After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. Parts Unknown The Comic Book Store in Greensboro, North Carolina is a perfect example. I immediately found a side street parking space and parked my pearl white Lexus there and walked over to the store. It was a pleasant walk and the building where the store was located had an interesting graffiti on the outside, side wall. Inside I was greeted by a friendly and very knowledgeable employee who has also been a good friend of the owner for years. He told me how the owner John Hitchcock had owned and operated this business for over 36 years with around 25 years in this location and how the business originally opened up in Cotton Mill Square in 1989. How Hitchcock had always had a passion for comic books and started collecting them when he was 10. He started selling comic books in a store downtown 37 years ago and this led to his opening his own store. Hitchcock's favorite comic book creator was Alex Toth, an artist who had been well known for his expressive line and masterful storytelling. Hitchcock and him had been friends and collaborated on a book called Dear John: The Alex Toth Doodle Book. He showed me a copy of the book that was being sold there. The store had an inviting atmosphere and as I walked through the store it was like entering another world. The uniqueness of this comic book shop was that it exclusively specializes in comic books and books about comic books. It had in its inventory some rare and expensive ones like The Invincible Iron Man selling for $2,000, a Green Lantern one selling for $1,500, and a Special 25th Anniversary Issue of the Amazing Spiderman selling for $1,200, among other well known and rare ones in excellent condition. College students enjoy visiting the store because it's like a live history museum of comic books and also carries many of the current looked-after ones. And the store brings back happy memories to old timers and makes valuable merchandise accessible to comic book collectors of all ages. I highly recommend it if ever your in the area. To me it was an extraordinary and exhilarating experience.

Based on my first experience at Stormcrow Comics today, I would not want to use them as my LCS when my wife and I move down later in the year. While the prices were very good, the service was not much to rave about. I was standing at the counter a good 10 minutes or better, waiting to have my comics rung up. Then, when the guy came up, he seemed kinda lifeless and bland. In addition to that, there were dead bugs along storefront window sill, as well as dust about the store.

The young lady at the counter was very helpful and nice. I really appreciated our conversation about the new Superman movie. It was a great visit even though the weather wasn't. When asking for prices, on Magic the Gathering singles, I used the same app to check prices that he did, but he quoted prices that were arbitrarily high so that the the 40% off worked out to slightly above average prices. I requested the price of a sealed booster box. These are roughly 100 dollars at every store and online. Again, he told me it was 100 dollars after the discount was applied. Either he was being deceitful, or they charge 170 dollars a box. Both of which are not okay. It does not matter, I will not return.

He remembered what I liked and personally helped me find more comics to complete my collection. He is such an outstanding and outgoing guy, and I couldn't feel more welcome and appreciated in any other business. I will be a regular here as long as I'm on the area and highly recommend if you're a long term collector, or just trying to get to know the comic/card collecting scene.

Comics, cards, figurines, Pops, Star Wars collectibles, Star Trek collectibles, Hot Wheels, etc. I would not have believed the huge stocks from the outside. Plus some oversized Star Wars items: R2D2, a Droid, and a diorama of Dogabah. These guys are fans first and retailers second. Had a nice conversation about comics and left them with information on checking out my collection and possible deals. They were friendly and knowledgeable and willing to help. Check them out! Just leave enough time to browse around and maybe find that one item you have been looking for.

Turns out it was the old building and they were moved to a new one off Nottingham, but they were having an event in the old spot in a few days so staff was on hand to get it setup. off to the new location I go and was impressed with how organized and clean the store was. In my two stops that day, I dealt with 2 different staff members and I have to say, AMAZING! Kayleigh (sp?) and unfortunately I did not get the guys name but they were both super nice, very informative and fun to chat with. Thanks Ultimate Crew, I will have to stop in again sometime.

There is the main entrance/lobby that houses some comics and figures as well as where you check out; the back is a LARGE room full of comics, collectibles and large amount of Funko pops for those who collect those.
