Text convo with a friend this evening: Me: Unrelated to anything I just spent 2 hours at the Container Store and have never been happier. Friend: Wherever we can find peace! Ahh, peace. I don't know the meaning of the word. Though I'm trying! As a maximalist gal with ADHD in a small house I'm forever in search of an organizational and functional storage plan I can stick with. Through much introspection and many self help books I recently realized my issue is "if I can't see it, it doesn't exist." Which means I'm forever buying cans of black beans when what I really need is great northern and constantly getting takeout because "there's nothing in this house to eat." So, with this new clarity in hand, I've taken to overhauling my kitchen in the new year. And the Container Store has been clutch in providing solutions to my storage issues. A pantry that requires a step ladder to reach? How about a pull down spice rack? Deep drawers without dividers? How about stacking bins so I can use the vertical space, too? Expired baking ingredients from the last time I tried to reorganize but didn't realize until it was too late that the jars I put everything in don't stack effectively, leaving a teetering mess I've been afraid to disturb? How about a baking pantry storage set with equal sized widths for easy stacking? (And built in brown sugar softeners and powdered sugar sifters, too! Be still my heart!). Weird corner cabinets that are deep caves of awkward, oft unused space? Why not some pull out shelving storage? And so much more! Jar openers! Lemon keepers! Fancy pens! NOTEBOOKS AND PLANNERS! Omg. I haven't even begun to talk about the craft storage. What's not to love??? Well, ok. I guess the prices. Which can be high. But they carry many solutions I can't find anywhere else so sometimes I have to bite the bullet and pony up. I do my best to try and stick to their in-house products to save a bit of scratch tho. And becoming a rewards member will net you some solid coupons now and again. In fact, today I happened to have a 25% off coupon so I stocked up on those deep drawer organizers. It took me a while to find the right combo/configurations for our unusually sized cabinetry but I think I figured it out thanks to the countertop they have with grids to help you easily measure. Very handy. Staff here is lovely and ever so helpful. It's never a cheap visit here but it's always a beneficial one. And hey, thanks to my new pantry risers and lists of items we have taped to the inside door (another new trick!) I now know we have 7 cans of black beans, 4 of which are low sodium, and the last time I went to the grocery I got the right beans at last. read more

If you can't find what you need to organize your life and home, you need professional support and help. But I will tell you that you won't find ice cube trays. I stopped to find laundry bags to protect a very expensive bra which should be hand washed but I don't listen to that idea. They were out but I could order it shipped to my house. Had to look around to find anything else I might need. Did find a few items. Having a 1,000 sq.ft. apartment means I don't need what they are selling but wish this place was around when I was setting up my last house in 2002. Prices are not what you would get at that evil empire called Walmart but not that much higher. Service is so much better. I love everything about the Container Store other than its prices! You can literally find all storage items here that you've ever dreamed of and many others you have never dreamed you could store in fun ways too! I especially love that Marie Kondo has a collaboration with The Container Store now as well! :) Everything is great here, but I definitely avoid coming here too often given the prices, but when the need arises for something either in a pinch or I'm looking for some storage that is cute and uniform, I definitely come here to take a peek at what they have either to purchase them or for inspiration on what styles I like best so that I can find it elsewhere on the internet for cheaper. Sorry to The Container Store for doing that, but they're just in that spot that's slightly and uncomfortably out of my budget to do a bunch of consistent shopping at for me! read more

As a college student I found it to be a little bit pricey but I would still go back again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, helped me to find the containers I was looking for and reminded me several times to use the college student discount. *Disclosure - I came here today for a blogger preview. This is the first Container Store to come to Michigan - they'll be opening one in Troy in late 2016 as well - and it's very nice. I believe West Bloomfield has a similar store a while back, but it wasn't this brand, and this one is in the old Best Buy/Gardner White location just off of Novi Road. We received a bit of information about the company and the store itself, and then took a tour around the store. I'm most excited about the shopping trolleys (I live in an apt. building and have been coveting these for years now), all of the storage solutions, and the closets and bookshelves. The grand opening is this Saturday, June 4th, and there will be giveaways all day. The store is also donating 10% of its profits to Forgotten Harvest, which is nice. Finally, a Container Store in Michigan! This store is nice and everything feels new and clean. The people who work here are very nice and helpful. My only complaint is that the aisles seem Narrower than at other Container Stores that I've been in so it is hard to pass other people. read more

The phrase, "a kid in a candy store", applies to me when I'm here, at The Container Store. I like the sheer openness of the space. I like the rows upon rows of shelves filled with different sizes and shapes of containers. I like the tidy and organized shelves and the cleanliness of the store. And I like that I am surrounded by like-minded customers intent on finding the perfect storage and sales personnel who can look at a small box and see numerous uses for it. Yes, this store appeals to my organized self. It is no wonder that there is an almost cult-like following for this brand. Well, "cult-like", at least among my friends. In just one month, I've made three visits here, which is more "fun" shopping than I've done since the beginning of the year. Something to organize my kitchen, check. Something to keep my accessories in check, yup. Something to corral my recycling, absolutely. Now that I've discovered this new happy place, I need to be sure that I pace myself so that I don't blow my paycheck here - a real possibility. read more

We got in, we got out. There were plenty of store attendants whom helped us find the exact storage item I was looking for. They have a moderate clearance section my kids enjoyed looking over. Everything is very organized and the displays are helping in finding what you need. Parking is ample even though it's a very busy section of Novi. read more

