GET. YOUR. TACOS. HERE.
Their tagline is "owned by Mexicans, cooked by Mexicans" and, without a doubt, their tacos are the best in Edinburgh. Trust them, they know what they're doing.
The space is small (like it maaaaaaaybe seats sixteen or eighteen people [and that would be intimately]), but it has that Baja California taqueria vibe. It's colorful, it's welcoming, the music is loud, the service is friendly, the turnaround is quick, they're open until 11pm, and the food? I could eat here every day. The vegan fish tacos come in a pair for £7 or £8 . It's a plant-based "fish" that's fried golden brown and topped with shredded slaw, cucumber slices, and a healthy drizzle of vegan chipotle mayo. Admittedly, the tortilla chips aren't made in-house (they come from a big plastic bag) so they're not the best... but the guacamole sure is! It's chunky and spicy, I just wish there was more for what you pay for (I think at the time I paid £3 for the equivalent of a few tablespoons).
You get what you pay for, though, and Taco Libre can take all my money. read more
