Absolutely awful experience. Not only did I have to wait nearly 2 months for my shoes to be done, they did a terrible job. As you can see on the pic, the patent leather they used doesn't even come close to matching. On top of that, the leather was cut to a different width. When I pointed this out, they said "we didn't have that leather in stock". When I pointed out the mismatch in width, she just shrugged. Since I prepaid, I had to recourse. What I would have expected was that when they found they didn't have the right leather in stock to make the repair, they should have emailed me and told me that and asked me if I wanted to still go ahead. I also would have expected more than an "I don't care" shrug when I brought the defective work to their attention. read more

We asked for four pairs of shoes to be cleaned. One of them needed a deeper clean as there were some scuff marks. My expectation was that the shoes would be cleaned. Residue removal, etc., from the inner soles, etc. What they gave back looked like they didn't even try to clean the shoes at all, and decided to give them back dirty. It was disgusting. In the photos, you can see there is black residue discolorationon the heels and inside the shoe that they didn't even attempt to wipe down. Then you can still see the toe indents with discolouration even though they have only been worn twice, discoloration and the dirt could have been easily lifted using their cleaning tools. It also looks like they may have scrubbed down the front of the brown suede shoes roughly without removing the black residue mark. They still charged full price even though we told them we'd have to take it in somewhere else to be cleaned. I am disgusted by their service and seriously warn anyone who loves their nice shoes to go somewhere else. read more

On Dec.14 2023 I took my boots in for major work.that included cleaning,new soles and insoles,and patching the worn parts of the throat/eyestayes.I paid $350 up front and the work was to be completed by Fed.5. My boots were not ready on Feb.5 and I got the runaround for the next week and a half.First being told that there was one more thing that had to be done and twice that the were being worked on that minute. On Feb.16 I phoned in the morning and told them I would be in first thing the next morning to pick up my boots or my $350 back.I was called just before closing time that my boots were read. I picked up my boots the next morning.After I got home and tried to put the laces in I found that when they patched the warn throat/eyestayses they had covered the lower 4 eyelets on both boots.Making it impossible to put the laces in. read more

In April 2019 I had Quick Cobbler re-sole my one pair of Kenneth Cole black ballet flats for $103.95.  My work order request was a very basic one.  Quick Cobbler advertises themselves as the fourth generation shoe cobblers with a wealth of experience and the place to get any and all footwear repaired expertly. My time is valuable.  I had to frequent Quick Cobbler 9 times just to have my one pair of Kenneth Cole black ballet flats resoled which in the end left my right shoe larger than the left one.  There was the issue with not resoling the shoes as per their original design.  There was the issue with not contouring the edges of the soles as per the original design.  There was the issue with the right shoe having a bump in the newly resoled shoe.  The bump made it impossible to wear the right shoe.  Due to numerous "attempts" at "fixing" the bump in my right shoe all the "handling" stretched it to the point it is now larger than the left shoe.   I have included pictures of both of my shoes and feet.  From these images I hope you can see that my feet are not different in size.  I asked Ron for a refund.  Ron was only willing to give me a refund if I donated my Kenneth Cole ballet flats to his in store shoe donation program.   I asked Ron why I would go to all the trouble of paying him $103.95 to resole my shoes subsequently spending my valuable time travelling to and from his store 9 times just so that after 33 days I could donate my shoes to his in store shoe donation program?  I love these shoes.  That's why I paid Quick Cobbler $103.95 to resole them.  They don't make these shoes anymore. read more

I got this pair fixed for the inside only the front part fixed for the first time, after trying out I notice the fixed part the black leather stains my front feet as this kind of mules can only wear with bare feet. THE OWNER WAS VERY GENEROUS TO FIX IT FOR FREE FOR ME AFTER I TURN THEM BACK IN THEY CHANGE THE WHOLE PART TO NUDE LEATHER WHICH IS GREAT. I hate to give such a low rating because they have great customer service and the repairs were done in a timely fashion, but I am really not impressed with the quality of work that they did on my favourite pair of Blundstones. I had these re-soled maybe two months ago and within a month the new sole had started to peel away from the leather. Also, the bottom of the sole is already wearing down far more quickly than the original sole... This is really frustrating given that most of the reviews here are quite positive. read more

