Cobbling is a dying art. Damn cheap cheap cheap addiction of the world. If you own a decent pair of shoes or boots, you know they are worth repairing. I had a pair of boots with worn heels. The friendly Chinese couple here did an excellent job, literally making them look new. Turnaround takes a few days, but it's worth it. read more

The couple who run this little place are friendly and do quality work. They don't just repair shoes. I've seen them sewing up backpacks and they even fixed the busted zipper on my winter coat. You'll have to leave a deposit when dropping off items to be fixed. read more

Here is the reasons why I highly recommend Progressive Shoe Service. One thing to know about this shop is that it is closed for lunch from 1-2pm and they are not open on Tuesdays and Sundays. They DONOT take credit cards they accept cash and debit only. - Your shoes are kept in the back away from anyone snatching them (I went to pick up a pair of my Gucci shoes at another shoe repair store and I was shocked when I went in to pick them up that they were sitting on a shelf outside of the cashier, I was more shocked that they were still there) - I have brought in many pairs of shoes to Progressive so far before writing this review and I have had no problems at all with damages or being dissatisfied in anyway with the services. I had a pair of boots that needed a new sole and they came back to me polished and beautiful. - If you are in a rush, paranoid about a special pair of shoes or high end ones you do not feel comfortable sitting around in the shop waiting for its turn you can always ask for a rush on them, of course with a fee but it nice that they have this option. I have used the rush service twice myself (They are sometimes really busy so the rush service can be from that day till the next morning depending how important your need for the shoes are but from my experience they are willing to help you out as best they can) UPDATE* I have recently brought in some Louis Vuitton straps that were way too long, they did an amazing job! I was so paranoid as it would of cost a lot to order in new straps if things didn't work out. I also had a pair of pumps stretched out that were too narrow, very happy with all the services. - Really nice couple, positive and professional. read more

I've had several pairs of old shoes fixed here for an unbelievable price. The owners do very good work and take the time to explain options and to show exactly what they plan to do. Most recently I had the front soles on a pair of boots replaced along with the heels on a pair of dress shoes, all for $60. They also do heavy-duty zipper and repair work on backpacks, etc. If there were a downside, it would be that work tends to take a week to complete, but in my opinion it's worth the wait for the reasonable prices and good workmanship. read more

I was recommended this place after a post I made on Facebook of my brand new black running shoes that I ordered not being stretched properly. I actually did not know that shoe stretching was a think. I tried everything I could to break these shoes in and yes....these were the right size. I went on Google and pintrest and did everything recommended yet one of the shoe was too narrow in the front while the other one was working perfectly. One of my friends suggested coming here after she bought athletic shoes on-line that needed some help being worked in. The hours of operation are a bit odd which makes it difficult to come here if you don't work in the area, therefore, had to come on the weekend when it was the most busiest, therefore, I had to leave my shoes for a few days. read more

Verdict: Friendly and very efficient service I came in on a Tuesday afternoon with a pair of stiletto boots that needed heel replacements, and I needed them ready for pickup by Thursday before closing. The owner at the counter said "no problem", and I left them in her hands. By 6pm the same day, she called me to let me know my repairs were done and I could pick them up the following morning...a full day before my requested completion time, which was a tight turnaround as it was! I've since picked up my boots; the once horribly mangled and worn away heel tips look as good as new now. My bill came to $13, which I find to be a very reasonable price for such prompt service. read more

The owners of this place, Tito and Candace (sp?) are simply the best! Courteous, efficient, and very knowledgeable. They keep their website up to date, so any closures due to holidays have always been listed whenever I've checked. While they don't take Visa, they do now take MasterCard. No misunderstandings as to what the outcome will be with tricky jobs, so I've never had any unhappy surprises when picking up my leather goods. Highly recommended! read more

I work close by but I have never stopped in. I recently found out that some of my friends use this place so I thought I'd give it a try. I brought in one of my old but only slightly used boots from the early 2000's, that I had in storage for several years. You know the ones with the wider and chunkier soles. "So not in right now." They shaved down the sides, lowered the overall height, and made new grips, making it look so much more sleek. If only they could change the square toe to a round or sharper one but that's not possible. At least now, I will wear these boots again. Great Job Tito... read more

I had bought a pair of shoes to wear at my wedding and realized they needed to be altered and had been told by another shoe repair place that it couldn't be done. I was recommended to Progressive that "if anyone can do it, they can" and I brought the shoes in and the gentleman behind the counter assured me it would be no problem. He was right! They did a great job, and were incredibly reasonably priced. Definitely will be bringing my next pair of shoes that need repairing here! I only took away 1 star because when I was trying to drop them off I arrived at the store in the morning when they were supposed to be open, and they weren't, so I had to come back later. read more

I have now been to this store 3 times during their published business hours and they have been closed. Two times they were closed for an hour during the middle of the day, this time they have piece of paper on door stating they are closed for the next two weeks for a winter vacation. Good thing there are many other options with better reviews near by. Also, stop advertising "best in Vancouver" status, that was 1994. read more

