And just what was needed to warm me up. The latte was also very good. I chatted with the owner a bit. They have been open for about 5 years. 30 years ago when I was growing up jn the area, such a nice little Cafe would have been impossible to find. But Red Deer downtown has really become nice and this place is part of that improvement

The Bistro is a bit easy to miss - it has a modest storefront, and looks a bit dark from the outside. When you walk inside though, the business has a nice cozy feeling: wooden chairs and leather accented tables, as well as big comfy lounge chairs and 2-person booths, highlighted by local artwork on the walls. It's a counter-service affair, and you can order coffee and espresso drinks, milkshakes and floats, plus an assortment of soups, sandwiches, salads, sweets and ice cream. They also do a breakfast first thing I the morning for the early risers and office crowd. The staff is always super friendly, and quick to clean a table or help where they can. Basically everything is made-to-order, so you're going to get fresh food. An average lunch typically runs me about $10, a bit more if I opt for a latte instead of a pop, so the value is great too. This is definitely a place to check out if you'd like a change of pace from the fast food and pricey restaurants otherwise nearby. I understand they also do catering and they're pretty accommodating.

Lots of things for the kids to play on. Patio looks sparse and a little uncomfortable on those tiny chairs. So many cool trinkets to see here. Unique for sure. Staff were very friendly but not great with water refills. Not too busy at a Sunday at 12pm (50% full). Friend loved his Reuben but felt the soup was mostly broth. Another friend got the kettle chips and they literally looked like plain Ripple wavy potato chips. My salad was amazing, vinaigrette wasn't too sour which was perfect. Needed chicken for sure. Salad greens were fresh, but the beets seemed lackluster. Overall a wonderful place for a coffee date, couples date, Sunday brunch with your mom, or just to see the trinkets and have a light lunch.

Three times now I have been there with friends when this woman proceeds to bring out the vacuum- which you can hardly hear yourself talk above - then the mop and bucket with the obnoxious smelling cleaner all while you are trying to visit with friends and finish eating. There is nothing worse in a restaurant and no excuse for it. I don't care if we are the only customers left , you wait until you close before cleaning the floor, it is rude and shows no regard for people that have paid to be there. I hope this changes but I and my friends will not be back to find out.

Tollers Bistro's food is certainly worthy but since each of its previous five ratings are fives, I'll go against the grain with a four, as there is always room for improvement. Located in a small strip mall, it's a high ceiling open space that lends itself well to safe dining. Tables are nicely separated and booths have guards between them. However, there is no sanitizer available at the entrance and I noticed the waitress seating customers without masks, so a little more effort regarding patron's safety would be nice. The food is excellent. Great menu, lots of choice and really interesting. We did some sharing, fish tacos, sweet potato fries, and cauliflower bites. Fish was battered, not normally my favourite, but was light and really tasty. Maybe the best sweet potatoes ever and the cauliflower bites are a meal, lightly breaded and tasty, maybe too big to be shared with just two people, most of ours came home. Staff is friendly and attentive. Waitress didn't know the beer list and suggested I "go look", which is fine but there weren't that many to remember. She did, however, bring us a takeaway box without being asked as she noticed the cauliflower bites still lingering on the plate. I can agree with the previous fives, but there is always room for improvement, at Tollers it's just some attention to detail. Great spot!

My omelette was missing half it's ingredients, and NO cheese. And don't get me started on the can mushrooms! Gross! The waitress took my omelette back to get remade and OMG when she brought it back, it was the same torn open omelette (from me looking for the cheese) with some cold onions inside with a tiny bit of shredded cheese, and then thrown back together. It's wasn't even warmed up or melted. I was like no, that's so not right. Our waitress was very apologetic and looked so embarrassed. So she had them remake my omelette. It was very evident that the exact same inside of my first omelette was put into the new omelette egg. Even the small amount of cheese. It wasn't even a 1/4 of the cheese that was in my hubby's omelette. The waitress saw what the cooks had given me again and she felt SO bad. Offer to have it made again. I said no, I dont trust them back there, and I'll skip it. The brunch buffet is a joke. Butterchicken made with campbell's tomatoe soup. Chicken bites over cooked and hard. Rice dry and hard. Eggs Benny looked decent. But don't count to much on the buffet if you dont eat pork, because almost everything has pork/bacon ect. Also many of the desserts were still frozen. Maybe these days you shouldn't expect much for $26? But man, you should at least be able to get a decent omelet! Walked out still hungry!

As an example, my bro had the grilled chicken sandwich for $12.50, which comes with brie & caramelized onions. His comment was, "Earls could learn a thing or two!" Eggs were perfectly poached the old school way. My aunt loved her prime rib hash with beets, the dish looked beautiful as well. I had the goat cheese omelette with tomato relish, caramelized onions, shrimp and ham. Really good, served with just the right amount of little potato pan-fries and toast. Everyone loved their meals, service was prompt and friendly, and they let us hang out and chat until they had to close up at 3. Recommended for a good quality, reasonably priced brunch. Ambience is lacking, but otherwise it's a winner.
