They did an amazing job with our wedding cake years back and again for my 50th birthday!!! The almond Jack Daniel was a big hit then and now!!! It had the same great flavor and freezes well!!

After postponing our formal wedding ceremony and reception from 2020 to 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we lost our original wedding cake vendor, Kat with Lush Cakery in Marietta: https://www.yelp.com/biz/lush-cakery-marietta. We liked Cake Hag in Atlanta, but not enough to use them for our wedding: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-cake-hag-cake-shop-atlanta-2. Finally, we loved the wedding cake at our legal wedding ceremony, prepared by Larissa of Bakey Bakes in Atlanta, but she was out of our budget for our formal wedding reception: https://www.yelp.com/biz/bakey-bakes-atlanta. Enter our current and final wedding cake vendor, Confection Perfection of Marietta. Confection Perfection was recommended to us by our wedding planner, Jordan Xu of Emily Jordan Events (formerly Wedding Belles: https://www.yelp.com/biz/wedding-belles-atlanta). With over three months to go until our wedding day, our planner Jordan and the staff at Confection Perfection came through. I was also happy to hear that one of my friends and fellow Atlanta Yelpers, Sasha T, had a great experience with Confection Perfection doing the cake for her wedding: https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=dVHQb0s8lEuLTmditMSdNw. At this point, it's safe to say we've tried more than our fair share of wedding cakes. Unlike Lush Cakery and Cake Hag, we did not have a free, in-person, cake tasting experience with Confection Perfection. Of course, times have changed since the pandemic. We emailed Confection Perfection to get the process started. Joie got back to us and said, "Due to the high volume of consult requests we receive, there is a $25.00 fee for the consult and tasting." We heard ahead of time from our planner that cake tasting fees are normal now and we were OK with it. We arranged for a phone consult with tray pick-up. In-studio consultations were available too, but phone was easiest for us. Unlike the aforementioned cake businesses which appeared to be one or two-woman shops, Confection Perfection is a much larger operation. In addition to Joie, we interacted with Madison via email and, when I went to the physical store, I met Mary and Maria (not sure if I spelled Maria's name right because she pronounces it differently than the common way people say Maria; she has emphasis on the "Mar," like MAR-ia). I went to pick up our cake tasting tray between 10am-12pm on a Friday. Madison said they leave promptly at 12pm for deliveries. When I arrived around 11:15-ish, Mary and Maria looked busy. They had our tray ready to go in one of the fridges and it also came with a "bonus box" with more cake flavors to try. We weren't expecting the bonus box, so that was a nice little treat. Mary and Maria were both friendly. In total, my wife and I tried 21 different cake flavor and filling combinations. I tried to eat at most half of each of the 21 combos and I felt quite full before the end. There was enough cake for the two of us to do two separate at-home tasting sessions. This helped us confirm our choices. One advantage to doing the cake tasting at home instead of at the studio/store is my wife and I could take our time and freely discuss our unfiltered thoughts on all the flavors. The tray came with a helpful paper menu that listed all the cake flavors and fillings with spaces for us to take notes. My wife and I rated each combo independently and then compared notes to pick our wedding cake flavors. Fortunately, we agreed on a lot of the same flavors, so it made choosing our flavors easy. Overall, the cake flavor and filling combos ranged from good to great. Some combos we were in love with immediately, such as the Chocolate Chip and Cookie Butter. These were simply phenomenal both in taste and texture. The flavors luscious and delectable, the consistencies soft and moist. We ended up going with a three-tiered cake. Our first (bottom) and third (top) tier choices were Chocolate Chip cake and with two layers of Cookie Butter filling with one layer of Fleur de Sel Salted Caramel filling. Our second tier choice was almond cake with two layers of "Black and Jack" Jack Daniels Infused Blackberries filling and one layer of White Chocolate Mousse filling. The icing base color was white and the frosting on the outside of the cake was buttercream. Funny exterior cake design details we had added were a mini Buzz (Georgia Tech mascot) and Dooley (Emory mascot). The non-refundable wedding cake deposit was $150. The total cost to us, including the deposit and $55 delivery and setup fee, was $717.50. The cake started at a $550 base price to serve 110 people, plus $75 in flavor upgrades, and $37.50 in tax. We had to provide the cake stand and flowers. Confection Perfection is a business that churns out special event cakes at a high clip. They've been in business for over 20 years and know what they're doing. The store is located next to Marietta National Cemetery, not far from Marietta Square, on Roswell Street. Free parking is located on-site (small lot).

    Grooms cake

Confection Perfection was "Perfection"! We ordered a grooms cake for a rehearsal dinner at Marietta Country Club and they did not disappoint. Delivered on time, looked just like I ordered and delicious! Leftovers were even better :) wonderful to work with, professional and reasonable with pricing. Thank you for making our evening extra special!!

