I was quoted 3 different prices throughout the process, with the last being £20 higher than first quoted. When I queried this, nobody seemed to know why, including the manager. In addition, I found the service desk whingeing about how my items were so big they couldn't get them into a bag and how this caused them no end of trouble...my items were king size and from John Lewis. Pretty standard items, but I got the feeling that this place lacks consistency and is looking for the easy buck. Never again.

I got married in March 2015 and I left it a good 9 months before even thinking about getting my dress cleaned. My dress was absolutely filthy and had so many layers and detail too it, I was worried the stains wouldn't come out. Amir was very friendly and advised me that some of the stains may be difficult to remove. I was confident he knew what he was talking about and he took the time to go through the cleaning process with me. He never once pushed any prices/extra things onto me. Within a week or so I got a call to say my dress was ready to collect at anytime. Amir again took the time to show me my dress, it looked as good as new. All stains had been removed and I was amazed by the great care he'd taken. I would highly recommend Village Dry Cleaners, they took great care in looking after and cleaning my dress, talking me through the process. They were also one of the cheapest companies I'd received quotes from. Definitely worth every penny and very friendly to top it off! Thank you Amir & staff.

It does not take a member of Mensa to guess what this is- if it creases too much when you clench your fist around it then I will not buy it. Sometimes I go a bit too far and stand there for 10 minutes transfering said garment from my right hand to my left hand squeezing it like a stress ball. Of course linen is out. So is silk. Tulle and jersey are great and cotton can be a bit hit and miss. Shirts are the anti-Christ and here is where Hijean Laundry Service enters the scene on a white horse to rescue this fair damsel. This is a treasure of a place which does all your ironing for you. Although it also operates a service washing service, this is of no interest to me. It does IRONING!! Shirts will be made pristine for a mere 95p, the dreaded duvet will be made as smooth as silk for only £3.50 for a double and any child's item costs only 60p to be perfectly pressed. This is a vital community service in my eyes and it is run by a lovely mother and daughter team. If you are a busy working dad or mum and you have a family of 4 then all your weekly washing will be taken off your hands and ironed for approximately £30. Hyjean also undertake repairs and alterations and charge a very reasonable price of £10 for a coat and £8 for trousers. This multi-talented team also dry clean clothes and everything is handled with care rather than like a stress ball.

Soap Opera is a dry cleaners in Alkrington, next Alkrington Barbers and Best One newsagents, just off and viewable from the main road, hence on a bus route where one comes basically every few minutes, due to it being the way to Manchester from Middleton bus station (just down the road) The store is actually quite small, and you can not wash things yourself and wait, they do it for you. I would say this is a bad thing as you can't waltz in with your favourite bedding (you can't fit in your washer) and walk back out, the same day with it, you have to wait some time, often a few days for them to do it. I really do not like this. It is quite pricey here due to the service they provide, (doing it themselves) and if I remember it cost £12 for one small (ish [ but still couldn't fit in my washer ] blanket, which is quite pricey but they simply add it on because they are doing it - which is not optional. The only reason I keep coming back is the location and due to the price and the service meaning you can't do it yourself, and it simply not being the nicest of shops due to its' design and the till blocking most of the shop, I can only give 2 stars.