Excellent craftsmanship. I brought in a pair of Birkenstocks requiring heel replacements, as both heels had worn down to the cork. Quick Cobbler charged $40, and it took exactly six business days to turn around. I've been wearing the sandals with the new heels for about a week now, and I'm extremely satisfied. The new heels were extremely well-blended with the old sole - you wouldn't be able to tell the heels were replaced unless you knew exactly what you were looking for. The uppers also came back extremely clean and the cork had been resealed. I may have been able to save a dollar here or there had I shopped around the city, but I'll gladly pay for the craftsmanship. I have been going here for years. I used to live upstairs. I took two pairs of shoes in for stretching, the price had doubled since my last visit. I realized a week later when I tried on the shoes that one pair had not even been stretched. I went back the employee was rude and he said too late we only guarantee for a week. While I was in there another woman was in tears as she left with a repair that wasn't what she asked for and the same man argued with her and said tough. I couldn't believe what has happened to this business that I have been frequenting for over 9 years. Go somewhere else it will be cheaper and done better. Brought my 2 month old Redwings work boots here to have toe guard applied. When I picked them up immediately I wasn't impressed with the work. They over sanded the toe because they didn't take the time to mask off the area to be protected. The toe guard wasn't applied evenly either. Some spots were thick and other parts I could see the leather. I decided to overlook the poor work and take my boots home. Not 2 weeks went by before the toe guard started to peel off, revealing underneath that the boot wasn't even sanded (the toe guard product needs a rough surface to adhere to)! Brought them back dropped them off early Friday for pick up Monday afternoon. Monday I find out they're not ready only 1 thin layer had been applied they say they apply 3. I ask for my boots to be dropped off at my home in the evening. Wednesday they call and explain they can't courier my boots in the evening but they can send them Canada post, I told them no I'll just come pick them up. When I see my boots this time the toe guard maybe has another coating but as I check out another customers boots actually identical Redwings boots, his toe guard looks as it should. The person I picked up my boots from did apologize for the work he agreed to be poor, refund my money and give me a small jar of toe guard so that I can just do it proper myself. I feel the management is disconnected from its customers but lucky to have staff that are apologetic. They need to seriously work on the quality control! I won't be bringing any of my other boots here that's for dam sure. Getting my money back and some product is probably the best experience I can hope to have here. If it lets me add a photo I'll include one of how they finally turned out. Oh yeah they also offered to put mink oil on my boots, I said please just clean the leather and I'll oil them myself, well they also didn't clean the boots!! I will point out that this was not a repair I was having done to my 2 month old Redwings work boots, and from my knowledge a pretty common thing people do themselves without any trouble or damage to their boots. I think these guys were a lot better when they were still on Denman...it seems that they hire a bunch of students to work on shoes between classes. Toppy's peeled off within a couple weeks, heels were built too high and not level, and because they were late getting my shoes back to me, they rushed through the polish and gave them a few nasty scuffs with the buffer. Sorry, no blackberry or raspberry cobblers here. This is a serious kick-ass shoe cobbler in the old European tradition. I was sad when these guys left the West End to move to 2nd Avenue. But I stayed loyal and still use them whenever I need to repair or refresh shoes. Most shoe repair shops are run by hacks that can't do squat when it comes to serious repairs. I hate when a shoe repair shop tells me to "just buy a new pair of shoes - these are shot" when it is a favourite comfortable pair that just need a little love. This shop is run by Ronald Nijdam who is a third-generation Dutch cobbler. He learned the trade from his father, who learned it from HIS father. He is a true craftsman. They take their trade very seriously and regularly take courses to learn the latest new techniques and methods and even enter into cobbler competitions! (Not the berry cobbler country fairs you just pictured.) They promise to repair anything that fits on your foot. And they mean it. They can handle everything from rock climbing shoes (with all the special tools necessary to do a full technical correct repair), doc martens (which the majority of shoe repair shops would tell you to throw out when the soles wear out), and even Birkenstocks with a new corkbed! For those that need it, they are also certified to do orthopedic footwear modification. I love these guys. And no, I don't have a foot fetish. read more

