I had a really disappointing experience at Churro King in Katy. I stopped by after dinner for a quick dessert and ended up waiting nearly 25 minutes for an order I was told would take about 10 minutes. While I was waiting, I watched several customers who ordered after me get their food first. When my buzzer finally went off, I went to the window--but everyone else with buzzers was helped before me. When I asked about my order, the woman at the window spoke to me in Spanish. When I asked her to repeat herself, she rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, "it'll be a minute." At that point, she and another employee started arguing with each other while I continued waiting. I even mentioned that I had a baby waiting in the car, but it didn't seem to make any difference. After the long wait, I was given the wrong order--just a half dozen regular churros with Nutella poured on top, along with some that were burnt. I had originally ordered one stuffed churro and half a dozen regular. The service was extremely poor, and the experience left me feeling disrespected. I truly hope the way I was treated wasn't influenced by my race, but the situation certainly didn't feel right. We're new to the area and were excited to support local businesses, but unfortunately, this experience ensures we won't be coming back. read more

Now let me say - I royally messed up... because I should have tried this SOONER. The churros were freshly made from scratch. You can add a variety of flavors on top or as a filling of the churro. You can even add ice cream with it! The churro itself was warm, crispy, and had the perfect sweetness. The service was quick, simple, and the staff were helpful with the many questions I asked. Because these churros are fine, but not worth going out of your way for. --- ---- --- I had driven past The Churro King countless times, but it seemed like it was always when they weren't open or when we had just come from eating dessert somewhere. Finally, we made a point to come visit after lunch and ordered the mix combination, which comes with a drizzle of three flavors: condensed milk, caramel and nutella. My wife ordered an ice cream with churros and cherry. We liked hers a bit more. Mine just felt like it was so overwhelmed with stuff that you could hardly taste the churro. And it was just okay. When I got home, I microwaved them and they were much better, but it's disappointing that they wouldn't be fresh and warm when you order them. I ordered two dozen for $24. I didn't bother asking for dipping sauce. Certainly not need it in my opinion. Unfortunately I had to drive 28 minutes to get here, but it was well worth it! The churro king food truck is located in a small parking lot next to a tire shop. There's a taco truck located next to the churro King. I also ordered from there as well. I received one of those takeout beeper things to alert me when my food was ready. Minutes later, my order was ready and piping hot. Considering my long drive, I decided to order plain churros with the sugar topping. I was worried the drizzle topping would make them too soggy by the time I got home. Tried this place on a cold day and let me tell you this warmed my soul. These churros were fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft and warm in the inside with perfect amount of filling.
