We dined in for the first time and we were very pleased with the service and taste of the Fish and Chips we ordered the Haddock and Catfish. Big pieces of the Fish and portions of the hand-cut chips were perfect. The Clam Chowder was filled with delicious clams and potatoes. I moved to Vegas about a year and a half ago. For me when you settle into a new state, it's important to find the best Chinese, Mexican, Soul and Seafood restaurants. I have found the first three with great backups, however finding a good seafood place that makes really good fish plates or sandwiches has proving to be a lot harder to find. Yesterday my daughter and I went to Codfather's on the suggestion of a friend. When we first walked in the pleasant smell was a good sign. We took a look at the menu, not a whole lot of choices but all I really wanted was a good cod or catfish sandwich, which they do not make, no worries, I'll get the cod plate, and my daughter got the catfish plate and we shared amongst each other. I have to also say the price was not bad for what we were given. Ok, that being said, I have tried many restaurants that serve cod and they have gotten the seasoning down. The one thing I have realized is you cannot season cod fish the same way you season other fish. I just assumed a restaurant with Cod as their name would have killed in this area. That was not my experience, the cod was battered fried perfectly but with no taste, I had too literally doctored my cod up at home. My daughter's catfish on the other hand had pretty good flavor. Now something that I've noticed living here in Vegas, is the restaurants Do Not cater to customer's taking their food to go. I read a review that the fries were perfect, this was definitely not our experience, the fries were warm at best and cooked too long or under the light too long, they were dark, hard and most rubbery. So, I will continue my search for a good or exceptional Seafood restaurant but all in all, The Codfather was not the worst I've had. read more

I had seen the Codfather multiple times driving around Henderson, and was so glad that I got to go there yesterday. What a treat this is, especially for people that love fish and chips One thing I have to say, is they actually have British people on staff! It's always cool when you're at a fish and chips place and someone comes up and gives you your food and speaks to you with a British accent. I know that's a small thing, but for me it really adds to the experience of dining here. Speaking of the staff, super friendly and helpful, offering. Great suggestions, and just generally are very warm and inviting when you step into the restaurant. The fish and chips were so on point! As someone who has traveled to England and Scotland, I have had some of the best fish and chips in the world. That being said, this place is as close to authentic English fish and chips as I've had yet. I did not have the cod, I decided to upgrade to the haddock, which is what the gentleman at the counter told me. And he was 100% right. Right, it is absolutely delicious flaky and tender with a great crispy batter. The chips were fried perfectly. Had a nice crunch to the outside and soft on the inside. This place has been on my list for a really long time. So happy that I was finally able to go! The service was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. I felt like I was visiting someone's home. Food was excellent. My boyfriend got the clam chowder and cod and chips. I'm vegan and yes they have vegan options! I had the vegan "fish and chips" and the mushy peas. The vegan fish is actually made of banana blossom and wrapped in nori (dried seaweed). They even gave me a vegan tartar sauce which I was very surprised they had available. I use to enjoy the fish and chips, but last 2 visits the fish was so greasy that it left a pool of grease in bottom of container. They put the fish on top of the chips which makes them very soggy. I couldn't eat them. I usually do takeout which makes a difference in quality, I understand, but this last experience was very disappointing. Service was a tad on the slow side, but I didn't mind it as they warned us upfront that since we were there on a Friday during lent it was going to be a little slower. The people could not have been nicer, great service. Back in Sacramento Valley, we have lots of fish and chips places, maybe jus ta local thing in Sacramento. I'll say the fish here I think is better than the fish pieces we have back home. My local places use pollock fish I think which is still better than those frozen battered fish fingers most sports bars fry up. The fried fish is some of, if not the best food I've ever had. Generous portions, tasty sides, and unbelievably delicious fish. Notable food items: Clam chowder: this was a savory delicious version with bacon and potatoes inside. Kevin: this is fried Haddock inside a wrap. A nice combination of flavors, and easy to eat. Haddock: this was a supersized portion of fish. It was fresh, the batter was crispy and light. Unbelievable. After hearing about this Fish & Chips emporium, and learning that it made the 2025 Yelp Elite Top 50 list, I decided to go here for dinner with Diane. Fish & Chips is one of her regular go-to meals, so she was amenable to sample a new place herself. To sample a variety of offerings, I began with a Bowl of Clam Chowder, which was shockingly hot, filled with clams, some chunks of Russet Potatoes, and delicious. The amount of soup was so abundant that I split it with Diane. We both thought it was first-rate. A request for oyster crackers yielded saltines. But really crackers were not needed at all. The almost scalding heat of the soup never really diminished, and I soon realized that I had burned the roof of my mouth. But, unfazed by this, I moved on to address a gigantic hunk of Cod that was brought to our table as part of my Cod & Chips order. The first thing I did with my Cod was to slice it in half with a knife. The golden batter held back the contents, and the white interior began smoking a bit. It, too, was very hot--but not as much as the soup. In all frankness, this fried fish tasted better than any others I have tried anywhere in the world except at Roy's Cod Place in Gibraltar. And it was clearly superior to what I experienced at Rock & Sole Plaice, a much more famous purveyor of Fish & Chips in London that had been the site of underground food distribution planning during World War II. At the Codfather, after applying a few lemon drops to the battered skin of my Cod along with a few shakes of malt vinegar provided in a plastic bottle, then dipping the fish in marvelous house-made Tartar Sauce, and finally biting down on the hot battered flesh, what taste buds I had left truly danced. Unincluded Coleslaw was just creamy enough, and with only a little bit of added salt was an excellent example of a fine side. And the log-shaped French Fries were very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Soda is served here in cans. But an added cup of water was graciously given without charge. We arrived half an hour before closing, but were allowed to leisurely finish our meals until we walked out ten minutes after the listed closing time. I was absolutely craving fish and chips and had to run over to the codfather to visit the new location. First off, this location is so much bigger than the previous one. They truly needed the space and I'm so glad to see that What they had done with a place. The portions here are huge and I'm happy to always be able to get an order of poutine when the mood strikes. Also, I didn't get a picture but the mushy peas are a must try! The name threw me off but I am so glad that I tried them! The lady that assisted us tonight was so kind and the food was served very quickly. No matter how busy they are, it seems like they are able to make sure your food comes out fresh and hot. read more
