Cappuccino with a view

Spectacular views..easy parking for our long van...breakfast and lunch menu all day long, perfect for me since I can't eat eggs! Clean restaurant and facilities and we can go on a hike right here!

The Conservation Hut is open 7 days a week serving breakfast snacks and lunch with dinner being served during the summer months so customers can enjoy the sunsets. The views from The Conservation Hut are in two words: Phenomenal and Breathtaking;. high up and overlooking Blue Mountains National Park. Weather permitting the best seating is out on their open veranda. As for food, the lunch food I had was a surprisingly good smoked trout hash with egg. Though I could only give them Three Stars on their food with a plus for being unique, I'm not going to rate The Conservation Hut on their food but instead on the location with its marvelous stunning and beautiful views.....Five Stars.

Ok maybe it is because we didn't expect such a nice breakfast and tranquil setting before us, but what a surprise to have a delicious sit down breakfast at one of the most spectacular places in Australia. The smoked salmon has was delicious. The hash itself was perfectly crispy but not greasy and the salmon was delicate and not too salty. Lovely olive oil too. The ham and cheese croissant was light and warm. And the cheese nice and creamy with delicious ham. We were lucky to be here on a quiet Monday at 11c and sunny too. Wonderful!

Pretty good place for food if you're in the blue mountains. Good views from the terrace and food was on par. Tried the smoked trout on potato hash. Pretty tasty with some pesto drizzled on the side. Staff was friendly and efficient.

Chicken curry

Stopped at The Conservation Hut for lunch on the way to the Blue Mountains Wasn't expecting much from this place, but the food was actually pretty good. Portions are on the smaller side though. Ordered the chicken curry which I thought was pretty good!

Stopped on bus trip. We had steak sandwich and belt. The belt was very good. The steak sandwich had beets on it which was a bit odd. They also have ice cream you can purchase. Service was good and very friendly.

Quandong icecream and blood orange sorbet by the open fire looking out over mountains stretching to the horizon. Need I say more? Off the beaten track is this hideaway right in the middle of the Blue Mountains National Park. A light, airy space that not only provides great food and coffee but is the starting point for a bunch of bushwalks into the Valley-of-the-Waters (how poetic!) if you feel so inclined. Lots of stairs. Be warned. You may need added refreshment on your way back. They serve consistently good cafe-style food, with kids' options and some GF choices. They're also open for dinner on the weekends in the summer months. My only quibble with the food is that their coffees only come in regular size. Please guys, some of us need more caffeine and suspect this is a cunning ploy to make us buy two... But the view is what really counts here. On a tiny road shared with a bunch of B&B's The Conservation Hut is my fav place to take visitors to the Mountains or if I just need some serious calm. Even if the weather's foggy (not uncommon up here) it's beautiful, like you're floating off into a silver void. And clearly has a poetic influence. You'll be spouting pentameter in no time.

Four words: Beautiful (view), overpriced (menu), unfriendly (service), average (coffee).

I had been in Sydney for about a week and couldn't find any good salad options on most of the restaurants I went to. There were plenty of salad and gluten free options on this menu, I got the chicken salad - $24.90 iceberg lettuce, avocado, cucumber, pickled ginger. I'm Not sure if the salad was that great or if I was so excited to finally eat a salad. I don't remember the service being that great. I was in/out pretty quickly. The restaurant was cute but I don't remember seeing the views that some others mentioned.

I sat by the window and ordered as quickly as I could. Since I was with a tour group, I had limited time, so ended up having to take my food to go. I went with the Sesame Crusted Atlantic Salmon, served with pan fried potatoes and avocado salsa. The Salmon was lightly fried, delicately crispy, tender and well seasoned. That Sesame crust was also beautifully done, with black sesame and regular sesame. Potatoes were nice and crunchy, with great flavor, while the avocado salsa included red pepper and onion, which gave it a lovely acidity. This was fresh and colorful addition to the dish. For dessert, I had the Sticky Date Cake with butterscotch sauce. I've tried this in the States, and wasn't really a fan but having it in Australia was a much better experience. The cake was delightfully moist, with the wonderful taste of dates, was made even tastier with the rich, sweet sauce with notes of caramel and toffee. Service was pretty good. The waiter came right away, but the food just took a little longer than expected.

Here are the opening hours and quiet/busy times. Sunday * 12pm to 7pm Monday * 10am - 7pm Tuesday * 10am - 7pm Wednesday * 10am - 7pm Thursday * 10am - 7pm Friday * 10am - 3pm Saturday * Closed This review will probably change to five stars when I go. Still, I'm a big online fan because otherwise I can spend half a day looking for somewhere to eat. And the online menu does say they love people with allergies. However there is no mention of gluten or gluten free on the menu. Maybe this is related to the tightening of Australian rules into "gluten friendly" rather than gluten free. Since their specialty is hot sandwiches, I'm up in the air on the gluten front. If they will allow choosing from the sides and extras menu, that would be perfect. I also like how many of their prices have stayed reasonable, with five dollar coffees, I don't know if I can eat them but their egg sandwiches for Brekky look positively dreamy.

What a unique interior- hard to explain but almost like being on a ship. Can't eat it like a sandwich so ask for a fork :) Hubs had the Deli Rose and loved it. Ate every bit. Friendly service, lots of languages spoken here. Loved it Aussie 43.50

We'd never heard of Leura until our Blue Mountains tour pulled into the little town for a lunch…read morestop. Bakehouse wasn't the place designated for lunch along the way, but we checked out a couple other reviews and decided to hike the extra few blocks to check it out. The outside's pretty unassuming, and so is the dining room. The pies, though, they speak for themselves. We saw so much variety in that little shop that we started calculating whether we had enough time on the ground for the trip to come back again to try more selections. We held back on that impulse, however, and limited ourselves to 2 savory pies and one sweet. We'll be darned if those weren't the best meat pies we've had on 4 continents! Most especially, we will never forget the Kangaroo in a rich tomato goulash. We didn't see anything of its like anywhere else in Sydney (and we tried hard too). That ultra-lean meat was melt-in-your mouth tender and there was serious artistry in the veg and spicing that went into the rest of the stew to fill the pie. Then there was that buttery, flaky crust enfolding it all into a little dish of perfect, homey love that just warmed a body from the inside-out. Good savory pastries are rare as hen's teeth back in our home town, and so commonplace in Australia that we almost started taking them for granted. The meat pies in Leura, though, were something so special that they'll be our first stop next time we fly halfway around the world for a visit!

Only getting 3 stars because the girl at the counter had such a surly attitude. It seemed like she really didn't want to be working. Also, they were blasting pretty offensive MUSIC, lots of swearing in the music, not family friendly music. Otherwise the steak pie and the mince meat and potatoes pies were very good. FYI serve yourself, communal tables, paper cups wood cutlery and NO TOILETS.
