In my attempt to recover some make-up classes, I inquired about a cancellation via an email. We were canceled instead. It took some time to get a response from someone in charge, unfortunately our tuition would be increased by 40% if we decided to renew even though I didn't want to cancel. Between holiday-themed coding classes, summer camp & after-school sessions, our daughter has learned so much. She's been introduced to both Scratch and Python through fun & engaging projects. The school location itself is really nice, clean, and parking is easy to find. The Cerritos staff are also great & really make the experience fun. My 8 year old son has been going to coder school for about 2 months now and I'm amazed at the speed the children learn. After the first lesson I asked him to show me his work and do the homework the teacher assigns. He opened up the site and typed in and changed some codes and it made the shark in his game slow down. I was thinking, "whoa! What just happened? How'd you do that?" Now my son is on to his 3rd video game. They have option for private lessons or 2:1 coaching. That was perfect cause my son wanted to do it with his bestie. His friend is more advanced but they are able to be in the same time slot and still get their individual attention. We've been with the school since the grand opening and my son loves it! Dipali, the owner is awesome and so are the coaches. My son has had several and right now he's with Coach Nikki. She's very thorough and patient. My son does online classes once a week but recently he did a Minecraft and ROBLOX camp which he absolutely loved. I knew my 7 yr old son would enjoy this but my 12 yr old daughter is in heaven as well. They jump out of the car "bye mom" and run into The Coder School. The staff is super nice and also so helpful. Since parents are encouraged not to enter the "classroom" area it's nice to have all clear glass windows to be able to see what's going on from the outside without impacting the learning environment. This is their area to be creative and have as their own. I can't say enough about our experience so far. I would encouraged everyone to try it out. read more

Our 8-year old has been taking coding classes with coach Jerry for a couple of months and he loves them. He is always counting the days to his next lesson and is excited about his homework. Dipali, the General Manager has helped a lot to work with our son's schedule. We really appreciate the summary the coach sends after each class with what was covered and the skill progress chart. They offer a very professional and structured coding skills progression for the kids, their "coder tree" and their perspective on building a portfolio were selling points for us. They adapt to each kid's level, not the other way around. There are also camps for out of school days. We love the flexibility of online classes, so hopefully, they keep those even after they are able to reopen their facilities. read more

My daughters, ages 10 and 7, have been taking 2:1 virtual coding classes from Coach Tanner for a month now, and they are enjoying them immensely. They look forward to class each week, and during class, all I hear from their respective rooms is constant giggling. My son who is 13, has been doing coding classes with Sebastian since October 2020. He really enjoys his lessons and is learning a lot with Python. He has become a lot more confident in his ability to code and uses what he is learning outside of his classes more and more. Dipali Patel is amazing, She always works with us with scheduling and making sure my son has been able to have a coach he is comfortable with and likes. I highly recommend coder school to any parent whose child is a serious coder who wants to really learn how to code. My son hopes to continue learning Python and move on to other coding languages like C++. He wants to eventually be able to make an app and learn to make programs. My 7-year old LOVES The Coder School! We have tried so many different sports, arts, and music classes in hopes to nourish some interest of his. Finally we found The Coder School; a place he is excited about every week. He's learning how to code for simple games and animations, while using critical thinking skills. They also teach about cyberbullying and a bit about the dangers of being online...just so valuable during this moment of time. The coaches write a detailed summary of exactly what skills he learned and projects he's working so we (my husband and I) feel like we are in the loop about what he's doing in class. My son is confident but has difficulty staying focused and following directions. Because he is so interested in this subject matter, his focus skills are slowly improving. The coaches are incredibly kind and patient. They're great about asking questions and having the child think through the process rather than teach at them. For example, the coach will ask "What do you think will happen if..." rather than just saying "This is going to happen". The communication and feedback from the staff is also top notch. You can see the progress and get updates on your child under your profile site. In addition, each teacher provides session notes that give parents an overview of what was done during each class. This is very helpful to know; especially if a child is forgetful or can't quite articulate the session. The parents also receive a coder review at the completion of a project. We highly recommend The Coder School. Our children weren't quite sold on learning coding until we enrolled them. Now we see them get excited about their projects and wanting to show us what they've learned. read more