Brought my Fluevog boots in because I thought they were a bit loose around the calves. The lady told me that they actually fit just fine, and that it would not be worth the $100 or so to alter them, even though they could do it. I appreciated that she was honest instead of milking me for my money. I'd return there for any future shoe services. read more

BAD SERVICE! The man was very nice when I went in with a pair of new boots to be fixed, but after I came back picking up my boots and found that the work is not done professionally, I didn't get what I had asked for, the man became very rude and kept blaming me that I should tell them how to fix it exactly and marked on the boots. It's ridiculous! The service is awful and the work is not professional. I will definatelly go to find another shop next time. read more

This place is the BEST. I took in a pair of army green suede boots that I ruined after only having them a week because I accidentally used the wrong cleaner on the toes. It looked like the toes had been dipped into an oil slick and I was so sick about it. Jericho shoe repair turned me away and said there was nothing to be done. I took them to Progressive and they told me they'd see what they could do and wouldn't charge me unless they were able to fix it. Well, I went back a week later and there were my boots, as good as new! I can't tell you how thrilled I was. I think they must have magical elves working for them because I really did a number on those boots. Don't waste your time anywhere else! read more

There's a reason the last review was from a long time ago. At first I thought I found a gem as when I dropped off my shoes they seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. But when I went to pick them up it was a whole different story. I dropped off a pair of louboutins and a brand new pair of Valentino rock studs. The louboutins were ok except they left some marks on the paint that won't come off. They did a horrible job on the Valentino's. it wasn't straight, caused a dent on the side of my shoe. It looks like they took a piece out of the bottom of my shoe. When I asked them to fix it, at first they said it was the sander and paint just comes off some times. Then they offered to do it again but they were just going to cover up the gauge. They then offered $5. I'm thinking $5 for $1200 shoes? Really? They even said it would cost if I had brought my shoe somewhere else which is not Finally after some argument hey gave me $10 and said never to come back. I said fine as I did not want to deal with the lady anymore. I wish I never brought my shows here. I only came because they said it would be done a week compared to all the other places that said it would be 2 weeks. They had some good pictures but I should have known since it was all posted by then. Do not bring your high end shoes here!! They did a bad job and have worse service!! read more

We found this place by pouring over reviews online, after a not-so-great experience at the nearest shoe-repair to our home. They had our shoes ready in three business days (over a long weekend), for a very reasonable price. We were a bit hesitant to leave our shoes with anyone after the shoddy experience at the place near us, but when we picked them up from Progressive, they were immaculate! You can't even tell any work has been done to them, and they even complimented our shoes when we picked them up :) The service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable (we asked if they'd recommend X, to which they said no, it would only cost more and they explained why they would see it as unnecessary). I completely recommend this place, we'll be going there from now on! read more

I brought my birkensocks in here for a complete overall. I have had this done before at other shops. They basically replace the entire base and sole with official birkensock merchandise only keeping the straps. It costs a lot but less than new birks. When I picked them up, they looked brand new. Even the buckles were shined up. However, after I started wearing them, they didn't feel right. Weeks later, a friend was over wearing his birks. Even though they were far too big for me, I slipped them on. They felt great- like birks are supposed to. The only thing I can think is that they used cheap imitation parts and charged me for birks parts. The money I spent was wasted. I will never use this shop again. read more

This place is as good as it gets. I brought my boots somewhere else (Both Feet on Main street) and what they quoted was ridiculous and not necessary. They were going to charge me for a whole new zipper when all I needed was new pull tabs. Progressive got the job done at a much more reasonable price (more than half the cost) and did a great job! read more

Decided to bring my shoes here because of the positive reviews and was definitely not disappointed. The lady that assesses the shoes is friendly, polite and honest. I had brought in 3 pairs of shoes for repair, and I really appreciated that she told me that one of the pairs could be fixed, but the cost of the repair wouldn't be worth it. For the other two pairs (flats and boots), I had the flats (black leather) re-dyed for $15 (they had salt stains from the winter and were scuffed so bad I was about to throw them out). But now they look brand new! As for the boots, I definitely thought they were too far gone to be repaired. But she was able to repair the worn out heels, re-sole the bottom and add inside cushion that was really never there to begin with ($80 - may seem like a lot, but way cheaper than new leather boots!). They also redyed some spots and polished for free. I was so happy when I went to pick them up, because after 5 years they look new again! When I took them home though, they were a little too snug because of the added cushion. I went back the next day and she agreed to refit them no questions asked (also free of charge). I had to come back a couple times to try them on before they glued the new insole down, but the lady was beyond patient and accommodating! Can't say enough good things about this place! Do keep in mind that they are closed Tuesday and Sunday, and between 1-2PM for lunch. Would definitely recommend to a friend! (One already took her shoes there today for repair!) read more
