This was so much fun! Definitely take the extra time to pick up your race packet before the day of the race, or you'll end up missing on the extra festivities prior to the start of the event. Event itself was great, and everyone's there to have fun with one another. I was at the 2pm afternoon events, so the route was already covered with powder at each of the stations, with the pink one being the notorious one that everyone wants to be colored with! And let's be honest: Even though the word "run" is in the title...clearly, no one was running in this event. It was more like bouncing around, mainly women, in short shorts, knee high socks and headbands. Hmm...if you're a lesbian, it was heaven; if you're a dude, you were in double heaven! Just wish the booth wasn't sold out of extra color for purchase! Will definitely sign up for more of these events in the future.

A FUN AND COLORFUL RUN INDEED! This was me and my boyfriend's first time doing a run. Now I know I can do a 5k without dying! It was worth the money and we both had a great time! There is no pressure to "win" or be afraid of being "last" because the whole point of The Color Run was to just enjoy and get colored! It's definitely more fun (and saves you money) when you do it with a group of people. Everyone around you is just in a good mood and there to have fun. It was nice to watch people dressed up in fun costumes - from colorful tutus to a fancy gown to a full body tight suit! I do recommend getting their as early as possible! As in, at least an hour and a half early! My boyfriend made fun of me for getting there way too early but when the run was about to start in 20 minutes a bunch of our friends were still stuck on the streets not even close to Dodger Stadium. They ended up parking far and walking far to get in. Do wear something to protect your eyes. I wore a cheap pair of sunglasses that I had. It will save you from getting the color in your eyes. I also recommend bringing extra clothes to change in afterwards or at least bring something to cover the seats in your car. DO NOT wear clothes or shoes you don't want to get dirty or care so much about! They pass out water along the route but you can carry your own water if you want. In the end, by the stage, people gather around and altogether we toss our color packets in the air! It's such a beautiful site to see! I would definitely recommend doing this run for those who just want to have fun and not worry about anything! Anyone could do it! I saw really young kids to older adults doing this run! Go out there and run the happiest 5k on the planet!

I've run this race twice: once in 2013 and once in 2015. Once is probably enough for this race, but they weren't giving out medals in 2013. When I found out the shine tour in 2015 WAS giving out medals, I had to run it. Touché, Color Run, touché. Registration is about $40 depending on when you register. The earlier you register, the cheaper it is, and they also have a team option which lowers the registration price even more. They offer packet pickup the day before and the day of. This has always irritated me a bit because they offer packet pickup during the week until 6 p.m. Plenty of people are still at work at that time and cannot make it, such as myself. So I've always been forced to come extra early on race day to pick up my packet before the race. It's not difficult, but it's not fun having to wake up earlier than needed. Tip: wear clothes that you don't really mind getting dirty. The Color Run says that their color doesn't stain clothes and it washes out, but I have plenty of pink stains on my clothes from when I ran the race that just never came out. So, don't wear anything you would be upset about getting damaged. The race takes place in the parking lot of Dodger stadium. Don't be fooled, you won't actually be running in the stadium. Parking was pretty simple. They leave spaces in the lot available for race day parking and then if you're picking up your packet, you head to that area and get it done. They give you a shirt, bib and a packet of color that you use at the finish line festival. If you plan on actually running this race, get as close to the start line as you can. This is one of those races where A LOT of people walk, which is awesome! But if you plan on running, you won't be doing any of it if you're further back in the crowd. Since it's Dodger stadium, there are some hills that you run on. Nothing major, but they're there. You pass through a color section each kilometer and there's volunteers on the ends spraying color powder on you. If you want more color, you go on the ends toward them. Less color, you stay in the middle. Then you finally get to the finish line where bubbles and medals await! Grab your medal and your snacks and head to the finish line festival. You earned it! I didn't stick around at the finish line festival for very long. I stayed to participate in the color explosion and then I was ready to go. They are playing top 40 EDM music which I can only handle so much of. This is a great race for a first timer! There's no pressure of getting a certain time and the focus is totally on the fun of the event. For me, one time was enough.

