We went in to let management know that though we had wanted to eat there, we couldn't support a restaurant that advocates for a supposed maternal "right" to kill one's own offspring. And after calmly and politely expressing that view to the bartender/host, two women shouted the obvious lie that elective abortion is "healthcare," and told us that we should take our money elsewhere. As the establishment seems keen to advocate for a parental "right" to kill one's own children, with vim and vitriol no less, we were happy to do just that. Wish I had a picture of their signage and a video of the ladies shouting at us to leave to share here, but you can imagine, or go by and see for yourself.

Its got a very cozy, low-key feel to it that is a perfect for just chilling and sipping on a beer or two. They have a solid selection of beer but not many on draft. The bar is connected to Coeur D'Alene Bike Company and I get the impression that they cater heavily to the biking community (I mean, it is called "The Post Ride" after all). I'm not much of a biker but I do like beer so I fit in well enough. All in all, I thought it was great little hole in the wall and would definitely suggest stopping by for a beer. Will probably never have another lemon drop martini after tasting this one. The flavor was perfect, not too sweet. Had to order an espresso martini as well since I recently got hooked to these and love trying how different bars make them. This one was a solid 8. Now the bartender, Dom. The 1st few times I went to Sunset, I went in alone. As a young woman, I felt comfortable and safe. Everyone was friendly, and very welcoming. By the second time I came in a few people remembered me by sight and even a couple by name. The drinks are reasonably priced if not a bargain. There are some nice pool tables. The noise level is low, just casual conversation, banter, and laughter. The lights are dimmed and there is bar seating as well as small tables on two levels. The staff is personable and attentive. There is one elephant in the room that has some people steering clear. It is a smoking bar. If you can't handle that, maybe this place is not for you. I figure, the bar is casual so no need to dress up and I take a shower and wash my clothes no matter what at the end of the day. I got a growler of beer from a different brewery here so that proved to be successful and pleasant. I went poking around on Untappd and looked up anything Black Lodge Brewing may have made and they certainly had some intriguing beers so I held off on getting a Yelp review posted for it. But on my second visit I was told that they don't brew their own beer anymore and that they only have guest taps from other breweries but they still had a good variety of beer to choose from as far as beer options go. So this place is more of a taphouse with guest taps so something to keep in mind. It's still as cool as I remember it. My last visit here looked like a concert was going to start. Might have been a metal or a punk oriented type band as that was what the audience appeared to be. I wasn't going to see the show and just wanted a beer so they were nice enough to let me in to do just that. Black Lodge Brewing is one of those breweries that is inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks and you pick up subtle nods to it there with some pictures of Laura Palmer.
