Brendan at The Constable is Uh-Mazing! So I came in to this shop one night because I had gotten some recommendations from a friend...the lady behind the counter asked which artist I wanted and I told her that I had never been there before so I didn't have a preference on an artist. A man who I now know to be Brendan walked up and had some free time the next week so I made an appointment. He told me to email him the words I wanted tattooed with any ideas for an actual font. I sent him my ideas and he responded quickly and sounded eager to draw something up ! My original appointment was set on my mom's birthday...the appointment would have worked but a couple days later, I emailed Brendan to see if he had any appointments open up earlier in the week just in case. He managed to fit me in without any hesitation ! Now, I have a decent amount of tattoos and Brendan is by far the best artist I've gone to! His portfolio is awesome, his colors bold, and his lines crisp ! The first 2 tattoos done for me were script and Brendan ended up using a font he drew up himself...I've gotten so many compliments on the lettering and even had someone ask to take a picture of it because they wanted to have a similar font in their tattoo! And then comes my ankle...I literally pulled an image off of Google ( a crest for a town in Germany that I had no real-life replications of). Brendan took a flat, boring clip art picture and turned it into friggin' gold! It turned out better than I ever imagined (and as a tribute piece for my grandfather, that is super important !) I can't say enough great things about Brendan and this shop (which is super clean and has always been welcoming to me). Brendan is a total family man and super chill to talk to...it makes a tattoo session super easy when the artist is friendly and easy to talk to! He has always had great customer service, working with my schedule and responding quickly to emails. I have told all my friends to go see him, and I will continue to get tattooed by and recommend Brendan for years to come ! read more

Eris... The Greek God of Tatoos!!! I am new to the area (Aurora) and was looking for a clean looking tatoo shop with good artists. Needless to say I chose The Constable because, to be honest, their website got my attention. The Parlor looked clean and the artist all looked truly friendly in their photo shots. So I had to stop by to check it out. Looks like it was my lucky day when, over a busy springbreak, Eris stopped up at the counter and said, "This is your lucky day" as he had an opening. That's right! With no prior appointment I was able to get in for a 3 hour tatoo in just 15 min. You couldn't get a warmer welcoming as Eris offered me water and a snickers candy bar before we got started (I actually felt guilty for only having a few sips of water throughout the entire process). Eris is also outgoing and friendly the entire time! This was 10 times better than my last experience at my last parlor as the artist was dull and didn't say a word for 3 hours. I found myself a new tatoo artist and will be back in the fall for my next tribal piece. Until then Eris keep up the great work!!! read more

