Mathnasium has been great space for my daughter who started loving Math from not wanting to do anything with Math. I am very grateful to Mathnasium for making my son loves math more and making it so much easier for him too. At first, my son didn't want to go to math class after a few months. But after I let Eric, Mathnasium's manager know about this situation, he adjusted his strategy and made math extremly fun and enjoyable. My son whose 10 (4th grade) has done Kumon for years and once covid hit, his math fell behind. He would cry if he had to do kumon because it felt like punishment, kumon would not cut it anymore especially with common core math ..coming to mathnasium has been such a great experience my son is so excited to go and actually looks forward to going ! Our son is 5 years old, and we have been attending classes at Mathnasium (Cerritos location) for about half the year. I am a pediatrician and am sensitive to how teachers work with children. The teachers who have worked with our son have thus far all been excellent- focusing on core concepts, building a strong math foundation, and building independent learning skills (rather than just memorization). Positive feedback mechanisms like star cards and prizes help motivate the children, and our son enjoys counting his card and "saving" up for a reward. There have been some leadership changes over the past few months, however, the quality of the classes has remained high thanks to dedicated teachers (in particular, we have enjoyed and worked with Julien, Kai, and Narit). The current director, Eric, is great and really takes the time to get to know both the children and parents, asks for feedback, and cares about ensuring a high quality of classes that meets students needs where they are at, which we appreciate. We look forward to continuing classes at Mathnasium this coming year and have referred friends there, as well. read more

After trying several supplemental math programs, my kids finally stuck with Mathnasium. They've had a great experience at this particular unit for the last few years and their improved grades and attitudes toward math are evidence of the program's effectiveness. The space/environment is conducive to learning: it's bright, well-lit with plenty of natural light, clean and quiet. When my kids arrive and depart, the room always has other diligent, studious kids working and setting the right tone. The friendly staff is consistently well received by my kids, and upon taking a few minutes to observe them at work, you will see they are always roaming to provide help, correct work, and give encouragement. My entire experience with Mathnasium of Cerritos has been positive. My child went from loving math to despising it with the implementation of Common CORE. My child has improved so much since signing up; the test scores and report cards are proof. My child raves about the tutors and understandably so. My children really enjoy going to the Mathnasium Center of Cerritos to learn math concepts. The center's director - Yatin comes highly recommended both as a math teacher and all around manager. He is very friendly, polite and courteous. He makes sure the kids are safely picked up from the center. All the instructors are very capable and patient with the kids. I can forgive that but I keep telling them it was not me and they keep calling. My daughter 1st started at Mathnasium about 10 months ago. I waited this long to write my review because, I wanted to have a enough time to provide an accurate and honest review. When she 1st started, she love it for about a week... then she started getting into concepts that she either didn't understand or didn't have the confidence to tackle. We went through about 4 weeks of crying every time she had to go in. Yatin and his team instantly picked up on this and began tailoring the work she was "assign" to do for the day. As the work started to align more with what she was learning in school she opened up and began begging to go to mathnasium every day. This place is AWESOME! My daughter goes to a small school where all of the elementary teacher get a chance to see and get to know each student (even before they are in their class). Her teacher this year has told me, "Whatever she is doing at Mathnasium is really helping her in more ways than just math." My daughter now has more confidence in general, she not afraid to raise her hand and attempt to answer questions in class and now LOVES math. This time last year she was counting on fingers, did not know her multiplication facts and barely getting a C's in math. This school year she has had Academic Honor Roll for every quarter so far and is on target to keep it for the whole year. I can honestly say that I owe credit to Mathnasium. Although it seems like the center is busy and it may look like the children are not getting enough attention, that is not true. 1st off unless you are paying for a private session there are usually up to 4 to 5 kids per instructor and they do spend time with the children individually. In my opinion they are there to foster independence and not hover over the kids, so no they are not going to hand hold your child, they will however make sure that they have the tools to do the task even if it means changing their approach. Also they are not a tutoring center they are a math learning center, so they actually have an assessment to gauge what areas the child needs improvement on. They will then build a work plan around those needs. Your child will work on their work plan along with homework but the goal is for the child to master the work plan to strengthen their skills, so that the learning gap decrease. They do allow children to do homework (after 30 minutes of math work) but it is encouraged that they try to complete their homework or as much as possible at home. At first I didn't like this idea because it would take me up to 2 hours of arguing with my daughter after already spending 1 hr at math, but as the confidence and skill set grew the homework time and arguing decreased. read more

My high school daughter has always struggled with math and this year is taking her required Algebra II/Trigonometry class. Knowing I would not be able to help her, I enrolled her at the Cerritos Mathnasium just before the beginning of the school year. It's been a great help to her and she has been doing very well at school. My review is based on my initial visit at Mathnasium. I had the pleasure of meeting Chelsea and she was the one who performed the math assessment on my daughter. Once the assessment was completed, Chelsea went over my daughter's strengths and needs with me. Although she had just met my daughter, I was impressed that her comments about my daughter were on point. They matched what both her teacher had said and what I have observed in her as well. This made me feel confident that she was able to get a good gauge on where her pacing plan would begin. Chelsea was very professional, knowledgeable and took the time to explain the program. Much too overpriced when your child really only goes for social hour. I needed to get my daughters grades up as little bit in algebra 2, she's in 8th grade and about advanced, the worksheets they had her working on were a ways of time and they didn't allow her to do her own homework for the first 30 minutes !! I ended up finding a private tutor who doesn't charge me monthly and who is more flexible and works with my daughters needs and doesn't just give her extra worksheets on fractions. They have all these prizes for the students to lure them in. Save your money and go find a private tutor ! read more

Mathnasium of Cerritos has an extremely happy customer in me. I gave Sylvan a try about a year before Mathnasium and it was a disaster! My daughter did not make it through even the assessment and it took that long before I could convince her that Mathnasium is different. I am keenly aware that it takes a special touch to get and keep my child focused and their team have succeeded as well as I could possibly expect. So far so good. The kids seem to enjoy the teachers since they are all friendly and helpful. It takes some of the burden off of us when it comes down to homework time. The tutors have told us that the kids are moving along through the packages that mathnasium prints up and they also print up more worksheets on the areas that the kids have trouble with so they can practice more.