This run was such amazing fun! I would call it a gateway run. It is a FUN prospect to get people of all ages and athletic abilities together for a cause and a fun time involving some sort of fitness. It is not intimidating as some 5Ks can be and the color brings the element of lighthearted fun. I was part of a team and it was a seriously hilarious day! Because the race was in the parking lot, we were not sure we'd be able to park inside the stadium limits so we tried to find parking along the perimeter. I wasn't driving and I'm not really familiar with the city so I can't be exactly sure but I think we parked along Academy and walked down the street to the Academy gate entrance - we didn't mind the walk because we were early and it was FREE! We followed all the other white-wearing runners (say that 3x fast!) into the parking lot where it was clear we were in the right place! There were signs directing us to the large expo area with food trucks, other sponsors and lively music to pump the crowd up - which worked! We got in a HUGE line for packet pick up (maybe 100yds long) and were a little worried but it went pretty quick (15-20 mins) and gave us lots of time to get inspired by other color-clad teams. The refreshing thing about this race is there are lots of people just out for a good time! Its more about the joy of experiencing the event than the time it takes to do it and I love that! It was loud, happy and filled with mainly 20-somethings - right up my alley! Once we got our packets, I was surprised by how much we actually got. I've been to many other races costing well over a $100 and ended up with much more in this little $35 race. We got a cute t-shirt, a sweet sweatband for our heads, a bib with safety pins, two tattoos and our very own bag of color! I loved that we got to color ourselves before the race and it gave us something to do as we waited 30-45 mins for our wave to start... That was the only reason I give this event less than 5*... there were simply too many people for such a condensed course... you couldn't run, you could barely trot, and you would do well do not run into or elbow your neighbor with every step you took. If they have the ability to do a 9am & a 2pm, perhaps next year they should do both Saturday & Sunday and start selling out the time slots at smaller numbers. Regardless of the swarms of people - running through a different color every 1K was a blast! Yes, I breathed it in and coughed a lot as a result and yes, I should have carried water with me because of the dehydration ingesting so much powder brings BUT no, that did not stop me or hinder my fun in anyway whatsoever! I'd happily do it all again! There were 5 color stations and only 2 water station - another suggestion would be to have a few more water stations - and all the volunteers were as happy to squirt/serve you as the runners were to accept. One dude even proposed to his lovely lady in the pink section (her favorite color!) She of course said yes and the DJ announced it to everyone as well so we all cheered and celebrated their engagement at the dance party after.... oh that awesomely fun dance party! The DJ was great and everyone was so pumped up from the run that the crowd energy was awesome! PLUS the hosts would give out more color packets every half an hour or so in order to have a "color countdown" resulting in the crowd exploding said color and dancing til it disbursed! Seriously, SUCH GOOD TIMES! It was like a music festival and a strange tribal ritual in one - and it was awesome! We did smell a fair amount of weed but there was no alcohol present. I highly recommend this event! If you'd like to do it with your family, I would sign up for the earlier race but if you're a 20-something with a light heart, a love for silliness and fitness-inspired raves, the 2PM slot is for you (and me)!!!

    Celebrate!

It really is the happiest 5K. 2016's theme is Tropicolor and this was evident in the inflatable palm trees, pineapple frame sunglasses, even in the medals that they give out. Also, hooray for having the coolest shirt design by far! My coworkers and I had no issues whatsoever. Parking was a breeze, although I would arrive early, and the run itself was well-executed. In this year's packet, they provided a mouth cover-up. Just don't forget your sunglasses and sunscreen and you will be all set. There were lots of vendors giving out goodies at the end. From snack food to other freebies. Plus the little concert past the finish line was a fun way to wrap up the festivities. I enjoyed the good company and good vibes. We sure had fun at The Color Run.

It's a lot of fun! Got to fun thru the LA Galaxy stadium which was pretty cool. All kinds of vendors and free swag after the run. Cons: parking was $20 and not real organized. They needed more people giving directions. Also course not well marked. Planners were trying to make adjustments during the race.

I was very pleased with our time there - we made a 9 pm reservation and was able to add more time later. We ordered food - some hits some misses but everything was decent. Our party ordered mocktails and cocktails - the verdict on the drinks was half and half. I thought my mango mule was just okay. It was lacking the mango flavor. When we first sat down, our server greeted us but never came back to take our order for food or drinks the entire time we were there. Around 5:40 PM, I went to the front desk to ask if we could extend for another hour since we were planning to order food and drinks. I explained that our server never returned to take our order, but the staff at the front didn't seem to care and just said they were "full" and couldn't extend our time. There was no attempt to fix the situation or acknowledge the poor service. To make things worse, our lane time was cut off about 15 minutes early even though we paid for a full hour. Another thing that made me uncomfortable was that the server said he needed to hold onto my credit card to keep the tab open. I agreed because we planned to order more food and drinks, but given the lack of service, that felt questionable. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on my statement to make sure there are no unauthorized charges. Overall, very poor service and a frustrating experience. I wouldn't recommend this place.

After I found out we were going I looked up the yelp reviews and was severely disappointed. We went ahead and downgraded our ticket from vip to GA since we figured it would be a bust and didn't wanna throw away more money. This event was nothing like last years! We had a really great time. There were no lines for anything. The tots were like buffet style? And I never saw people waiting for them. There was a little alley with fun old games and there was usually one open. They had a larger scale Jenga. Not the huge one but much bigger than the standard. There was a main stage on that floor and lots of fun seating around there. Mini golf we did not check out. It looked small and my boyfriend said it wasn't free. There was lots of music and fun seating all around. Nice large pillow fort where the karaoke was. The munchie station there was giving out cereal. They had an inflatable horse race I wanted to try out until I saw someone fall forward on their face (would have been me too!) the guy running that was really fun and nice, thanking us on our way out. They also had this weird room where you draw on everything including men in bodysuits plus another area to play with play-doh. There was a cool old hippie bus to hang in. We didn't take part in the silent disco or the prophet but the prophet always had people in there and we didn't want to interrupt. Cool concepts on both though. There was also a cool smokers lounge. There was lights and visuals everywhere that really make it feel like a kaleidoscope. They have obviously stepped it up significantly from last year and I wish I would have had some good photos to prove it but they also had good bars with strong drinks ( and I did I mention the cool smokers lounge?) I HIGHLY recommend this event and would even go next year if they keep it at this level and maybe add some different experiences. (Keep the mini golf, wanna try that 4/20/20)

