My first time at the Comic Bug was my first time buying comics. When I told the employee that and asked for help finding a few comics, he immediately jumped in and not only helped me find what I was looking for but also gave me a few additional comics that he thought I would enjoy. They've been friendly every time I've been back since. They're happy to bring comics over from their other store or order them if they don't have them in store. This shop holds a special place in my heart. It's the shop that made me fully re-enter the world of comics. I work close by and saw it one day when I went to eat at Tub's Fine Chili next door. I was blown away at how many TPB/hardcover's they had. For a pretty small store, the way they organized everything is pretty amazing. I stopped in and scooped up the Bendis Daredevil run, and since then I've been back almost every Wednesday during my lunch breaks scooping up new issues. Super friendly and helpful staff, TONS of TPB's, solid selection of new/current stuff and Tub's Fine Chili next door. What' not to love? read more

first time here, and it looks like a Great shop i didn't spend too much time looking through every bin and basket and shelf, but there were great abundances of new comics and graphic novels, as well as a few hot toys, kotobukiya, and other action figures. Ben was the employee working today and he is a nice guy, we chatted a bit about San Diego Comic Con my wish, which again, i did not look through every single bin in the store so i could have missed it, but i wish there were more back issues. i only went through3 short boxes which did not have much to them. read more

Let me take a moment to talk about the owner, Mike. He is the most ethical and conscientious business owner I've ever done business with. He maintains a wonderful policy regarding any comic that you buy and end up not liking. Just ask at the counter, that is, if he doesn't mention it first. He also takes time out to help you find that right comic, even if your tastes are out of the ordinary. He is fantastic with kids, he hosts comic book creating seminars, he cares about local issues... Started out great, but they've been lagging on calling when comics that have been ordered or transferred. As I wrote on the Manhattan Beach store's page, I've had a number of comics that I had requested to be transferred from this store down to Manhattan Beach or vice versa. Have not received a call from anyone about any of them. When I go to the stores to find out what happened, everyone is dumbfounded. They have a nice selection of comics and paperbacks. If they don't have it in stock, just go down the street to Pulp Fiction. read more

The Comic Bug is one of those rare places that actually deserves every 5 star review - everything about it is excellent. Staff is super friendly and helpful - they took the time to learn my name so whenever I walk in for pulls, they start getting them ready for me, which is seriously above and beyond customer service. These guys are super laid back, friendly, and knowledgeable - whether you're interested in getting into comics, looking for something specific, or trying to buy a gift, they can help you out. Pretty much the opposite of every cliche about elitist comic shop guys. I got zero grief from em the one time I forgot to mention I was going out of the country and racked up $200 worth of comics without explanation, which was again, above and beyond. The selection is great - I'm mostly a new comics person, but they do have some back issues and rare books. The layout is awesome - the store feels open and spacious, which makes browsing pleasant. There's a small parking lot which they share with Tubs Chili and a liquor store - I never have trouble finding parking, but there's residential parking nearby if need be. Their hours are also pretty great - they're open late enough that I can swing by on weekdays after work if I want an issue sooner. They also do awesome events that are always well staffed and well organized. Seriously, this is THE local comic shop. read more

Everything about the Comic Bug is fantastic. All of the employees are easily approachable, very knowledgeable, and all around great people. With the store's connection to the Manhattan Beach Comic Bug they can quickly get basically anything you want. I have been to comic shops all over the country and I have seen every variation of a comic book store. For my money, The Comic Bug is the best all around shop in the Los Angeles area. They keep up to date on their new books, well stocked graphic novel selection and all the new toys and statues. Not an inch of that store is wasted on junk or gimmicks. The store is BIG, CLEAN, well lit and the employees top notch! Informed, friendly and go the extra mile to make you happy. They are happy to be there and live this stuff. They are also very involved in both the Manhattan Beach and Culver City communities where their two stores reside, throwing many free events like Free Comic Day, Free Comic Con (the first of it's kind). Love this particular Comic Bug. The Culver City location is much closer to me than the other one in Manhattan Beach. First went for their FCBD event and have been a regular since. They keep a good selection of the latest comics and their is a lot of street parking options if you don't want to pull into the mall lot. read more
