One of my favorite community events. As an Alhambra resident, Alhambra HS XC Coach, and with a child at Alhambra HS, I take great pride in the varied community events that regularly take place. The Alhambra Pumpkin gets bigger and better every year. I have built a relationship with some of the coordinators and am happy to promote within the running community every year. What's better than starting your Sunday morning with a brisk 5k, then partying in the beer garden with hundreds of your neighbors while we listen to local musical talents? (pst, the answer is nothing). The pumpkin run offers something for everyone. From racing a 5k or 10k, to a kids run, beer from our local Ohana Brewing, food/drinks from local farmers market, kids costume contest and so much more. Always a good time. They've improved the course distance. I'll keep coming back every year! read more

First time doing this run and it will not be the last. I have been seeing flyers for the past 3-4 years but I have never entered the race. Yelp stepped in and hooked me up with a pair of tickets. Naturally, the other ticket went to my wife. I was happy to see that they allowed strollers so we bought our baby with us to the run and we all had a blast. Super well organized event with good music and security. After the run, you can grab a bite at the farmers market while you make your way to the beer garden which Ohana Brewing hooks it up with 1 beer per runner! Definitely coming back. read more

This was our first 5K anything and we had a fun time running it. I am fit but I never jog for exercise and only ride a bicycle. This is not a major marathon competition so it's good family fun where you can bring your little ones to participate. Now I am looking forward to buying proper running shoes and shorts to use for next years event. read more

My friend and I heard about this run through Yelp, and noticed that there was a chance to win some tickets. (holla holla for a good deal!) Now, I usually never win anything, but this time I actually won! Whoohooo! Thanks Yelp! Thank you for my Sunday morning exercise. :) I'm a big big fan of community events. There's something very beautiful about a community of people young and old coming together for a big event. This event might not have seemed like a big extravagant fair, but as someone who has first handed-ly seen how community events are put together, this event is nothing short of EXCELLENT. Highly recommend this event as a group event for family or friends. Everything from having the local police, and fire departments on the sidelines cheering, and the high schoolers hand out water, reminding me of myself when I was in high school volunteering my weekend mornings in exchange for service hours. Listening to a grandpa on the running beside me singing Frank Sinatra, little kids running past me, and realizing that I'm a little bit out of shape... There's something special about ALL of it. read more

Super fun event! My hubby and I actually brought our baby for a stroller run and we had so much fun. The street was cleared and it was not crowded. After the run, you can grab a bite/drinks at the farmers market with some great music. We definitely had a blast at this event! read more

Very disorganized. The event was very disappointing. Maybe because it's after Covid and more people are participating? Might as well just run in circles lol The free festival afterward at the farmers market was worse. It's a KID-friendly event. We had adults participating in decorating pumpkins, face painting and getting a ballon animal for themselves. It's a free KID-friendly event for KIDS! Some adults need to grow up and stop taking advantage of the city lol The city's volunteers did not do or say anything. Very disappointing. read more

I love that this event is in its 4th year already! From what I know, this is the only race in my hometown. There has been some changes with the Pumpkin run-- the location of the start/finish line and the distances (there used to be a 6 mile distance?). I participated in the first race and this year's race and noticed the improvements along the way. This year, they had it on a Sunday so that it coincided with the Farmers Market, which was a great idea to piece two events together. (+) -Love the support provided by the local police department (they were basically available at all turns!), vendors, and volunteers. -Vendors: There was a "beer garden" though the line was somewhat long and the space was limited. In bigger races I have participated in, they just handed out beer cans, but I appreciated the effort and personal touch made by Ohana Brewing Company. -For a small race, I was surprised by the amount of local vendors-- from what I can remember- there was Kind bar, Yelp, a local radio station, and Nesquick (LOVE my chocolate milk!). -Liked that there was same-day bib pick-up. -Punctual start time. (-): -It is actually a 3 mile course, not a 5K (3.1 miles). -While I am grateful for results to be posted online, it is just the bib number. They only gave names for the Top 3 finishers for each gender. The rest of us were "mixed" genders. -Packet pick-up the day before was a bit chaotic since bibs weren't assigned to us until we picked it up. -Searching for race bandits. There was actually a volunteer who was assigned to do this, at one point, I had my bib near the side and the volunteer came by to ask for my bib. It was a weird but maybe necessary confrontation? Wished Alhambra had more of these events! Will definitely try to participate again next year. read more

