First off, you will find a vast and constantly changing selection of antique and vintage home furnishings and decor- cabinets, hutches, shelves, accent tables, kitchen ware, a dizzying array of baskets in all shapes and sizes - which the the kind owners gather as they hunt estate sales, flea markets and the like. Most of these pieces are American made, all are handcrafted and one-of-a-kind. Some will have been lovingly restored by proprietor Damien - who also crafts new pieces and can do so to your specifications! We recently bought a house in the area and are slowly making it our very own. I'm in need of a short shelf/hook rack, which might easily be obtained as a cheap piece of crap from Walmart mass-produced in communist China - or I'll pay a few dollars more and have one handmade right here in Ohio. Take a guess which I've decided on. In addition to wood crafts, proprietress Shannon makes personalized T shirts, coffee mugs and koozies with a great selection of designs to choose from. Still don't see something that grabs you? No worries, bring your own design and she'll make it happen. They say you can't always get what you want but that doesn't seem to apply here! Something here for everyone and great gift ideas too. Any unscheduled closing (doesn't happen often) is posted on their facebook page, so if you're making a special trip might want to check that first- or call. They did have quite a lot of shoes but they pair I picked up and thought I might buy were $20 and I really felt like that was too much. We're talking $2 or $3 apiece (I got a tweed skirt for $1 recently) so don't expect to find last year's hottest fashion here, but everything is clean and in good shape and you may be surprised. Unfortunately, no place to try them on but at these prices, you'll have to take the chance. You'll also find books, CDs, toys, stationery, housewares, knickknacks, seasonal décor. I snagged some gently used large Christmas gift bags for 50 cents each. If you select a used bible or prayer book off the shelf, that item will be free - though I'm sure your conscience will tell you to fork over a buck or two as a donation. This store is operated by The Common Good/Preble County and proceeds support their work of helping needy families in the community, so you know your dollars spent here are going to a good cause. The prices here are completely inflated. I could go to a Ross or Burlington and buy most of this stuff for less money than they're charging for it used. A few things here and there appear to be reasonably priced, but if you want anything that has a name brand on it, you're going to completely overpay. When we pulled in I realized it was 2 minutes to their closing time, so I thought I'd just pop in for a quick look and come back another day. The door was still unlocked so I entered and said I realized they're about to close and I just wanted a quick look. The proprietress said, "Oh you're fine, take your time." Stars awarded immediately. This is a tightly packed shop with a little bit of everything - books, magazines, tapes, games, clothing, jewelry, wall decor, glassware, knick knacks and those things you never knew you needed. They have a member card where you get a punch each time you spend $10 and after 10 punches you get a $10 coupon. I was amazed to learn they've been in business five years and I never noticed the sign. I bought a little game for a couple of bucks. I really wanted to slowly go through all the books, since they are in no particular order and ya never know what you might find; but husband was impatiently waiting in the car so I'll be back another time.