On 1/17/22 I placed an order for some drawers for my kitchen. Within a few minutes I noticed that they will not work due to being a 1/2 inch off. I immediately used the chat feature and was connected to an associate (Natalie). Natalie said "sorry you cannot cancel this order because it's already being processed." I replied it has only been a few minutes please cancel my order. Again she stated she could not. So I called in and spoke to another associate. The other associate asked me why I needed to cancel which I explained and he said he would cancel my order and asked if there was anything else I needed. Feeling relieved I said no, and thanked him. Today (1/20/22) I see an email stating my order was shipped. Panicked I reached out again via chat and once again I'm connected with Natalie. She said "sorry, as I said we process orders within 10-15mins and sometimes sooner. You will need to PAY SHIPPING TO RETURN YOUR ORDER also include a receipt or order number so they can refund you." Not only am I responsible for paying for shipping this back, but now I have to go through this hassle. What a horrible service and customer service. I wouldn't recommend anyone use them! read more

The Good: * Staff is super friendly, helpful, and full of creative ideas! * The store is clean inside and out. * The aisles are clearly marked and wide enough to accommodate 2 carts side by side. * The Container Store has a variety of different options to help a person get organized. * When you join the PopStar club -- they get super excited and all near by staff yell with enthusiasm. The Bad: * Come with measurements and a plan! It can get quite overwhelming if you don't. * If you are looking for cheap organizing options - I'd probably try somewhere else first. If you've never been to one,, omg,, prepare to have your mind blown. Because this is one of those shops that you'll find things that you've never event thought you've needed in your life. Yes, I guarantee, you'll find something that will make you go,, "OMG!!! That's totally what I need!" From kitchen equipment to room essentials there are tons of items that you can buy. Even stuff for the garage, they have it here. That thing that you hang your bike with or that stuff you nail on the wall and you can attach stuff to hang things with. Yea,,, that stuff too. Anything and everything that has to do with containing something or hanging something they sell here. That and some furnitures too. Anyways, I do come here for things like travel liquid containers. Their screw top lids are just superior to containers being sold at the big box sell all stores like Wallymart and Scarget. Their kitchen equipment is too cool as well. I find things here like mixing bowls, spatulas and serving plates that are just too neat for the street. My fiance loves this shop as well. He just lights up whenever we are about to enter this shop. Service here is pretty good as well. The associates definitely knows their products and if they don't, they'll go find someone that does. Also, make sure you sign up for the POP rewards program. Sometimes, they even hook you up with free stuff. C'mon now, who doesn't like free stuff?? Anyways, it's always a pleasure to come shop or window shop at ANY Container Store for that matter. It's the CONTAINER STORE!!! Organizing gives me life!! I was so excited when I found out they were opening a location here. My friends made sure I knew about it also. Overall it is a nice store, but so overly priced it's almost offensive. There's a storage rack there for over $600 - you can get the same one for less than $100 at IKEA. There were multiple items that were so marked up, I would be shocked if someone bought it. The concept is nice, but the mark ups are ridiculous. This store is incredible! I've never been more excited about visiting a new store than I was visiting the Container Store. Currently this is the only one in Michigan with a new one opening in Troy. It has everything! And by everything I really don't know what everything is but its there! The organization of the store is greet. Signs above the aisles like a grocery store-for example office, kitchen, etc. the best part of the store is you go in not needing anything but you leave with new ideas and things you probably didn't need. The staff was friendly and more than willing to help. Furthermore I thought the prices were fair. One of the cooler stores I've been to and suspect it will be successful in where it is located. read more

I wish I could give it zero stars. I did my dimensions for a closet from my home on Sunday. The system told me to schedule a call or to go into a store and go over my design. I went to the store at 2 o'clock. There were three employees that were there to help design. Although they could find my name and my design numbers in the system. They did not have any dimensions that I inputted. I was told they did not have access to that. I questioned why they told me to come in without telling me that I needed to write down my dimensions, as the dimensions I am put it in the system apparently are not available at the stores. They said that was a flaw I then drove home, made the measurements, and returned two hours later at 4:10 PM. I was told that there was only one worker working at that time and I would have to come back at 5 PM. I do not know whether or not they have a good design, but I went there for convenience and instead wasted a lot of time At the end, the employee, who by the way was very friendly, said I should really tell someone about it. I am sure she meant that I should sell upper management or their corporate office, but it is a lot easier to tell everyone through yelp. Out of principle, I will never go there again. If they go out of business, it is a good idea ( container store), and I hope a competent organization will fill their void read more

I'm disappointed in this merchant. I ordered baskets that hang on standards and when I checked out saw that the items would take 2 to 4 weeks to ship due to high demands placed on the warehouse. I found something comparable at Home Depot and promptly sent an email to The Container Store's customer service department requesting a cancellation. I got an email back a few days later stating that my order was already in the warehouse and was to ship within the next few days. I then got another email from The Container Store stating that my order was 2 to 4 weeks out. I sent a copy of that email to customer service asking why this order couldn't be terminated and was told that my order was going to ship within the next couple of days, and any product I didn't want could be returned for a refund. Why do I have to jump through hoops to wait for the baskets to arrive and then have the hassle of returning the product? My request should have been cancelled promptly since it was within a few hours of placing. I shouldn't have to wait for the baskets to arrive then have to pay to return and risk getting COVID to have to return this order! This is an unacceptable practice and should be reconsidered. This is a shady attempt to get me to keep merchandise I no longer want. Very disappointing! read more