Now in its second year, the Alhambra 5K Pumpkin Run is a nice 5k race that goes through some of the nicest streets in Northwest Alhambra. The race starts and ends at Alhambra Park. The course is pretty flat and easy, and it's a very nice 5K race for beginners. There's also a 1K fun run for kids. This race is held after the 5K is run. Residents often line up the route and cheer on the runners, which gives this race a great community feel! Since its first year, this event has always been well planned and organized. Great job to the event organizers and volunteers! A health fair awaits at Alhambra Park featuring local organizations and businesses. There are often free goodies from most of the the booths. There are also food trucks available at the finish line, and I guess running a 5k gives you an excuse to get some comfort type food from the food trucks. read more

Love the run. It was very exciting and fun. The crowd was great! A lot of motivating spectators, which was really helpful during the run. It kept me going and I finished strong, even though I haven't been running for a long time. The host was great, she was very enthusiastic and motivating. The crowd cheered us on at the finish line and it was fun and amazing. The event had 4 food trucks and 1 drink truck. Variety of booths to check out and free stuff to grab, you can't beat that! The event looked very well planned. Everything was organized and the layout was laid out nicely. The booths had a lot of room and we got everything that was offered. I did a lot of 5k and this will be one of my top 10 runs. I will definitely be doing this run again. The course was flat and very easy to maneuver. Definitely great for beginners. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about doing their first 5k. read more

Alhambra Pumpkin Run - Awesome medal! - Races & Competitions Near Me - Alhambra, California

I ran this event in October 2017 and will do it again for 2018. This was my first 5K run ever and it was so fun! The course wasn't too hard for beginner like me. I did however, got a leg cramp after 1 mile but I endured it to the end finishing at 29 minutes. They have students volunteer for water station and cheering you on to keep you motivated. My wife and my daughter also ran with me finishing about the same time. The event was well organized, plenty of parking, fun for everyone. They have festival activities after the race (food, games, merchandises, etc.) This year I've prepared and will try to break my personal record! read more

Considering that this is the first Pumpkin Run ever, I'm impressed by how well-planned it was! Although the bibs weren't available on the first day of early bib pickups, everything else pre-race went quite smoothly. Registration was a breeze, the shirts were really nice and quite well designed, and there was lots of communication via e-mail beforehand. We actually started the race on time, or was it 5 minutes early? Regardless, many races (that have been held for many years) start late and it annoys the crap outta me, since standing around waiting kinda negates all the warming-up I did beforehand. So good job, guys, for not starting late! Only cons were that there is no chip timing, and my GPS watch told me that I had only run 3 miles when I crossed the finish line, not 3.1. But oh well, minor things. The medal was pretty cute, I got a Fresh & Easy reusable bag and a water bottle, and the expo was awesome! I hope this happens again next year, as I'd definitely be back! read more

First time ever running in a 5k and had an awesome experience. They really did a good job with identifying the route, having staff to give water throughout the run and having volunteers cheering on the runners and offering high fives. My fellow runners were very creative with their costumes. I saw several runners even carrying pumpkins. They also had music playing and multiple Djs to encourage the runner. Overall awesome experience. After the run, they had the farmers market open with a beer garden. It was the perfect way to end the race read more

I enjoyed myself at the Alhambra Pumpkin Run last year. I was not a runner ... I was a Free Hugger! Hugging everyone coming through the finish line and cheering them on was so much fun!!!! The event ran very smoothly and was very organized. The race Coordinator(s) ran a tight ship. This is a amazing family event. The little ones running were adorable. I didn't spend that much time after the race and hug part, but what I could see it seemed like a lot of fun. Lots of local vendor participation. I have never seen such a great supportive Community. I love this race and I am not even a runner. I enjoyed this outstanding event so much last year and was eager to sign up again this year. Very well organized and uplifting. A lot of team-uniforms and costumes and everyone seemed so happy and friendly. Parking was easy. Plenty of water stations. Suitable for all ages. I would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

This event was so much fun!!! The energy from the crowd, and the free hugs were a nice touch! There were some creative costumes as well.

Got to join pumpkin run this year and had so much fun' we tried 5K which was hard but definitely rewarding. So they blocked off couple streets for this event and it was right by the weekend farmers market so it was convenient for people to shop after the event. The event was pretty well organized! They were people helping and guiding when we didn't know where to line up. There was djs and bunch of people cheering for us while we were running. Definitely was helpful when people were giving us water and high fives along the way. They also had a pumpkin booth where you get to take pictures and get a free pumpkin! This run is so fun! They even have people to give you a "free hug" during the race and keep you feeling super supported no matter what speed you run at. You can tell that the organizer​ is very thoughtful to include lots of local vendors, and having the farmers market at the end was a great way for a cool down walk, and a munch on some fruit and veggies after the run. Recommend for everyone. They even have a little dash for the kids, and when mine are older and walking will bring them along! read more