My wife got my 40th birthday cake from here. I was impressed not only with the decorations, but the taste. It was a chocolate chip cake with cookie butter filling and butter crème icing. Even though the cake sat in the fridge for 6 hours, it sat out for 1 hour before we cut it and the cake was moist, fresh and delicious. Well done, well done.

My favorite bakery !!!! Found this place two years ago and have been a loyal customer since!!! The cakes are always beautiful.. but most importantly delicious!!! I have recommended many friends and they're all hooked!!! The girls are also super helpful!! Don't think twice order from this amazing team!!!

TEAL IS NOT GREEN My bestie and I have traded flowers and advice for years was retiring, so I thought I would give her a "garden themed" retirement party. I picked this photo straight off the store website with key lime cake (light green w/white buttercream frosting) and purchased all sorts accessories to match it . Day before the event I go pick it up and the cake is TEAL COLORED!!! I said that's not green like your photo--and the lady had the nerve to tell me "TEAL is a shade of green" WTH? Never had any other excuse and didn't offer me my money back. Had to spend all today running around restyling/changing colors of everything because party is in the AM. As I told the job I would take care of the cake I had no other choice but accept it, however I cannot accept money from others who wanted to chip in with it looking like this. This puts you on the "dont let her order anything list". I am soooo very upset, embarrassed and hurt at this mess. Changing the color changed the entire complexion of the cake; why on earth would she think it would be acceptable to make a green cake w/green insides into a TEAL colored cake? One of the flowers on the TEAL cake is actually the color on the website cake, so no reason why the cake couldnt be the right color. it was not ordered at the last minute. Its the decorations are not as nice and neat as the website photo. All I can say is be careful with this place; make sure they make the color. If they cannot make it like their own pics shows they dont need to make it at all.

We used Confection Perfection for our daughter's Quinceañera cake this past weekend. We are very pleased with everything, from answering our initial inquiry, to working through details regarding our daughter's food allergies, to having the cake delivered, to the cake tasting fantastic! The cake looked beautiful and tasted great, we are still getting compliments on it. I highly recommend them. Thank you very much Confection Perfection!

They do an amazing job on all my custom cakes. Shane does a great job with perfecting my custom cakes. My cakes come out better than expected. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

We purchased expensive fake florals to go on each tier of the wedding cake and made a design with the Confection Perfection team, providing photos and everything. We were disappointed to find the cake on our wedding day without the florals that we gave to the bakery. Just completely plain. Thankfully, my family used some of our lantern florals to wrap around the base to add some color, but I still don't know where the $40 box of fake foam roses are that I provided the bakery with, nor why they weren't on the cake like we planned. It tasted good, but the extra stress was not what I wanted on our wedding day!

I wanted send a HUGE thank you to Confection Perfection for making such an amazingly delicious cake/cupcakes. I recently order a 9" round cake & 2 dozen cupcakes for my husband's birthday. My husband was very pleased with the design & taste; as was everyone else in attendance. From booking to design to pickup it was such a seamless process. Everyone was so pleasant to work with at the shop. I look forward to working with you guys again in the future.

Our wedding cake started leaning shortly after it was setup by Confection Perfection and the top two tiers fell-off shortly thereafter. However, it's not the intention of this review to place blame. Instead, we've focused the review on our initial experience with Confection Perfection as well as the owner's approach for handling the cake stability issue. The tasting was excellent, we chose three flavors and they were amazing. Several guests commented on the cake flavor; they loved it. Guests were served one of two flavors. The top two tiers were the third flavor but could not be served, needless to say. The design and ordering experience were excellent - very professional. Things took a turn for the worse when it came time to lock-down a delivery time. Our wedding planner proactively raised concern with regard to the delivery time as she (and we) felt the cake was scheduled, by Confection Perfection, for a delivery/setup time that was too early in the day; and therefore the cake was at high risk of failure (i.e., melting). Confection Perfection adjusted the schedule by 1 hour but the delivery time was still entirely too early in the day, in our opinion. They setup the cake - in a barn, in the spring season - roughly 7 hours before the reception. In this review, we will not place blame for the cake collapse. But, we feel Confection Perfection did not take the 'delivery time' concern as seriously as they should have. We contacted the owner to discuss the top two tier collapse issue and were generally not pleased with her response. One would think that as a first step the owner would contact the appropriate professionals 'on staff' for their inputs, e.g., the wedding planner, caterer captain, florist, etc., and then formulate an assessment as well as a plan to address the issue with the customer. Instead, the owner took a 'read the contract, not our problem' defensive approach, which is disappointing, although she did apologize. She could have better handled the issue, in our opinion. We are disappointed. To close the review on a positive note, we loved the design and favors.

