However, after getting my last batch back I noticed the clothes were leaving my skin itchy and irritated. I'm not sure whether they switched some of the cleaning products they use, whether I am developing some sort of allergy to what they have been using, or - in their defense- whether I am allergic to something else and simply attributing it to my recently returned clothes. I truly loved these cleaners so am definitely going to go back and hope its just some fluke.

The dry cleaners has a nice service, the guy behind the counter knows the stuff inside out and can brim your pockets with change if you've got the dollar. For the 4 pounds mark you can probably wash your entire wardrobe (girls this may not apply) and they've got tons of dryers for sorting through afterwards. Word to the wise check closing time, it'll cost you a pound to recover your washed knickers if you left them their overnight.

In all seriousness though, this laundrette is really very different to all the others, it really offers something special. Not really, I'm just being silly, its normal. You can only ask for two things from a laundrette. One, that is smells like all fluffy and downy like babies. Two, that it delivers no nasty surprises. Atlas Laundrette delivers on both accounts. There's no nasty bill you weren't expecting, as its about four quid per wash. Never do you have to pay for two washes as no matter how many clothes you own (girls) it will all fit in their ridiculously big washing machines. Also, crucially, your clothes will come out clean and dry at the end of your visit. Finally, if you're like me and don't like the idea of sitting in a dry cleaners for hours, they offer a service where you can leave it and they'll wash it for you. Even this is relatively cheap, and it all comes back perfectly folded and ordered, just like you still lived with your mum. Done. Not too silly was it?

I had two pairs of trousers with broken zips. I had been meaning to get them fixed for a few weeks but hadn't had the opportunity. My lady was getting impatient - apparently there is a limited amount of time that she's willing to be seen with me sporting a pair of Decathlon walking trousers (but they're timeless classics!) that are slightly too short for me. Cue a visit to Smart City Tailors by me, less than two hours before their closing time. Could they help? Just one pair of trousers with a new zip would help. Rubbish sir, we'll fix both pairs. And we won't charge you extra however much you protest. Just pop back later before we close. I did, and you know the rest: last night a tailor saved my life from a broken heart. I was struggling to find anyone who would take on the challenge of cleaning my Anny Lin wedding dress due to the size of it and the beading detail. Luckily village dry cleaners were recommend to me. Not only did they do a fantastic job cleaning my dress and making it look new again they put me in touch with a box company who provided special handmade boxes that help to store your dress. I got married in March 2015 and I left it a good 9 months before even thinking about getting my dress cleaned. My dress was absolutely filthy and had so many layers and detail too it, I was worried the stains wouldn't come out. Amir was very friendly and advised me that some of the stains may be difficult to remove. I was confident he knew what he was talking about and he took the time to go through the cleaning process with me. He never once pushed any prices/extra things onto me. Within a week or so I got a call to say my dress was ready to collect at anytime. Amir again took the time to show me my dress, it looked as good as new. All stains had been removed and I was amazed by the great care he'd taken. I would highly recommend Village Dry Cleaners, they took great care in looking after and cleaning my dress, talking me through the process. They were also one of the cheapest companies I'd received quotes from. Definitely worth every penny and very friendly to top it off! Thank you Amir & staff.

Having 2 kids and a personal love of T-shirts means that I couldn't wait for the new machine to be delivered so it was off to the launderette to re-enact some retro levi's adverts/Eastenders episodes and try and get my washing done. It was fairly easy, a fiver for a big washing machine (takes around 45 mins) and an extra quid for the powder. Fairly straightforward, plus you can leave your stuff there whilst going for a wander as the place is manned.

So I started to take it there for a service wash, I can not recommend highly enough, everything is perfect. It is family run and I don't know where I would be without them - buried alive under a mountain of dirty clothes probably! When I finally moved into a house I didn't own a washing machine and besides the only place to fit one is in the worlds creepiest cellar - so I have continued to take our family washing here. I feel the life draining from me as I do it…read more So with at least 5 needed in a week (and more if I'm out somewhere posh at night), I have decided to treat myself to a few shirts washed and ironed each month my Johnson's Dry Cleaners. Yes it's a bit flash, but for me its worth it to be able to slip into a crisply ironed shirt that you've not had to iron. Grab a Priority Club membership and there are a few good offers, like a suit and 5 shirts for £18. The one I always go for is 3 for 2 shirts. This means it's £10 for 6 shirts. And as a treat which removes the tedium of ironing, I think that's a bargain. The staff are all lovely too!

As you enter you probably won't notice that you're being greeted by a lovely chappy as you'll be distracted by a lovely warm fuzzy feeling as the smell of hot steamy cotton fills your head. They offer dry cleaning and ironing services, and are cheaper than almost everywhere else I've used (with no repercussions for the cleanliness of your clothes). There's also no other similar services in the area, so you haven't even got a choice. Strangely, they also advertise a load of music and local events, so if you're about to host a gig or comedy night, and want to attract a clientele with really clean clothes, ask if you can put a poster up here!