BTW, they always do a great job with heels and soles--and great quality--these seem to last forever. This was about the original distressing. Brought them back and they were done in a couple of days. They said it would be 4 days to do a simple resoling. They called me to tell me 4 days later they didn't have the soles! I called to confirm and was told they would be ready after all. I showed and they said they wouldn't be done until friday 3 more days. Then the mgr had the audacity to say they could have used an inappropriate sole and I would have been none the wiser.These people are totally inept. They lost a $140+ simple resoling.I hope the VPD read this and go elsewhere for their repairs. Terrible customer service and my impression is they have been dishonest in the past. I went to Gold Shoe Repair and had great, FAST service and $50 cheaper. I first came here a year ago after I had ripped a zipper out of a shearling lined leather boot. I love these boots dearly, and was almost in tears after I had torn out the zipper, thinking these were destined for the trash bin. I had even ripped the leather itself. I took them to the Quick Cobbler, along with two pairs of pumps needing heel replacements, and braced for the worst. There was a little conference in the back of the shop while they were figuring out whether my boots could be fixed or not, but, yes, yes they thought they might be able to help me. Relieved, I went on my way. I returned a week later, and my boots were completely fixed. They even reinforced the zipper on the other side and added another line of stitching to match the mending job on my other boot. They also managed to get two Ottawa winters' worth of salt stains out of the leather, for which I was equally grateful. I have since brought in a few pairs of shoes since for minor repairs, and the service and repair quality has always exceeded my expectations. They do take awhile to do repairs, around a week, so don't come here if you need your shoes back tomorrow. They are a bit on the pricey side, but I spend good money on shoes, and a repair is much cheaper and easier than replacing a well-loved pair of shoes. I bring my cheap $100 pumps elsewhere just to get the heel soles replaced, because that is a simple and easy job that can be done in a morning, but I only trust Quick Cobbler with complicated repairs or my "good" shoes. read more

This was my first visit to a cobbler, and I was vaguely embarrassed bringing in the heels I'd been wearing to work for over a year (except for winter of course) as I had completely destroyed the lining and was concerned that it was kind of well . . . gross. My embarrassment immediately faded when the girl who helped me seemed to have no issue at all poking at my shoes and I could see little leather bit remnants all over her apron and hands. Quick Cobbler is obviously a serious workshop, I counted three employees and all of them were working at reconditioning shoes. I chose Quick Cobbler based on Yelp reviews and I knew that Yelpers had it right when the customer who was helped before me was obviously some sort of vintage store owner as she was both dropping off and picking up a ton of shoes to be reconditioned. I let on that it was my first time when I asked what the cost was like ($33 total for fixing the absolutely mangled insoles . . . seriously, I had gone through the insoles and started wearing away at the structure of the shoe and $12 for a patch where my toe was breaking through the leather) as she was ringing me up and she took the opportunity to let me know that my heels needed to be replaced soon as well. When I chose not to add on the extra cost she educated me on how to tell when they absolutely need to be replaced (before the wear breaks through the tip of the heel). My shoes were ready for pick up in 48 hours. Overall I'm very pleased, four stars instead of five only because I don't know how their prices compare to other cobblers and because patching the wear in the toe doesn't really make the shoe look perfect again and I wish that had been explained to me beforehand. Now I know to have it repaired preemptivly - which I tried to do, but I had to wait for my other heels to break in enough before I could send these to the shop! Lessons learned. Anyhow repairing irreplaceable expensive shoes is certainly better than a) paying for new expensive shoes and b) trying to find new shoes that I like in the first place! read more