I took the small journey out to Plainfield from the City to get some work done by Kyle Berg and it was well worth it....would have driven twice the distance. Kyle is a true professional. Unlike many shops in the City who no doubt have amazing artists Constable, and Kyle in particular, has no attitude and no ego. His clients are clearly important to him and his passion in the artwork he creates is obvious. He worked with me repeatedly by e-mail, always responsive, to create the idea and drawing I wanted and I was not surprised when I arrived to see it in person that it was exactly as I had envisioned, and even more perfect than I had hoped. My tattoo is beautiful (guy is a genius, the color is stunning) and Kyle is just all around a very, very nice guy, always checking to make sure you're doing ok. The whole vibe of the shop is laid back and it is apparent all the artists are good guys who truly enjoy the work they do. Cannot recommend Kyle enough. I will definitely be back. These guys are the best. It's a complete custom shop. Nothing to pick off the walls or flash to choose from. Everything is priced by the piece, not by the hour! Which worked well for me. My tattoo was done not on a time schedule. Yet, a detail schedule that catered to the tattoo's longevity on my skin. People on here need to realize when it comes to tattooing, you really do get what you pay for! They are always willing to work with your budget! Kyle, Brendan, Jeff (piercer), Jr., Lu, and Lori all have a great mind set, and won't quit on you. Keep that in mind when you're deciding what to put on your body for life. I can not say enough good things about the staff and work that comes out of The Constable. I have been going there for quite a while now and have been very pleased with every experience. The shop is very clean an well taken care of. All of the employees that I have encountered are extremely professional and very passionate about their craft. Kyle has done an amazing job on my tattoos, their color has stayed as beautiful as the day were they were done. I even want him to fix my first tattoo (done by another tattoo artist at another shop) so it is on par with the rest. Brendan is equally as talented he had done an amazing job on all the friends I have sent to the shop. BRENDAN DID MY FIRST TATTOO.. this guy is seriously the worst artist in the world actually hes not an artist his work is the same as 1st grader he did my rosary and people saw it and they said get rid of it ..when u get tattoos u wanna show them off mine i had a t-shirt on everyday and only my closest friends saw it .. My friend and I went in to get piercings and we got them done by Kayla. I was getting both nipples pierced and I had been nervous the entire day, especially when I walked in. Kayla made me feel a million times better and was constantly reassuring me that everything would be fine. She was very patient with me and didn't try to get me in and out the door and she waited until I was ready. I am extremely happy with my piercings! My friend got her nose pierced and was feeling lightheaded after. Kayla got her soda and candy right away to help her feel better. She waited with us for probably a half an hour making sure my friend was okay and safe to leave the shop. Kayla thoroughly explained aftercare procedures to us and answered any questions we had. What can i say about this shop? It's absolutely Top Notch! From the work the artist do, to the environment, to the people that work there, it is all incredible! I have been going to The Constable pretty much since they opened, I have not once had a bad experience. I have referred many friends and they have all come out with nothing but great things to say, as well as great work on their bodies. Best shop I have ever set foot into. Professional and friendly! High quality staff that fits all of your needs. There is no flash any where in the shop, so everything is custom and one of a kind! The Constable Tattoo Parlor is one of the best tattoo shops in the Chicagoland area. I moved to the city, but I will drive all the way out to Plainfield anytime for a tattoo because this shop is clean, family friendly and just simply AMAZING. The other reviews on here that are negative are lies and clearly have nothing to do with the shop. it looks like some are mainly about the piercer who no longer works for the shop. I have to start off by saying this place is awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Kyle does beautiful work on my tattoos and is currently working on a sleeve :) He is a keeper... Now for the other righteous workers, Brendan also does a killer job! He does some pretty cool traditional work! I have a couple of friends who have gotten work from him and they are in love with his work too! I've gotten piercings by Jeff , too! Very clean and knowledgable when I ask a billion questions! My place! I got a few buddys around the US I work with. Kyle has a great shop, great artists, and they all do great work. Kyle is my go to for cover ups. Ill post a few hes done. For anyone and this goes for all shops. Stop blaming the artist or shop for a bad healing tattoo. Thats on YOU. Most likely usuing WAY to much ointment to heal it or the wrong stuff. KEY TIP: DONT USE ANYTHING. DRY HEAL IT. It will heal just fine! I have my whole body covered and NEVER once had an "infection" or "bad healing" tattoo from any artist I'veworked with. I got my third lobes, second cartilage, and rook piercings done here in the same day by Kayla and she was fantastic! I emailed her with some questions the day before I went and she was very gracious in answering them. When I went to actually go get my piercings done she was considerate and had a great attitude about the work she was doing and told me that I could contact her with any questions during the healing process. I felt like I was in capable hands throughout the whole process and was very comfortable during it all. I will definitely go to her again for any future piercings and I would definitely recommend that you go to her as well! read more

I am honestly surprised by the negative reviews on here, now I can't speak for the tattoo artists, but I have had great experiences with piercing here. I got my tragus done up in Downers Grove (big mistake) and I had so many problems with infections and keloids. The piercer here helped walk me through my problems even though he had not done the piercing. He gave me aftercare instructions to help get piercing back under control and he swapped my jewelry for something smaller and with a smaller ball to help reduce risk of irritation from catching on things. I am planning to go back very soon to get my nose repierced here. :) read more

I was very impressed with this shop from day one. I along with several of my Family Members have since had several Tattoo's from Brendan and can not say enough about his detail and creativity! When I would go in with an idea he would take that idea and turn it into a Bad Ass Tattoo! I have always been treated with respect and enjoyed the time I have spent in the shop. I have Tattoo's from one elbow around to the other elbow including my back and chest and would put Brendan's work against anyone out there. 5 stars is not enough for the Constable Tattoo Parlor!!! The whole crew is talented, caring, and up most safe and clean. I got a Jukebox on my forearm from Brendan and I couldn't be happier! Color is absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. In fact I believe it should have cost me more. This is a shop that truly cares about the art and making the customer happy rather then just making money. I wont go anywhere else and plan to get MANY more done by this crew. I can't rave about this place enough. I moved to joliet from Los Angeles a couple years ago and had a horrible time finding an artist I like that didnt give me some outrageous quote. I literally laughed in the dudes face at tattoo warehouse, what a clown. Kyle is the best in the area, the staff is professional and the shop is pristine. As a big guy it's really nice to walk Into a shop and not have every dude eyeballing me. Kyle is super nice so is everyone else. I came in for a hood piercing. Lori talked me through the procedure and made me feel really relaxed. They had an apprentice learning so she watched as well. Both made what could have been an awkward situation really comfortable. The shop was clean and the piercing turned out fantastic. I had previously had my belly button pierced here about two years as well. My brother has gotten three tattoos here and I've gotten one (of my four). We both plan to get more here. Brendan did my tattoo and it was everything I could ever want plus then some! The whole staff was funny and they have a good vibe in the shop. Most other tattoo shops I have been to seem to have a ego around everyone but I did not feel that here. I cannot wait to get my next one! I can't believe Jerry had a bad experience with Brendan.
