Chocolate chip
Kat K.

I want to say that they have the best cookies in the mall (hanes Mall), hands down. I've been going to them since i was a kid, and still, those chocolate chip cookies are warm and always melt in your mouth. I have tried other varieties of cookies, but I'm not a big fan, especially ones that have too much icing on top, but that's just me. They are quick, and even though the mall isn't as crazy packed as it used to be, I hope they still get the credit they deserve.

We tried a couple of classic flavors today, chocolate chip and the peanut butter. Both were warm and fresh, but weren't too terribly exciting beyond that. It's a pretty basic cookie... and served warm is a nice touch. I don't think I would be a fan if the cookies were cooled off. But they do have some fancier cookies that might be better, just not served warm.

I grew up going to The Cookie House in Hanes Mall. A trip to the mall was never complete without a stop here. When visiting family while in town, we definitely had to make a stop. I had the pecan chocolate chip cookie and the salted caramel pretzel cupcake. The cookies are always fresh and buttery. I am never disappointed in the cookies. This was my first time trying one of their cupcakes. The cake itself was moist and the icing salty and sweet. The downfall were the pretzels being stale on top. They did also recently renovate their shop to a darker theme, much like Gideon's Bakeshop in Florida. It isn't as bright or inviting as it used to be but don't let that deter you from their delicious cookies!

As fancy as they'll get here! The memories as a kid!

I'll tell you what I love about Cookie House. It's old school cookies with all the modern fluff of today's bakeries! Having come here when I was a kid, I was excited when I walked in to notice that nothing has changed! Still doing cookies the way you'd do them at home! There's no perfect shape to them. There's no perfect thickness to each cookie. They aren't into the gourmet recipes of today's bakery. In fact, you'll see a small window in the back where someone sits decorating large cookies with icing of your favorite cartoon character! Now I do love today's trends of bakeries, but there's something about walking in and being able to buy a warm cookie out of the oven!

The lacking "super cookie" that's tastes so wrong! Looks and tastes nothing like what The Cookie House cookies should taste like.

They sold a raw cookie cake to me and everyone at my daughter's party is sick now. They will not return my call after asking for a refund!

Hey Family! I love discovering places, based solely on a recommendation. Coincidentally, I was…read moredoing a Yelp event nearby and I was making conversation when the bartender suggested that I come here. I haven't tried many vegan desserts because I find that something is always missing, it's lacking flavor, or not sweet enough. I can CONFIDENTLY say that, The Ginger Bread Man Bakery is absolutely amazing and had none of those problems. I dare say that these vegan desserts actually tasted better than some of my other favorite bakeries. I love that this gives me another reason to come to Winston. It's really cute and cozy in the inside. However, it is small but there is some seating. The person at the counter was super helpful and very friendly. She said that of course I couldn't go wrong with getting the classic gingerbread which was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how moist it was. There were also a variety of cupcakes where they do rotate them out pretty often. I opted for the blueberry Chai cupcake. I enjoyed the frosting and it had like a blueberry filling on top as well. And lastly I tried the blueberry Cookie Butter Mini pie. That one was very addicting. I tried my best not to eat the whole thing. Since it was warm outside and I had to drive back to Greensboro, I loved that the mini pies where refrigerated and the person at the counter, actually wrapped it up for me so it could stay cool on the ride home. I will definitely come back to try more items and I can add this place in rotation with my favorite bakeries. If you are in the area, do check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

We had an amazing experience visiting Gingerbread Man Bakery in Winston-Salem…read more The owner Wade took the time to tell us about how the bakery started and how much the community means to him. The shop was inspired by his love for baking and encouragement from friends -- and some of those same friends actually work in the bakery today, which made the environment feel really welcoming. We also loved seeing how he collaborates with other local creatives. From merch designed by a local tattoo artist to candles and soaps made through local partnerships, you can really feel the community support inside the shop. Now for the desserts. We tried: * Blueberry Chai Cupcake * Orange Rosemary Cupcake * Key Lime Cupcake * Fruity Pebbles Cake Pop * Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie * Banana Pudding Cookie * Gingerbread Cookie Every flavor combination was impressive. The blueberry chai cupcake literally tasted like drinking a cup of tea, and somehow the banana pudding cookie actually tasted like banana pudding. Our favorite was the Key Lime cupcake. Great desserts, great atmosphere, and great people. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Winston-Salem.

This artisan bakery has undergone all health and department of agriculture inspections and been approved to prepare baked goods for wholesale and private sale. If you've never ordered a cake from a home bakery, we will walk you through the process we followed step by step. For our family, it started with deciding what type of cake my mom would like for her birthday, my dad would like for his birthday, and both parents would enjoy for their anniversary. My parents love old fashioned layer cakes with mountains of airy frosting. We browsed the photos and list of cake flavors in the Notes section on the WitsEnd Facebook page. Mom decided upon a coconut cake for her birthday. This was no ordinary coconut cake. Dubbed Grandma's Coconut Cake, the enticing dessert had been soaked for two days to saturate the cake with coconut flavor, then iced in a fluffy frosting and covered in flaked coconut. Six glorious layers of moist cake were slathered in a towering light-as-air frosting. Vicki Crouser, the owner of WitsEnd, has a contact number for the business on Facebook. We called, placed our order, and arranged a date to pick up the cake. When you work with any home bakery, due to restrictions you won't be able to pick up a cake directly at their home. You will arrange a time and public place for the cake delivery. This was quite convenient for us. Jerry met Vicki at the New Town Square shopping center at an agreed upon time on a day he planned on running other errands. Dad adores fruit .The Banana Pudding Cake was a perfect choice for his birthday treat. Four layers of sumptuous banana cake were filled with creamy banana frosting and vanilla wafer crumbles. This lavish sweet was hand delivered neatly in a labeled, sealed, cardboard cake box. If you don't finish the cake in one sitting, plan on making room in your refrigerator. All of the WitsEnd cakes use fresh butter and eggs. My parent's anniversary cake was a meeting of the minds so to speak. The Mandarin Orange Cake had the mandarin orange pieces my mom loves and the pineapple my dad cannot resist. The confection was an ambrosial tropical paradise. With all three cakes, we had no issues ordering or picking up the desserts. Vicki was always on time to deliver her box of sugary bliss. The WitsEnd Bakery Facebook also showcases beautifully decorated custom cakes for weddings and themed birthday parties. They make a variety of cookies like chocolate mint, chocolate berry, peanut butter tap taps, chocolate chip, gingerbread, and molasses. Several local restaurants serve WitsEnd Bakery cakes. For your next special occasion, veer away from the grocery store and head towards a local baker like WitsEnd bakery.
