonder: how good could it possibly be? Well it's pretty darn good! To be honest though, since none of the ice cream is homemade it's hard to stack up against some of these other premium ice cream shops. Despite the potential setback, the ice cream was absolutely delicious and the customer's keep on strolling in. Did I mention they close at 10pm? Nothing like a great scoop on a beautiful night. Funny enough, the real shining star and pièce de résistance IMO is actually the waffle cone. It's got to be homemade because it tastes that good. It actually reminds me of an Italian waffle cookie that we make that's called "pizzelle" and it brought back a flood of memories when I was a child with my nonna making them by hand and by the dozen. I frequent this establishment pretty often. I have never had a "great" experience here, but the ice cream is really good. However, the young girls that work here don't seem to be knowledgeable in customer service. They took their sweet little time in serving their customers. Their conversation amongst themselves was much more important. Then, they have one girl making the orders and one girl only working the register. It took me 22 minutes to get a small milkshake. While I was standing g there waiting for my order, another young female that was an employee from another business on the Square came in. Both employees of Sweet Treats stopped what they were doing to go talk to this girl and view what was in her to go box for lunch. Meanwhile, the line to order was now about 10 people deep. Get rid of the young girls and employ people who want to work and care about their job. Not an owner or manager anywhere to be found. read more

It's rather dark and uninviting.. but the service is good, and the ice cream options are even better, so we will continue to support. You can add cereals, fruits, candies... practically anything you want! It's super cool to see the ice cream church in the machine to blend your flavors. Nice concept, it can just use a bit more charm and lighting to bring more customers in and make it more inviting. read more

We love ordering our favorite toppings to mix in with the ice cream. This place has a line from the counter to the door on some evenings, but it's worth the wait. I wish they would re-paint, decorate and make the ambience more inviting, but as long as they keep serving delicious ice cream, I'll keep coming back. read more

You can personalize your ice cream in literally a million different ways. Given that each ice cream is hand mixed, the line can take some time if it's more than a few persons deep. They offer a frequent flyer card. Definitely one of my fave dessert spots on the square. read more

Went here after dinner. No line and great customer service. It was our first time and the cashier explained how the menu works and making custom flavors. The ice cream is soft serve and the toppings are mixed in, not on top like the photos on the menu. Overall, pretty good ice cream. Its a little pricey but it wont stop me from going back again. read more

So I have been wanting to walk around the square for a good minute. Friday my son finally indulged me. Lol! I had promised him ice cream the day before so decided to pay up. I was so impressed watching the owner make ice cream for the customers in front of us. When it was our turn, he asked if it was our first visit. He then explained how it worked. You pick vanilla or chocolate icecream and then what you want to add from the board behind him. The ice cream is Mayfield. There were sooo many options. There is a menu on the counter of various combos to give you ideas. I went for Rocky Road. He used chocolate ice cream and added mini marshmallows, pecans, and chunks of chocolate fudge. When he places it in the machine, it mixes all the ingredients together. He lets it out and reads for a second mix. You can have it in a cup or on a cone. It was really good. My son tried vanilla with oreos. He enjoyed it. His friend got butter pecan, vanilla ice cream with pecans and caramel. He drizzled caramel onto when placed on the cone. I must say that I would definitely go back and have been telling everyone about it. I would double my ingredients next time Oh, and your 1st add on is free and each additional costs. read more

After eating a huge meal, we all found room for some ice cream, mainly my daughter's idea. This place has a multitude of choices for ice cream and milkshakes. It's a bit overwhelming with all the choices, but I like the variety. You can get anything from a sundae to a banana split to a cup of ice cream to a cone to a float to a treat for your dog! My boyfriend chose a banana ice cream and my daughter chose the pina colada one minus the rum. I tried both, and wasn't crazy about either. My daughter didn't like hers at all, so that was a big waste. It was creamy but the flavor just wasn't that good. I'm not sure if we just ordered the wrong things, but it wasn't the best experience. My boyfriend finished his, and he said his was decent, but I was less impressed with the flavor. The concept is cool and they literally make whatever combo you want in front of you, so the choices are pretty endless, however I think the taste is what should be bringing you back, and for that, it was a miss. I also felt the store itself looked a little chaotic, and I know we were there ten minutes before close, but the worker told us they are about to close, so we can't sit down. Love me some good, creamy ice cream! This place is super cute and delicious! The lady helping us was super sweet too and very helpful (I can never decide what I want). My friend got the fruity pebbles ice cream which was surprisingly really good, kind of tasted like pop rocks in your mouth. I got the Cookie Monster and it was yummy!! After dinner at Marietta Square Market, we decided to venture over to Marietta Square for a sweet treat. Well -- Sweetreats was literally our destination! As we approached the shop, I became nervous by its appearance. The ice cream shop was dark and dreary, with fluorescent lighting casting a shabby glow on the dingy interior. We then began to peruse the menus. Menus were posted all over the restaurant with different formats in a haphazard manner, and we became more confused by the more signs that we read. The ambiance of Sweetreats was a 0/5, and I dashed back outside as soon as I could. Now, the ice cream that I was served from the shop was a completely different story. They only offer two base flavors -- vanilla and chocolate -- but then these flavors are swirled with any number of delicious toppings that you choose. I ordered the chocolate ice cream mixed with Oreo cookies and peanut butter cups. Yum. Yum. Yum!! I give this ice cream a 5/5. If this shop could replace their lighting, make a few minor shop updates, add some friendly decor to brighten up the place (like flowers on the tables), and make their signage consistent throughout the shop, I'd rate it 5 stars. However, as things stand today, there is still so much more opportunity. read more

