    Garlic Casarecce
    Courtney O.

I stopped in to The Chubby Cupboard last week to pick up a gift and decided to purchase a couple of things to try at home. I bought the Garlic Casarecce and the Parmesan Alfredo. I loved that the Casarecce had instructions on the container to let you know how long to cook the pasta for. I cooked the pasta and sauce last night and it was very tasty! I especially loved the hint of garlic from the pasta. The Chubby Cupboard is located in Carmichael and ran by Mari who is as lovely as they come! Very personable and you can tell she puts a lot of love into her pasta making and business. The inside is small, intimate and quaint. She offers fresh and dried pasta as well as homemade spices and a few other little treasures! She also offers cooking classes which I will definitely be signing up for soon! Check out The Chubby Cupboard and support small!

This is a fun and unique find! They make handmade creative flavors of pastas and sauces. My favorite is the Meyer lemon pasta, marinara sauce, and almond pesto. They even make arugula pasta! You can go to their shop during business hours and purchase pastas and sauces to take home. I do not find their sauces to be over salted like I find in restaurants. The owner is so nice! She trained in Italy. They also have private pasta making classes that you can sign up for online. The store is homey and cute. My new go to for Italian food!

Chestnut orecchiette pasta in a Gorgonzola cream sauce, topped with shredded Parmesan.

First, the service is amazing. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly owners and they were happy to answer our questions and give us recommendations. We took their advice and bought the Chestnut Orecchiette pasta and Gorgonzola cream sauce. It was fantastic. The best pasta I've had in a long long time. The sauce was a perfect pairing. It was easy to heat up and was about $25 and easily serves 4, so much much cheaper than going out for an Italian meal. We served it with homemade bread and a chopped Cesar salad and it really felt like a special meal. I can't wait to try more of their pastas and sauces!

I've been back twice and I have loved every pasta and sauce I've tried so far. I'm so thrilled to have a great place in Carmichael.

I skipped adding protein (meat has just not been it for me lately), and honestly, it didn't even need it--the flavor carried on its own. My only tiny complaint? It said it came with sun-dried tomatoes... and I think I counted three. But even with that, the dish still hit. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan and said it was bomb. Of course I had to try a bite--and she wasn't lying. The flavors were all there, no notes, no "I wish it had this or that"--just solid. I also had the white sangria and let me tell you... that alone is worth coming back for. So good. We sat out on the patio, got greeted right away, and our waitress was attentive, kind, and just added to the whole experience. She even offered dessert, but we were so full we had to pass--and that's saying something because banana cream pie is one of my favorites. Bonus: she's the one who makes it. I love a good family-style spot like that. We'll definitely be back... and next time I might just order a salad so I can save room for that pie

This place is perfect for date night or just trying to catch up with your friends. . The service here is high quality and they are kind of like fine dining where they do change out your plates and they do take good care of you. . Now on to the food I actually tried their spaghetti and meatballs which was really good and it wasn't too heavy. I also got to try out their lamb shank which was a really tender lamb and also comes with a brown gravy and really great mashed potatoes and some fresh veggies. . I really like their calamari which was really fresh and crispy. I also like their salmon Carpaccio which comes with a bed of lettuce which is like a salmon salad and it's very huge portion. . The house spread that comes with it is okay it wasn't my favorite because of the texture. . I really do like their desserts I highly recommend getting the cheesecake and also their original tiramisu. I got the pistachio tiramisu but the original tiramisu taste it better. I hope this review helps and thanks for reading and have a yelpastic day.

To start this out, our waitress/server Kathy was kind, helpful and hopeful. The restaurant is clean…read moreand cute. The restaurant was just opening on a Thursday at 4. We showed up at 4:17pm to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. We were the only people there for about 25 min or so. We ordered a prosecco & beer - not sure if the beer was in a bottle or on tap, but hubs beer was not fully poured. (I saw someone else order a beer a bit later and it was to the brim.) She forgot the beer so it didn't come out for a bit. No big deal. You get bread and there are big bottles of oil and balsamic on the table which is always a plus. The bread had good flavor and was thick however it was kind of dried out tasting as if it were exposed to air for a bunch of hours before being served. We ordered the clam chowder for an appetizer. It was a thick chowder, but good and extremely hot (caution: I burned the roof of my mouth on the first bite pretty bad, after letting it cool a few minutes.) I also ordered a Caesar salad which was pretty good. Main course we had the lobster ravioli and the braised wild boar. We saw and over heard the two waitresses tell the cooks repeatedly that the sauce on the plate was way too thin and it needed to be thicker.. (the cooks just stared at them) moments later that same plate came to my table. I tried the sauce and it was cold as was the ravioli. I don't generally like to send back food, but this dish is $36 and shouldn't be cold. Our waitress was very apologetic about it and immediately took it back and had them remake it. Meanwhile, my husband was digging into his braised wild boar dish. It came with some cooked veggies, a thick chunky mashed potato tiny scoop and the boar on the bone with gravy. The flavor was pretty good.. we didn't care for how thick and chunky the mashed potatoes were and the boar itself was mostly a huge bone & a ton of fat. It was good but we wouldn't order it again, it's not worth the $38 price for the amount you get to eat. My hubs was practically done eating by the time my lobster raviolis came back out. Our server was again very apologetic for the cold food and said she had them make a whole brand new dish. I tried them, the sauce was warmer but not thick or hot and the raviolis were warmer but not hot. I just thanked her and ate them because I was hungry and it's not worth waiting any longer. The lobster tasted overcooked but the sauce was good. Meh. We decided to get desserts to go so we ordered the pistachio tiramisu and the pistachio cake. We got the check and Kathy told us she took care of my drink and one of the desserts for the mess up on my dinner. We thought that was nice. ......Till we got home and tried the desserts. They were bad.... The cake tasted dried out and old. The tiramisu was disgustingly sour like sour milk and definitely was bad. We threw it all away. I had high hopes because we first went here on a beginning date 4.5 years ago and we had delicious food and they had this delicious limoncello cake with the best light airy frosting, but I'm pretty disappointed because we set this date a few weeks back to come back and celebrate us and it was below mediocre and unfortunately we will not be back. It appears to be a place directed at older people and now they have Groupons? ...The prices are crazy high for what you get. Meh.

Hello to the fresh sturgeon steaks that called my name. My favorite fish is very hard to find and super expensive.