Very organized and friendly staff. Ordered gold shoe cream, they brought it in along with a pewter colored one to tone down the color to my liking. I just bought the gold. Then I changed my mind, and phoned back for the pewter as well. They remembered me, set it aside for later pickup. I've taken several pairs of shoes here and always been more than pleased with the results, but last time was when I realized that this place is INCREDIBLE. Took a pair of 3 yr old boots that had suffered 2 salt-filled, east coast winters before 1 rainy Vancouver winter. They were gross, but I was broke and unable to buy a new pair. They completely rebuilt the sole and toe (inside & out) and I swear they look better than when I bought them. On one of the toes they had to do more repairs than initially anticipated, but refused to charge me for it as they had not included it in the initial price quoted to me. That is service. Did I mention they're ridiculously timely? And the cost is always low, especially when the shoes are beloved favourites. Also, I once took earmuffs to be repaired here and although they are shoes only they advised me where I could take them.. and they were right. read more

Two old pairs of Blundstones both sprang leaks this winter. I thought I was going to have to consign them to the garbage but a quick search uncovered this place, offering a re-soling service. I took both pairs in and was offered two different options. Both Vibram soles. One heavy duty, that would alter the appearance of the boots around the seam, but offered a more robust seal and a stronger fix. The other, more cosmetically appealing but with a risk of failure. I opted for one of each. The price was in line with what I expected, and significantly less than new boots. The work was done within the promised time - I don't care about quick if they do the job right and when they say they will. After wearing both pairs a few times, in rainy weather, I can safely say I'm pretty pleased with the results. It feels like the new soles will now probably outlast the uppers! read more

Meh. Customer service was about 4/10, borderline unfriendly, cost a little over $20 to get pieces of rubber fashioned on my boot heels to keep me on my feet. I really wasn't wowed by anything about this, especially when the girl who helped when I dropped off my boots didn't believe a small/minor modification could be done when my friend (who has the exact same pair of boots as me) has had it done elsewhere. Oh, and it was just about 2 weeks to have that done. It wasn't an awful experience but it certainly wasn't good enough for he to want to go back. The most frustrating part was that I told the girl they were slippery boots and felt the sole should be replaced, she insisted it was just the heel. Love this place. Used to go to it when I lived in the West End (ages ago), and was delighted to rediscover it. Their cheeky sign (When it comes to leather and rubber, we dominate!) makes me smile every time I walk by. Quality work. They know what they're doing. Best quality in the city - craftsman meets artisan. No 'a bit of glue and some nails and we're done' here. The only thing is 'quick' is no longer applicable - typically the soonest you can get your shoes back is a week and a half! But that's because they're so good and word's getting around and they've been bringing on more staff (13 now I think they might have said?) and can't keep up. So as long as you don't need your shoes/boots back quickly, and are willing to pay a bit more for superb work, this is the place. The Quality Cobbler or The Craftsman Cobbler might be a good re-name! read more

I love these guys... I actually would take my shoes here when I lived elsewhere! I think the attention to detail is a bit less since they've hired on more staff (I am pretty anal about my shoes though, esp. at $600 a pop). However, they're the only guys I trust in Vancouver to handle my Manolos, Christian Louboutins, etc... Prices are a few dollars higher than the others, but they do a great job and are friendly and efficient. they have done heel caps, zipsoles and snapped stiletto heel replacements for me. I wish they had slightly better color matching of leather for heel replacements and that they're a bit more careful with the red zipsoles when it joins the original sole, but that's just my OCDness. After unnecessarily palpating for a week, I finally got my suede booties back, clean and almost like new. I thought my abused velvet booties (that have suffered everything from rain, snow, and 1" deep puddle) wedge was barely salvageable; but Quick Cobbler managed to do their magic. The girl was honest in warning me that something MAY go wrong and the suede might be discolored due to the washing (thus the palpating), but thankfully they turned out fine. Great place to restore abused shoes. read more
