    My first 5k
    Franklin M.

This was our first 5K anything and we had a fun time running it. I am fit but I never jog for exercise and only ride a bicycle. This is not a major marathon competition so it's good family fun where you can bring your little ones to participate. Now I am looking forward to buying proper running shoes and shorts to use for next years event.

My friend and I heard about this run through Yelp, and noticed that there was a chance to win some tickets. (holla holla for a good deal!) Now, I usually never win anything, but this time I actually won! Whoohooo! Thanks Yelp! Thank you for my Sunday morning exercise. :) I'm a big big fan of community events. There's something very beautiful about a community of people young and old coming together for a big event. This event might not have seemed like a big extravagant fair, but as someone who has first handed-ly seen how community events are put together, this event is nothing short of EXCELLENT. Highly recommend this event as a group event for family or friends. Everything from having the local police, and fire departments on the sidelines cheering, and the high schoolers hand out water, reminding me of myself when I was in high school volunteering my weekend mornings in exchange for service hours. Listening to a grandpa on the running beside me singing Frank Sinatra, little kids running past me, and realizing that I'm a little bit out of shape... There's something special about ALL of it.

Now in its second year, the Alhambra 5K Pumpkin Run is a nice 5k race that goes through some of the nicest streets in Northwest Alhambra. The race starts and ends at Alhambra Park. The course is pretty flat and easy, and it's a very nice 5K race for beginners. There's also a 1K fun run for kids. This race is held after the 5K is run. Residents often line up the route and cheer on the runners, which gives this race a great community feel! Since its first year, this event has always been well planned and organized. Great job to the event organizers and volunteers! A health fair awaits at Alhambra Park featuring local organizations and businesses. There are often free goodies from most of the the booths. There are also food trucks available at the finish line, and I guess running a 5k gives you an excuse to get some comfort type food from the food trucks.

Love the run. It was very exciting and fun. The crowd was great! A lot of motivating spectators, which was really helpful during the run. It kept me going and I finished strong, even though I haven't been running for a long time. The host was great, she was very enthusiastic and motivating. The crowd cheered us on at the finish line and it was fun and amazing. The event had 4 food trucks and 1 drink truck. Variety of booths to check out and free stuff to grab, you can't beat that! The event looked very well planned. Everything was organized and the layout was laid out nicely. The booths had a lot of room and we got everything that was offered. I did a lot of 5k and this will be one of my top 10 runs. I will definitely be doing this run again. The course was flat and very easy to maneuver. Definitely great for beginners. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about doing their first 5k.

This event was so much fun!!! The energy from the crowd, and the free hugs were a nice touch! There were some creative costumes as well.

Such a fun/ cute experience. Definitely brought out my inner kid. The arcade had a good amount of games, good energy, and was perfect for a spontaneous night out. I have passed by this place many times and honestly wouldn't have gone if it wasn't on the card, so I'm glad it pushed me to try something different. Play for adults I believe was $15 for an hour. Located on Raymond Ave in between Colorado Blvd & Green St. You can find meter parking if you're lucky or park at the structure nearby.

Unsure how they handled making sure they weren't overcrowded or people were waiting too long to get a chance at the games but they did a great job and I never felt like I had to wait (or wait too long) for a machine to be available. They have a large variety of games from more modern ones like Switchs in the back, older versions of Mario Kart, older games in general like Pac-Man and my personal favorite Burger Time. Loads of pinball machines too. The entire facility (and bathroom) were very clean and the ambient noise was never too loud and I never had to yell to talk to someone next to me. Some games will have slightly sticky or unresponsive switches but it's just what happens with the amount of people that use these machines. We had an issue with a pinball machine and they were very quick to come help fix it and immediately get us back to playing. Overall a solid experience, not what I'd actively look for myself, but would gladly go again if someone else wanted to.

When I went, they opened from 5pm til 10pm, but stop admitting people at 9. - Entry: Carnival tickets are $9.95 (I paid $10 at the window), and they stamp your hand as you walk in. All rides are unlimited, but you still pay for food and games. I never had to wait long for a ride. It's such a good deal! Beware of mud on the dirt and hay ground since they water it and wear close-toed shoes. - Rides: I'm afraid of heights, so I only rode the baby rides like the merry-go-round, bumper cars, spinning dragons (think Disneyland teacups), mini roller coaster, dumbo, etc., and I died on the Ferris Wheel, although it was very smooth and did not sway. I watched my friends go on the Super Shot (smaller, shorter version of Supreme Scream), spinning swings, and a spinning ride where you lie on your stomach. We also went to a small mirror maze. There were more rides, like a large slide and many of them rides for small children. However, there were a few rides that did not work. A majority of workers were energetic and fun, but the ones with broken rides were tired and didn't want to be there. ***Food: Sort of pricy depending on what you get, but that's normal at fairs.*** - Standard fair food like funnel cakes, nachos and candied apples can be found here. Given the predominantly Latino area, there were many stands selling Mexican food and refreshments. - Churros. They were alright, but I could have skipped them. - Funnel cake. I went up to a random stand to get peach funnel cake that came with whippe cream on top; it was pretty good because they kept the canned peaches cold, but it wasn't amazing. It was also pricy at $7, but it was huge and I split it. - Sope. Bought a $5 carne asada sope topped with shredded cabbage, guacamole, sour cream, a slice of tomato, and grated cotija cheese. The masa base was so good and fresh; I saw the ladies shaping them at the booth! The meat was also flavorful and not tough. However, they skimped on the guac and sour cream. The tomato was ripe and yummy; I wish they gave one more slice. I added lime juice from the condiments on their table. I ate it all up and got really full!
