I didn't actually go into the casino this evening. My husband, daughter, and I walked over from our hotel. It was a pretty long walk in a drizzling rain. If we had known it was as far, we'd have called a taxi. I'm not quite sure what happened when we walked in, but I heard the doorman telling my husband that he had consumed too many drink to gain entrance into the casino. My husband had had a few beers, and it was late (about 1:30 a.m.), and he was tired. He wasn't drunk and wasn't behaving in any kind of belligerent fashion. He was surprised, and I immediately said that we needed to go. It was all very awkward and embarrassing. I asked the bouncer if he could at least call me a taxi so we could leave, and he pointed in the direction of a phone attached to the wall. He told me it was a direct line to a taxi company. The line was long, and I was wishing to crawl into a hole in the ground, but he was unmoved.
I realize that people reading this review will probably assume that my husband was very drunk, that there was more to the story than him walking up to the door. I witnessed his walk, and he wasn't staggering. None of us pushed the issue. The party behind us walked in and were very raucous and well dressed. We were wearing blue jeans and jackets - casual, but not sloppy.I looked on their website to see if maybe they had a dress code that we weren't compliant with. It said it was casual.
We are Americans, and my daughter thought that could be a factor. I have no idea. Like I said, he had consumed about three beers over a three hour period, but wasn't what I'd consider drunk. None of us were used to this treatment.
I'm sad. I'm sure it's a very nice casino. Maybe the doorman we had had a problem with a previous customer. I'm 51, and this has never happened to us before. I think it was probably the very well-dressed, very stern appearing doorman. I wonder if they have a protocol they follow for making that determination, but it certainly appeared to be a snap judgment.
I just wanted to share my experience. If you got this far, thanks for reading.
