I called (admittedly last minute) with a rather large order for a work event the next day. It was 4pm and they close at 5pm but the team was more than willing to help! They put together some great looking platters full of an assortment of chocolates and some extra bark on the side. They even helped carry everything to my car. To say that my work was impressed with what we got is an understatement. My residents LOVED the chocolates and are still talking about how delicious everything was 3 days later! Plus, I was able to get some extra chocolates for my wife while I was waiting on the finishing touches to my work order. I liked ordering on-line and making up a custom box of candy. Curbside pickup was great. I had seen posts about Hot Chocolate bombs. That wasn't on the on-line order form, so I called about them. It was also very easy to call in an order and pick it up curbside. My favorites are dark chocolate peanut butter cups and the chocolate mousse filled chocolates. Once I am vaccinated, I plan on going back inside the store also. In the meantime, it is wonderful to have safe options. read more

On 12/22/2019 my wife was told never to come back to this store. Her misdeed, using a gift card. Here in MA gift cards without an expiration date don't expire. While Craig makes a superior product the customer service is severely lacking. Throwing a tantrum and banning a customer for being aware of our state regulations isn't found in any business plan for success. Buyer beware, great product but just don't catch the owner on a bad day lest you too become a member of the 'banned list'. Whatever you do do not purchase a gift card. While some may argue that Cheers is a bar where they always know your name... the chocolate truffle is that place for me. Their chocolate is creamy and not too sweet. I love giving the Brioche arrangements as gifts and am always met with awe of their beauty. I ordered their little makeup and shoe bags for my bridesmaids when asking for the girls to be in our wedding and sent Sam Adams Truffles to our groomsmen. I've collected the thank you bars to give as a step up from a plain old card. Nothing shows gratitude like saying it in chocolate. My favorite has to be the chocolate and peanut butter chicken wings with fluff dipping sauce! So creative and so tastey! I love that the store offers a frequent shopper punch card! My husband and I have been going to the Chocolate Truffle for a few years now. It is by far my favorite chocolate around. I prefer it over other fancy high priced chocolate that you can find in the malls, which in my opinion doesn't even compare to The Chocolate Truffle. My favorite by far is the PB Crisp and the Dark Chocolate fantasy, but you can't go wrong with pretty much anything! Every time I go I make sure to stock up, and it's still never enough. read more

A nice place to go for quality chocolate, privately owned not a huge chain like Lintz and Godiva. The only place that in my opinion rivals Chocolate Truffle is a place in Hampstead, NH. Erin, one of the owners, is one of the sweetest people on the planet. I actually live directly behind the shop and work at a bakery down the street, and see her all over the place. It's great to see a local business owner out and about in the town she's helping make stronger! The salted caramels (not the truffles, the caramels) are one of my favorite foods of all time. I happen to be a very good friend of the owners daughter, Meagan. She is a joyous friend and an even better chocolatier. You can taste the dedicatation, love, and hard work in every bite. I adore her as a friend but I also adore her parent's chocolate. She had always talked about her shop but I never paid a visit until I was craving some pecan turtles (something sweet for after dinner). I decided to take a drive to the shop and was immidelaty greeted by the warm aroma of the shop as well as the warm smile on Meagan's face. I was so glad to see her on a Tuesday night (before 5pm tho). I picked out some beautiful dark chocolate peppermint truffles and my very much craved pecan turtles. I could not wait until I got back to my car to indulge in my purchases. Five minutes later, the chocolates were gone, the box was empty. I just spent the better part of a year working on Newbury Street in Boston, and when I got a chocolate craving (and I am serious about my chocolate, no Hershey's or candy isle chocolate will do here...), I found myself having to wait until I could get out of work and drive to Reading to go to The Chocolate Truffle!! - L.A. Burdick's, Lindt, Teuscher's would not do, even though all within easy access of my office. The Chocolate Truffle is generous with their portions - most of their "truffles" are at least "two-bite" chocolates, not teenie portions like L.A. Burdick's (although I personally try to get 4 or 5 little nibbles out of each truffle... make them last...) Their base chocolates are exquisite; previously I would turn away milk or white chocolates, settling only for dark chocolate - not the case here - dark is still my favorite, but their milks and whites are also rich and scrumptious!! I swear these chocolates must be made in small batches because their flavors and ingredients always come across as crisp and fresh. The staff LOVES chocolate - they aren't just selling it - they are serious "chocolate foodies". They experiment with seasonal flavors (my current faves are the fig truffle ((yes, fig!!!)) and the pomegranate), offer their versions of more traditional flavors (salted caramel, mint julip, turtles, etc.) and wow the mind with an array of specialty bars (things like "pumpkin seed & apricot," to "barbecue chip and bacon") and "dipped" treats - like chocolate dipped Pringles and Twinkies!! If you like peanut butter cups, you will find the biggest, richest, most decadent pb cup ever - and if you are looking for a party pleaser try the "chocolate pizza". I could Yelp for pages about this place... really best you just go in and experience for yourself. they will have my business for life!! I'm sure they ship chocolate too, so don't let not being local stop you! One serious note to help you all find the shop, although on the main street in Reading (Route 28), the shop is hard to spot... They are in the ground floor of a tan colored house with green awnings, just on the edge of downtown. Although their logo is embossed on the awnings, it is a busy section of 28 and I find it hard to read. Sadly I find describing their location as "almost diagonally across the street from McDonald's " easier for people to understand than to get them looking for the store's own signage or street address. Hopefully one day there will be a clearer sign out front, as I suspect lots of folks pass this place regularly - unaware of the gem hidden in that little home. I marked them as rather pricey (twenty-something a pound), but their prices are completely in line and competative with the types of chocolatiers I mentioned above... in fact, I think they are technically a little cheaper than the big chocolate houses I mentioned - but I would go to them even if they cost substantially more. I have ordered and flown artisan chocolates in from France, Switzerland, Germany, NYC and San Francisco and I honestly rank The Chocolate Truffle right up at the tippity top!! read more

Rude Rude rude owner! I can't believe how poorly she treats her customers. While the girl at the counter was pleasant and friendly the times I had been I guess the owner was there today. First off, I was told that I couldn't use my debit card on a purchase under $10. It would be nice if there was a notice about that policy, and yes I know it's okay for them to do that now for credit card purchases, but on visa and mastercards drawn on debit accounts they are supposed to be exempt. Now, I'm sympathetic. I understand small businesses get hurt by a lot of small charges, so I walk all the way to the bank and come back with cash. Still I was surprised so I mentioned to the girl at the counter how I had heard debits (and also prepaid cards) were supposed to be exempt. The owner comes out and starts shrieking at me like a banshee. I wasn't even mad about it. Inconvenienced, definitely, and I am still of the matter that it could be an honest misunderstanding. Instead of using a ounce of customer service to politely say they decided to opt out of accepting any sort of debit drawn card (I still think this might be a grey area with the terms of service with visa and mastercard accounts.), she throws a hissy fit at me. I have rarely been so put off by such an unprofessional customer service. She really needs some Customer Service 101. I don't even subscribe to the idea that the customer is always right, but you should at least talk to them with a cool head and not be a shrieking banshee! Being somewhat polite and I would have come back, but now I will never there again. Plenty of other candy/cupcake places around, hopefully run by a less vile person. read more