Edible art! Confection perfection was part of our wedding venue package, but I wouldn't want anyone else! Even during the COVID pandemic, they provided an awesome tasting experience, and our conference call with the decorator allowed us to have a beautiful cake. We had a 2 tier with different flavors. One was Cinnamon with cream cheese filling - AMAZING. The other was chocolate with strawberry filling - YUM! They provided an anniversary cake as well. We are so happy with our cake, it was truly edible art that added to our wedding decor, and it truly tasted even better than it looked!

    Napkin.

First of all, I would like to point out the email etiquette that this company does not hold as a "professional". I would suppose you would greet your clients when responding via email. I also took a picture of my daughter's birthday theme and it so happened to be a napkin. Whoever I was communicating with via email, sounded like they wanted to outsmart me and point out that it was a napkin. I mean, obviously it's a napkin, I'm showing you the theme/color scheme for the cake?????? I am not your friend. Fix your tone. Second of all, I would think that the amount of money I spent on a cake, they would provide simple candles. What a shame. 1st picture is the napkin. 2nd is what I wanted. 3rd is what we received. Overall, my cake came out as I expected. However, service was horrible so here is my bad review. I also will not be returning. Good luck.

For the best in the cake business in the Atlanta area, look no further than Lush Cakery! I…read moretypically never, ever care for wedding cakes... They're usually nothing special. But cakes from this shop are crowd-favorites! Everyone at my wedding raved about the cake, even months later people still brought it up. I highly recommend this business.

We had a great time tasting cakes with our wedding planner, Jordan Flowers of Wedding Belles, and…read moreKathryn ("Kat") Steed, sole owner and cake maker at Lush Cakery in Marietta. Jordan recommended Lush Cakery to my fiancee and me (our planner does not accept kickbacks, but instead passes on any discounts she may get on to us) and that is enough praise for me. My fiancee, through her own research, noticed that Lush Cakery has had a hand in a lot of nice weddings in Atlanta. She absolutely loves the look of Lush's cakes (she describes them as beautiful, fun, and creative). I asked Kat how many weddings she did last year and she told me, if I recall correctly, 185 (all by herself!). She doesn't plan on doing that many per year going forward, but she definitely has the experience and is well known in the Atlanta wedding community. Kat moved into a cute space just off Marietta Square a couple years ago. There's a retail space, open four days a week, and a tasting room, available by appointment only. The shop can also be booked for small events like bridal and baby showers. Kat was waiting for us promptly at our appointment time. My fiancee and I were accompanied by our planner for the tasting. The tasting room was quaint and charming. It reminded my fiancee of an attractive sitting room, like something you would see on HGTV. We got to know Kat and she got to know us. She let us swipe through cake designs on her iPad while talking to us about our wedding, our tastes/visions for our cake, and how our cake would align with our wedding overall. For example, we talked about the season of our wedding, whether it's going to be indoor or outdoor, etc. These kinds of things can affect the ingredients and flavors of our wedding cake. There was a menu at the table with Lush's most popular wedding cake flavors. We tasted the following six flavors: * Salted caramel * Amaretto white chocolate red raspberry * Triple chocolate hazelnut * Grand Marnier strawberries and cream * Cinnamon * Cream cheese pound with lemon curd Kat had the first five flavors in the list above ready to go on a plate for each of us. The last one was requested by my fiancee who was interested in trying the lemon curd after seeing it on the menu. My eyes lit up as I bit into these cakes. What impressed me most about them was actually not their flavor, but their consistency. Every single slice was perfectly fluffy and moist. They were tender and delicate with good crumb. Flavor-wise, they were sweet, but not too sweet. My favorite flavors were the salted caramel and the strawberries and cream. My fiancee's favorite flavors were the amaretto white chocolate red raspberry and the triple chocolate hazelnut. My fiancee thought both the strawberry and cinnamon tasted delicious, but were a little too simple for her tastes. The cream cheese pound cake with lemon curd was outstanding, but we agreed that we liked the lighter, less dense textures of the other cakes for our wedding cake. Everything we tried tasted great, so what it really came down to here was personal preference. We want a classic, elegant looking cake so Kat suggested a traditional three-tier round cake. We'll have it decorated with flowers from our florist, Julie Coffin of Unique Floral Expressions, who is one of the rock stars of the Atlanta wedding industry and whom Kat has worked many weddings with. We chose our cake and icing flavors, along with a fun design extra, and were quoted under $700 for our cake (tax and delivery included). The cake will serve 100. We'll have more than 100 guests, but there will be other dessert options too. Kat's quote is about $200 higher than another quote we recently received, so Lush is on the higher side. However, the other quote did not include an extra design element and the Lush quote also includes a "complimentary" anniversary tier a year after our wedding. A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a date. We received Kat's proposal via email quickly after our meeting. My fiancee had a question and it didn't take long for Kat to respond. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Now we just have to make a decision! Throughout our wedding planning process so far, this has turned out to be the most difficult decision yet.
