I booked here way in advance for our early September trip, we were seated on the open air balcony with Newquay marina as the back drop. It seemed a little chilly to be seated outside at this time of year, but lo and behold they already thought it out with plastic covers at both sides of the balcony and heaters right at every dining tables. Not only did it create a cozy ambiance but made it warm and comfortable as well. We started our dinner with salt and pepper calamari to share with a glass of Rose and I then ordered Brown crab with salad and fries on the side, while my partner ordered grilled pollock. The dishes were undoubtedly fresh and came out in timely fashion. It is beauty about traveling, discovering new places and truly enjoying it. This experience was made even more awesome due to the hospitality and great customer service from the staff. A must try if you happen to be in Newquay!

Popular local chippy as I could see when I decided to eat in as many local people popped by, is not a touristy fish shop on the main strip and all the better for it. There is nothing fancy, just a 4 or 5 tables and chairs with some plastic forks, the staff were friendly. What more can you ask for, great quality produce with some fresh sea air. Cant wait to go back. . . . . . .

Anyway, for 7 pounds you get a nice sized portion of crispy fish and chunky chips, a small salad, peas, buttered bread, tartare sauce, and a pot of tea! The staff were friendly and helpful and I am moving to Newquay next week so I will definitely be back. I did notice a lot of restaurants charge around 20 pounds for fish and chips but honestly this one was every bit as good! It's a simple cafe but the food tasted perfect!

So 9 of us went in and as I'm trying to eat healthy I asked for veggie breakfast but instead of ordering the veggie sausages I asked to swap them for one egg instead, she looked at me with horror and told me no I would get what they decided. I then asked if I could have no butter on the toast as she was leave but she ignored me and stamped her feet and huffed like a child. So after a few minutes a guy came back and said the costa I had previously could not be consumed in there and at that point I decided to leave. Standing outside a table of customers left and as they were walking out I heard them say that was terrible service and I seems like they were in the same boat as me with the experience. I went to another local cafe and had an amazing experience with really friendly staff. While I was in there after my order was taken I was telling the waitress about my previous experience and another customer in front of me turned around and said I bet that's oceans Cafe. I was gobsmacked but doesn't surprise me. Less than one star from me and I truly wonder how they even a business. The shop must be owned by new people as they have terrible attitudes. For example, we ordered plain chicken burgers and was given spicy. When we informed the staff the manager came over to the table in a confrontational manner and ate the food as though he was going to call us liars. This was a lovely chip shop we'd visit every year as a family but the new owners have let us down by raising the prices, decreasing the portions and providing slow and intimidating service.
