Quite a nice pub with a lot of natural wood and different levels with plenty of room. There's quiet background music and flat screen TVs on the wall (yesterday showing the tennis, naturally).
There's a large menu with lots of choice, for vegetarians too: pastas, pizza, burgers, salads and some excellent Mexican choices too (my husband said his enchiladas were the best he'd had since he was in Mexico years ago, so that's some compliment!!)
There's no real ale; you can have John Smiths, Fosters, Guinness and possibly one or two others, I don't remember now.
The staff seemed very pleasant and helpful; however the service we received yesterday early evening was extremely slow, even though the pub was half empty and the couple of members of staff we saw seemed to have little to do. It was amazing how long it took the girl to make our coffees I could see her beside the machine for ages. Everything took a long time, from our initial order being taken, the arrival of the meals to the member of staff asking if we'd like anything else. Paying also took quite a while.
It was a reasonable price for the excellent meals we had my husband's meal was huge too plus Guinness and two coffees (£22.50)
The ladies toilet was clean but there was no soap and one of the hand drying machines wasn't working. Neither were most of the taps! I could only get one to work and then the water gushed out so fast I was splashed.
Found along at the end of the main shopping street so easy to find and there's plenty of parking in the street or car parks nearby. It's on a main bus route too.
To sum up: excellent food if you're not in a hurry. read more
