When it came time for a replenishment, a couple days ago, I went to Nordstrom again. To my horror I was told, by a very cool man in the fragrance department, that they no longer carried it. But, and this is a big but, he told me of the only company store is in L. A. The next day I went to 9071Nemo Street, West Hollywood. I had expectations of a 10 story glass and steel skyscraper with lot's of people scurrying about in lab coats. Lot's of scientists around. To my astonishment, my visit was to a small repurposed house with all the charm of my cabin in Northern Minnesota. The store is unpretentious, mellow, friendly and warm. I felt I had discovered Nirvana! Led by my store-person Justin, I learned more history than I had previously known. Justin took all the time in the world to explain it's commerce in great detail. I would highly endorse a trip to this store if in L.A. Would I recommend this fragrance? In a New York minute. I've been a selfish consumer however. When someone asks what I'm wearing, most of the time I decline because I don't want the whole galaxy wearing my signature fragrance!!!! Clean, crisp, scrubbed and immaculate. However, when I arrived parking was very hard. Valet was only option but I was expecting a store filled with much more product than I saw. There were only a few sample bottles and the business didnt look like it was operating at 100 % . The person there had to make phone calls to answer questions concerning product. It looks more like a hair salon that happens to have very little products of Gendarme. No body wash or anything else except deodorant. Needless to say I was very disappointed as I was so excited to make the trip out to visit the store but looks nothing like photos of location off Nemo in hollywood.

The employee, who I'm going to call "nº1" in respect of privacy and for being #1, carried out a level of knowledge and integrity provided assistance that I only believed existed in my parents days, you know, when going to the store was a thing. All of which was highly commendable and resolved a long overextended mission to the Lakewood Shopping Center. Plus it was the only place that offered coffee beans to reset ones sense of smell when testing fragrances. I didn't even know that was a thing! Here's a brief run of what when on prior to this great interaction, which succeeded in finding a birthday gift for my mom, which i had no idea ended up being set she was dying for. This was Black Opium by YSL. I only find it important to detail so that others dont go on the goose chase that I did. I spent 4 hours in the mall going to and from all stores selling fragrances and being met with very little that would incline me to make a purchase. After exhausting all the department stores as well as some of the smaller shops, all of which sucked. It wasn't until I remembered there being this fragrance kiosk I visited a few years back, located towards the Forever 21 entrance of the mall. And so with some hope of finding what I was looking for, I decided to head that way. I wish I would've done this from the very beginning, because I had to make it back home by 3 to head to a wedding and I started all this just a little after the mall opened at 10, and in my mind that was a large enough frame to handle the shopping and get ready. So I made it back close to 2:30, which was sort of pushin it, BUT I accomplished my goal with much credit to nº1, who was just rad, but if you dont believe me, I implore anyone to go to any other vendor for perfumes within the mall to see if the quality of service comes close to that of nº1 or any of the other employees @ Fragrance Bay. I look forward to following up on the cologne I was being recommended and will likely continue my collection through this kiosk. Note: to address the negative reviews discussing the pricing, compared to online... bruh. It's 2021 and y'all wanna pretend like you didn't think to check online before settling on how to best spend your money? And then use that to say what you paid for wasn't worth service provided by the employees at this kiosk, which from the looks of it seem to unanimously have positive things to say! Personally, I'll only go online to get samples of cologne that are difficult to find. Even in being absolutely positive about buying a 6oz of D&G, and finding it for $45 online and $60 in store, I take the store because I know exactly what I'm getting as opposed to gambling my earnings online.

I ended purchasing one from her today. Sure some fragrances you can buy online for less but the personal service and the fact that you can sample before buying really makes up for paying a little more. I have bought colognes in the past blindly based on online reviews and disliked them after. That is more disappointing than paying a little more at a booth like this and actually getting something you like. The young lady who helped me today was so kind and genuine. It really made my day. Since I visit the South Bay Area, happened to visit this store - it was my BIG MISTAKE! Sadly, being respectful in saying that one is not interested - the sales people seemed to take my refusal as an additional reason to apply great pressure to "sample" (demonstration) then cornered me when I wanted to leave. Unfortunate that one has to be rude and literally push oneself away from these "salespeople" to leave. Curious that prominent shopping mall management companies don't do the proper due dilligence is screening/filtering "retailers" that have extremely bad reputations and negative BBB ratings - along with a track record of super aggressive salesmanship encouraged by store managers - as noted in previous posts listed here. Given that the pattern from the Cerritos Mall store to the Glendale Galleria store is repeated many times (that prompted the closing of their stores at these shopping malls) at this South Bay shopping mall store (as I have experienced), strongly encourage those that others like myself share your opinions/views to this South Bay Shopping Mall company office and hope that they will find the appropriate course of actions to protect the dwindling number of shoppers that actually go to shopping malls (hmm, maybe that is why these salespeople are so aggressive - online shopping will eliminate having to deal with super aggressive salespeople.
