Both of our daughters had a great year, one in kindergarten and one in Pre-K. The teachers were kind, patient, caring, and had such a special influence on the kids. You can truly see how much they love and encourage each child. One thing I really loved was how well they paid attention to each child's strengths and areas where they needed support. The progress reports and updates were always timely and helpful, and it was amazing to see how much growth happened throughout the year. Communication with the teachers and staff was also wonderful. Anytime I had a question, I always received a response quickly, usually in less than an hour, which meant so much as a parent. We also loved the principal, teachers, and staff. From the classroom to carpool, everyone was always so welcoming and cheerful. They greeted the kids with big smiles and truly treated them like their own. Our girls grew so much this year, both academically and personally, and we will always be thankful for the love, support, and positive impact ORLS had on our family. We found this center after my daughter who was in kindergarten did not meet the minimum requirement on the test in public school to enter the Gifted and Talented Program. The next year, when she was In first grade, we decided to find her help and enrolled her into the Smarts Club Prep Class for the Gifted and Talented Test. When she took the test that year she was scored exceptionally high and was accepted into the program. We credit her acceptance into GT to the curriculum of the prep class and the support of Dr. Meenew and her staff. Our daughter was prepared for the test and had confidence in her abilities. She was actually excited to take the test that year! Every program we have enrolled our children in has been exceptional. The tutors are patient and have a way of helping the kids understand difficult concepts with ease. Both of my children attend this school. We've been here for four years, and our experience has been nothing but positive. When I was touring schools, I visited eight in total, and this was the only one that truly felt like home. Even the moment you walk through the door, it has the warmth and comfort of a home environment. Their learning approach is Reggio Emilia, something I wasn't familiar with before, but it's centered on hands-on, exploratory learning. And yes, that means the kids get messy! They play in the mud, dance in the rain, paint with their hands, climb wooden stumps, and move their bodies freely. It's everything you want your child to experience, so I don't mind the extra laundry one bit. I've also received incredibly helpful parent handouts for big transitions like potty training, and I've always felt comfortable asking questions and getting thoughtful, educated responses about any behavioral concerns. They use an app that shares updates throughout the day, and I especially love the photos--both of my kiddos are always smiling, running, and playing. Their menu rotates seasonally, which has been great for my picky eater who now eagerly tries new foods (who knew he'd become such a soup lover!). They also host multiple on-site events for parents to join in on themed activities. The practice test were used so many times the answers were visible on the test and were a distraction. My student received the same score on the ACT before and after the program. Also, one of the biggest ways they supported my son is their flexibility with his meals due to a milk protein allergy. They substitute what they can for him and I only bring in a couple of things every now and then to supplement. I'm finding out now that not all daycares are as accommodating!
