Bad photo, but the best nachos ever!
Amber K.

I visited Miros in a group of 10 last night, it's a cosy little restaurant, we were tightly squeezed around a long table but I guess it was the best way to get 10 seated in a small, busy place. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. One member of our party was an hour late, they let us order starters and drinks until he got there and said they didn't need the table back by a certain time. This was very nice of them. We must have been seated for 2 and a half, almost 3 hours which was great as it was a catch up with folk who hadn't seen each other in quite some time. So we ordered some starters while we waited and everyone's looked great! I felt some were a little pricey for a starter, upwards or £6.95 for a few prawns. That being said, I had.the BEST NACHOS!! Seriously, the nachos were incredible. £3.50 for a small portion that was actually really hearty! Sitting on a bed of refried beans say what definitely felt like freshly fried tortilla chips, topped with salsa, guacamole, jalapeños, a nice strong but melty cheese and sour cream. They had assembled them in a way each chip was topped well but has not gone soggy. Honestly, they were perfect! Unfortunately because my starter was so filling I struggled with my main. I wish I hadn't as it was delicious! My boyfriend did manage to finish every last drop that I couldn't eat. It was a lovely spiced fish stew which came with rice and two soft tortillas. The stew it's self was packed full of seafood, mussels, king prawns, small shrimp, white fish, squid! All perfectly cooked and sitting in a rich, tomato sauce. And at £13.50 it was actually pretty reasonable for a fish dish. I started the evening with a good old frozen margarita, didn't taste like it had much alcohol in it, but it was really nice. The waiting staff ensured we had plenty of drinks, checked everything was ok but not in the overbearing way. All round it was a great experience with great food. There are stacks of Mexicans around Edinburgh, but if you're in the area I'd definitely give this one a go. Next time I'm just going to get a mountain of nachos ;)

A michelada and some delicious nachos with a tasty Pacifico and Negro Modelo!

I am an absolute stickler for raving about Mexican food, as a transplant from the Mexican border area of Arizona, nothing can generally tempt me to try to find the equivalent here. But, on a lazy Sunday venture yesterday, my boyfriend remembered his boss recommending this place so we decided to give it a go after looking at the menu on-line. Walking it, I was almost immediately sold, the very tiny space with brightly colored tablecloths and an eclectic mix of things you would normally see in a Mexican restaurant. Their is very little seating space, and it was packed for a Sunday afternoon. I decided to go with the vegetarian burrito special and my partner opted for the steak and caramelized onion taco. We also started with a small nacho and low and behold I was SO excited to find they serve a michelada! It will sound disgusting to most, but I had totally been craving one and it is essentially a bloody mary, but with beer, and I love it with Pacifico. The beer came with my burrito for a grand total of £8.00! The nachos came quickly and they are so delicious. Great cheese and chips, everything was fresh and the refried beans were so nice, not greasy, but just right! Plenty of guacamole and salsa on top, with sour cream and plenty of cheese! They were busy, so our food came a bit after, which was fine considering our beers and nachos. The burrito was huge, served with a small fresh salad with pickled red onions (something I love to have in Mexican food) and the burrito was filled with sort of a veggie bean chili with rice and a very tasty tortilla. The taco my partner had looked equally nice and fresh and he said the steak was very nicely marinated and good. The service also was very nice and the meal was thoroughly enjoyable. It has a nice, casual atmosphere and on a semi-sunny day I could have almost pretended I wasn't in Edinburgh. I will definitely be going back to try other things, as they also serve ceviche, tacos, enchiladas and margaritas! It may not be spot on 100% pure Mexican as some might hope for, but the atmosphere and food definitely did not disappoint and it was nice to see it full of people all chowing down, it was such a nice lunch and I would recommend this to anyone!

If you like Mexican food, you will absolutely love Cantina Mexicana!! Situated in Rose Street, Cantina Mexicana is right in the centre of the city and it is just around the corner from the main shopping street in Edinburgh, Princes Street and so it is a convenient place to reach. This restaurant is fairly small inside, but it is very colourfully decorated inside, guaranteed to make you smile after a difficult day. Cantina Maxicana's menu offers an expansive menu of authentic Mexican dishes which are all freshly cooked. I love to come here for my dinner, and I have been known to dine here alone if none wants to come with me it - I love this place that much! I am completely obsessed with their chili con queso - a spicy cheese dip - which tastes amazing. Their main courses include nachos, quesadillas, enchiladas and tacos. I also adore their chicken fajitas which are cooked perfectly and are served with guacamole, salsa, cheese and sour cream, although they are a wee bit pricey at £13. Mexican beers are also sold here, along with tequila and margaritas. Cantina Mexicana is my favourite Mexican restaurant and you want to experience the full Mexican experience, this is definitely worth a visit.

We started with a couple of their local draft beers, the chilaquiles(special) and the elote. The chilaquiles were delicious! Very flavorful but all the chips were quite soggy and a little thick. We also got a hot sauce on the side which was divine! It was spicy and had a great taste as well! The elote was sweet, juicy and the spices it was covered in were delicious! For our meals we got the steak and chorizo tacos, cauliflower tacos, Baja cod tacos and the pork carnitas tacos. All of the tacos were delicious! Again, the tortilla was a little thick, which was nice but it was falling apart a little. The cauliflower tacos already had a nice amount of spice to them. These were a great veg option for our vegetarian. The steak and chorizo tacos were interesting as it seems they were blended into a crispy pan fried patty and the sauce it came with was incredible. The cod tacos were my favorite! The fish was well seasoned, super crispy and very light! The sauce it was served with was rich abs tasty as well. I wasn't a fan of the pomegranate but that was my fault--should have ordered without it. They did not have any dessert. The service was also so great! The staff is very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

They have good specials and we ordered their two taco special. The beef in the tacos was on the tough side and definitely could have been more tender. Overall this was a disappointing stop and I likely wouldn't come again.

I had passed by a few times but never stopped in since being on exchange, however with the end of my program approaching I decided to give it a go. The restaurant had three green flags to me: cash only, Spanish music playing, and the cooks were speaking in Spanish. I decided to order the vegetarian Chile relleno with a Coca Cola. While waiting I looked around and admired the decor inside, it's luchador themed! My food arrived promptly and I immediately dug in. The peppers from the Chile relleno had a touch of heat but wasn't really spicy. The flavors and textures were perfect. Washed down with the coke made a perfect meal. Honestly my experience was everything I wanted in the moment. I definitely regret not swinging by sooner when I was craving good Mexican food. Was definitely really great! Would recommend to anyone wanting Mexican food or simply good food :)

Poor food quality, enchiladas tortilla fell apart like it was super old and dried out, the enchiladas were cheese only but had a very sharp aged white English cheddar in them. Not edible. Beef tacos had no cheese at all and were so greasy they also fell apart. Rice was ok, beans were old and bland. Nachos were ok. A half carafe of plain margarita was like £28!!!! It was only 2.5 drinks in there! Plus it was frozen for some reason (did not indicate that style anywhere on the menu) and were difficult to drink. Brain freeze! Unfortunately, the staff/owners probably don't care because the place is packed anyway. Eat here at your own risk.

The tortilla soup was a little too spicy for my comrade but still delicious nonetheless. They crammed us in to one table with 5 people but it turned out to be fine so I'd give a review of 4.3/5.0.
