This in many ways is the best print shop around. I also like to use local business when I can. The…read morepricing at Mendo Litho is certainly the best on the Mendo coast. The problem is, that if you are a professional business that does not have all day to get printing done it can be quite frustrating. The main cause of this is that although there are 4 people who work there, only one of them actually knows how to do anything. This means that every time you go in there you will likely end up waiting for a very long time since the one person is the only one who can help anyone. I have tried calling ahead, sending the document the day before, and other tactics but on one will do anything with your stuff until you show up in person. This is particularly frustrating when you don't live in FB. I can not tell you how many times I have drove to FB to get something printed and left empty handed. Today I wanted to proofs printed and waited 30 minutes and finally left without it. I really like all the staff, but no matter how patient I try to be, working with Mendo Litho is very trying experience. I use to print there weekly but I just can't justify all the time that I loose trying to print. So now I mainly print on my own crappy printer even though the quality suffers. I wish owner would teach the other staff members basic printing concepts. Either that or let me on their computers so I could print myself. It is so unfortunate that the staff not trained in printing.

I very much enjoyed working with the staff at Cypress House. I believe the same people work there…read morenow in 2015 as did in 2003 which says a lot. Cynthia Frank basically held my hand through the process; as well, I received great support from their staff. This small publishing house offered me their expertise, 25 years of it, guiding me, as I had no experience with the vast world of publishing. As a first-time author, I knew I did not want to search for an agent; not only dealing with rejections, but the long wait time, the potentially severe editing, and in the end, plenty of money out, but not much hope for income. I also knew I did not want to take on the task of "self-publishing." Cypress House has an imprint called "Lost Coast Press." It publishes several books each year. Cynthia offered to publish my book under their imprint. For me, it was the perfect match. We entered into a contract, and seven months later (as accurately predicted by Cynthia) my book was released. Publishing a book is costly, period. So much work goes into the editing, design and details. And that's after the many years I spent writing it! My book is out there due to the quality work and caring of these professionals.