For 2016, FPAC was held for the first time at Echo Park Lake, a newly renovated city park and a beautiful venue for the festival. I haven't been to FPAC for a couple of years, and I was a little disappointed at first when I checked online and found out that the festival is down to a single day. When the festival was held in San Pedro, it was a 2-day event filled with two performance stages, food booths, Filipino craft vendors, demonstrations, etc. Even though it's down to a single day, however, FPAC 2016 had the same degree of excitement and pride as in previous years, attended not just by Filipinos and Filipino Americans, but a diverse group of Angelenos representing all races and backgrounds. Throughout the day, the performance stage offered performances by Filipino and Filipino American artists. The emcee was the amazing and talented Giselle Tongi, the host of Channel 18's Kababayan Today. We got the chance to catch the dance troupe Kayamanan ng Lahi (translated "Treasure of our Race") as well as Broadway star Jon Jon Briones (Miss Saigon). Kayamanan ng Lahi is truly an L.A. treasure, offering dance workshops to all ages as young as 5 years old. The youngest dancers of the troupe definitely stole the show. Jon Jon Briones, who starred recently at East West Player's production of La Cage aux Folles and will once again star as the engineer in Miss Saigon on Broadway, is another Filipino treasure who graced the stage at FPAC 2016. Plenty of Filipino food was offered at various food booths at FPAC 2016. Vendors included Neri's Turo Turo, Kapamilya Restaurant, The Park's Finest, Magnolia Ice Cream, Manila Sky, Enseymada Project. Due to the long lines at Neri's, we chose Kapamilya Restaurant, located in Fountain Valley (4 Stars for the Chicken and Pork BBQ sticks). We also finally got to try Enseymada Project (4 Stars for the yummy desserts). There were also various Filipino vendors at FPAC 2016, offering a variety of crafts as well as clothing. Previous reviews stated that there was a lack of vendors when the event was held at Grand Park in 2014 and 2015, and this was definitely not the case in 2016. Why not 5 stars? FPAC 2016 happened to fall on a very hot day in L.A., and Echo Park Lake does not have enough shade. It would have been nice if organizers made more tents and canopies available for attendees. Also, there were not enough seats set up for the audience at the performance stage. Moreover, there was no consistency between the food vendors whether they accepted cash or FPAC bucks/food tickets. We were originally going to get The Park's Finest, but they only accepted FPAC bucks, but there was no clear signage where to get FPAC bucks/food tickets. Finally, I wish that there was more publicity for the event. FPAC 2016 was pretty well attended, but there's room for FPAC to grow. The FilAm Arts website, for example, was not updated with the FPAC schedule and vendors until the week of the festival. I would love to see FPAC grow and get even bigger and better in the future. Don't miss it in 2017!

I highly recommend a visit at FPAC 2014 for the food and cultural performances. A great way to get a taste of the culture and food of the Philippines! The setting this year is different from year's past in San Pedro over looking the sea. More of a central location this time and the new location seems to attract more non-Filipinos (including foreigners) than the more secluded San Pedro park location. Instead of charging an admission fee, the event at Grand Park is free! Set on three different levels (areas) below City Hall, the feeling is a lot different this year because you'll have to walk up and down some steps to reach each area. There's two stages, the main stage (Legacy) and Generations Stage. The big names such as comedian, Rex Navarette, cultural performances, and celebrity MCs usually are at main stage. To taste the food, you'll have to buy non-refundable tickets with cash or credit card. T-shirts are available for $15, water is $2, and malongs are $25 at the FPAC stores/information booths. There's also vendors selling different items at the event such as apparel. I recommend trying the tropical popsicles (calamansi, ube-red bean, azuki red beans), shaved snow or halo-halo. There's also vendors selling Filipino food such as lumpia, pancit, and Filipino-style BBQ. On the upper level, there some Filipino-owned food trucks such as White Rabbit truck. I recommend trying the sisig tacos. Ciclavia runs through Grand Park and FPAC 2014 on Sunday, so expect road closures around the area. I'd recommend taking the Metro (red line, exit Civic Center) or plan ahead to find paid or street parking and arrive knowing which streets will be closed. FPAC 2014 will be another hot day on Sunday, so don't forget to drink lots of water to stay hydrated, bring beach mats or blankets, hats, and sunscreen.
