It was a very last minute "I can't be arsed cooking lets eat out" decision that resulted in us dropping in to see if Compass had a table spare on a Saturday night. We only got lucky because we were so early, 6pm, otherwise there would have been no room at the inn.
Being such a last minute decision we just wanted something quick to eat, jump back in the car and head for home. But our planned one course and off quickly fell to the wayside after checking out the menu. An extensive choice of starters and mains were whittled down to a Salt & Pepper Squid for starter for Super T followed by a Blade of Slow Roasted Beef & Mash and I opted for Fish Cakes followed by Pan Fried Chicken with Chorizo, Asparagus and Potatoes. WOW is all I can say, its was all very very tasty. Super T decided to have a glass of red wine with her meal which I had a wee sip of and have to say it was top notch, sorry can't remember what it was.
The staff were friendly and cheery, so all in a quality meal out.
The reason I wax lyrical so much about it is, the bill came to £37, which I thought was excellent value considering the food was worthy of some of the more swanky restaurants in Edinburgh. read more