Also, I love that they offer a Yelp coupon for Yelpers who check in! (The reason we picked this location over another near by shop) Glad that we pick Sweet Treats. The area is super cute and the customer service was awesome. They have pre-selected flavors and employee favorites if you want the decision made easy. Their menu was so vast. From ice cream to frappes, there should be something to satisfy your sweet tooth. The double espreso was yummy and def satisfied our craving for caffeine and something chilled. I really love this ice cream. More so than other places that do the "mix-in" concept. They use a custom made machine to swirl the flavors you pick. You start with the basic chocolate or vanilla and then add anything from chips, sauces, fruits, etc. The possibilities are endless. Today I opted for the raspberry cheesecake, graham cracker and caramel. Yumm! I payed $5 fora smalls & 3 mix- ins What I love the most about this place is their hours. What kind of ice cream parlor only has choice of vanilla or chocolate flavors?! Come on, man. A single scoop of ice cream in a cone was close to $5. I've never had a smaller ball of ice cream for this much, not even at a fair. My friend had brownies mixed into the scoop; it looked nothing like the picture shown, and literally was just brownies blended into the ball of ice cream. And that made it close to $6. In my head, as I was handed my cone, I was thinking: ...should've just gone to McDonald's for the softserve. Because it was the exact.same.thing. I'm really surprised by all the high reviews here. I didn't have a great experience here. In fact, the smell of the place was very offputting. We had someone in our party not even want to try it because it looked gross. You walk in and not only do they sell their sweet treats but they also sell jewelry? It's very cluttered and unnecessary to be in an ice cream shop. Our party ordered a variety of things. Cups and cones and different toppings. They use the same single machine to crank out everyone's ice cream on a busy Saturday -- so some of my sons toppings got into my daughters ice cream. It also caused quite a line. The waffle cones were flavorless and stale. They looked so good but they weren't. The ice cream itself -- everything you want in your ice cream gets blended up together and you don't get chunks of anything unless you get hard to grind up stuff like gummy bears. So if you're expecting moose tracks to have chunky pieces of anything in it -- you're going to be severely disappointed. I had such a meh experience here. Positive note though -- they're one of the only places in Marietta square with a public restroom. read more

Though the people who work there aren't hipsters, the night we visited the location it was littered with hipster customers or squatters whichever. Do not use their bathroom you have been warned. The ice cream is unique. Same concept of the Dairy Queen Blizzard but better ice cream and when they blend your flavors/toppings whips it up and makes it more like soft serve. But also makes it very melty. So I had to forfeit my cone for a boring cup and still ended up a sticky mess. Can't say anything bad about this place. I've loved it since my friend used to work at this place years back. I've come back after being away from Georgia for a couple years, and the store's atmosphere has gotten even more rustic. Sorta like how leather patina over time. If it's your first time, they'll walk you through how it works. You pick a base ice cream (chocolate or vanilla) and then you go crazy with whatever topping you want. I say topping, but everything is blended together in their own, I think proprietary, blender. 2 "toppings" are included but feel free to get anything else you want at additional cost. Ice cream gets made in a matter of seconds in front of you. All these different "cool" ice cream places are popping up; like rolled ice cream and such, but sweet treats is the OG legit ice cream place you want to be. Ask for David. But usually, on non busy days, cashiers are friendly and willing to help choose your ice cream flavors. On busy days, they're okay. Not the friendliest but not bad. ICE CREAM: I've only had their Ice cream here so I'll just base my views only on that. My usual go to is their pina colada ice cream with coconut, rum, and pineapple. For those who haven't tried this yet, you gotta try it. I like how it has a nice balanced flavor while giving me a little umph with their coconut. My boyfriend usually gets toffee coffee which includes just toffee and coffee flavored ice cream and it's also very yummy. You can definitely taste the coffee and the crunchiness of the toffee in each bite is also a nice touch.
