If I could leave no stars I would, customer is horrible. Ordered comic website said it didn't go through. Then they charged my card twice. I contacted customer service and they said I didn't make a purchase and then threatened me with attorneys after I posted a bad review. Instead of trying to make it better they made it 10 times worse avoid this place and their website scam of the century here. read more

Right across the street from Collectibles galore so how bad could it be. Pretty bad. Huge toy selection. The comics were well organized but nothing more than bulk selection. The comics on the wall were priced over ebay prices. I asked about some comics sitting behind the counter. I was told the owner posts those on Ebay. I was interested in a few. I was told he couldnt make as much selling them in the store since they were new comics? He had to sell them on ebay to get the most? I was confused. Bought some comic boxes and probably wont return here unless desperate. read more

Lived in Syracuse (well Liverpool) for the past 4 years and this is the one place that my son and I have found ourselves pretty much every week! They have an extensive selection of graphic novels, both for the comic lover that goes for the super hero kinda' thing as well as the comic lover thats more into slice of life/memoir type of read! I so appreciate the selection! Along with that they have a large collection of comics and its all super organized. Id be super interested to know where the 2 star reviewer shops for comics in the Syracuse area...because I've been to all of them and there are no other shops that I have found within at least 30 miles that match the selection that Comix Zone offers. Im not a gamer in terms of table top games but they do have quite of selection of board games as well as other fun stuff like figures and blind bags/boxes. There have been many times that my son and I pop into the shop and they have games going (magic the gathering?? I dunno.) and everyone seems to be having a good time. Im a female in my late twenties, usually pop in with my son alone, I go for the weird little comics, "kids" comics as well, and have never once experienced someone rolling their eyes at me or being judgey about my weird nerdy taste. In fact, Im always asked if I found anything new, what kind if comics my son likes, been given info on how to start subs, always greeted and wished a good rest of the week...I dunno man, its usually the same dude with the baseball cap and mustache that is there and he's always really nice and polite. If you are a frequent visitor (or if your not, heres a heads up) they frequently run great sales around free comic book day (May), Halloween (err October) and seasonally as well for winter and spring. Pretty much- you will catch a sale if you pay attention! Great sales too, something like back issues $4.99 end up being 99 cents (among other deals)! Absolutely fantastic if you wanna' comb through the comics and grab some of your favs. Also super appreciate Comix Zone for participating in Free Comic Book Day and Halloween Comic Fest. Ive also seen them host free events for peeps to come in and learn to play various table top games. Cool stuff for the community. I absolutely love Comix Zone. I'm a female in my 40's and am new to comics, so going to comic shops on my own was very intimidating. Everyone at Comix Zone has been incredibly helpful with not one bit of condescension or judgment. I find the reverse is true; when the employees are as passionate about comics as you are they are eager to share their knowledge and experience so you can increase your own knowledge and have a better experience yourself. They regularly place orders for customers who want something they don't have in store. Their subscriber discount of 15% is great, and their sale prices around special events like customer appreciation day and free comic book day are even better. I've been to several comic shops and Comix Zone has by far the largest selection of graphic novels. They have a huge kid friendly selection, including graphic novels and comics. If you want a unique board game they have a large selection. They have regular gaming nights/days and a wide selection for gamers. I regularly see customers ask Mike for suggestions regarding painting gaming pieces, and he always takes his time and answers any questions which come his way. I always enjoy the music or the movie that plays. It's a very welcoming shop, very comfortable to spend time in. I've started taking my young nieces there as well. I'm so glad I found Comix Zone. In a world where gaming stores have always had a reputation for cliques and scorn towards "uninitiated" customers (those who don't regularly blow money or participate in gaming tournaments) I suppose Comix Zone isn't all THAT bad. You may get an occasional eye roll, but they are somewhat tolerable. I also find that their prices are nowhere near competitive, and they don't change around their stock that often. I've seen the same games on the shelves for years. That being said, while they do have an decent selection, it's not the best for the area. I'd recommend this store to save yourself the car ride to another gaming stores, if you happen to live across the street. read more

I am a customer of this establishment and have been for many years, it's not the dark unfriendly comic shop of stereotype. The selection is decent, they cater heavily to the role playing game crouc, which I am not into. The big draw for me is the quality subscription service offered which on top of being free, they take 15% off of the price of comics, trade paperbacks and general merchandise. The counter staff is a mixed bag and the owner, who often stops in, is not overly friendly. I just go thre to get my books, so I'm satisfied with what I've experienced. read more

I've visited a lot of Comic Shops in my travels and this one, near my home town, is by far the best. I've been doing business with them for at least five years now, maybe longer. You can't go wrong with 20% off subscriptions (most stores only do 10 or 15% off) and this also includes back issue purchases! Even though I have moved away from the area, I still continue to do business with them - I have my subs shipped out once a month and since it always comes to more than $50, the shipping is free! And they are always helpful, no matter what the issue may be. I can praise these guys enough - best comic book store I've been to and I'm a customer for life. read more

People are rude there. Its a waste of time. And the people there treat you like your an outsider and stare at you. Not a welcoming feeling at all. My boyfriend has tried to bring me in there because he is a customer and plays 40K there, but i will never go there again because the other customers and his friends there are rude and made me feel uncomfortable and i was very much isolated once i walked in there. Im up for doing anything with my boyfriend, but that place and the people there are ridiculous. I went there before with just a friend before i met my boyfriend there, and the guys didnt know who i was, but they were all over me. But once they figured out im not a gamer like them, they treated me with such disrespect and have isolated me everytime i use to go in there afterwards. Awful service, cheapskate owner. Was given credit to the store after an event, only to find it expired in 30 days. Credit was paid out of a pool of money used as entry fees given to the store, and it is in violation of state law to expire in under 5 years. Despite having already gotten his money, the owner refuses to accept my certificate. Never before have I seen someone argue so fiercely over so little money when they had already been paid. read more

I have now been there twice and both times had very negative experiences. The first time I was looking for a specific rare comic, and when I asked about it the owner laughed in my face. The second time I came in looking to sell/trade 1 of my collection and once again he was not very friendly.
