Normally I'm not a fan of icing on something as indulgent as brownie because it's usually far too sweet for me, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well balanced everything was. After trying their brownie, I had to stop by and check them out myself. I opted to get their hot chocolate and brownie crackle cookie, and I enjoyed them a lot. The hot chocolate wasn't the best I've had but is perfect for a chilly day. They have a pretty decent variety of treats, and it is such a cute location that would be perfect for a date or family night. I would say this place should get 3.5 stars, but there's no half star option. It's good enough that we come here, again and again. It's always busy when we do. But it still has enough enough "potential" to be docked stars. Your visit here starts and ends with the Cazookie. A warm, fresh, (shareable) skillet cookie, that comes with a mound of creamy vanilla ice cream on top. It comes in three different flavors of your choosing: Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. I always go with the last option. The nuts in the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut help to balance out all the sweet-- because this dessert is SWEET. Which is why I recommend sharing. No one can handle all that sweet. *Tip: you can choose multiple cookie dough flavors to make up your Cazookie if you're having a hard time deciding. I've tried the cake here. It's good! But I'm not a cake person. So I rarely get it. Like is said, visit starts and ends with the Cazookie. Yeah, it's THAT good. For the downers... *Wait time. The wait time is ridiculous. Every single time, even if it's a slow night. Last night we waited 45 minutes. 45 minutes for a cookie is unacceptable. *Seating. The restaurant is set up in an old home on Orem State Street and set up LIKE and old home. Meaning there are tables, chairs, arm chairs, couches spread out over the entirety of the home. Seating here isn't normal. It feels scarce and chaotic. It's usually someone's group date night here, so things can get noisy right next to you. *Price. Its over priced. It really is. I think I have a love/hate relationship with The Chocolate. I haven't tried too many of their desserts, but what I have tried I have liked well enough. I come here with my wife and we usually get the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cazookie with vanilla ice cream on top. When baked right, it is very good. And yes, I mean when baked right. It's hit and miss with the cookie being baked perfectly, or not enough at all with a super gooey (almost inedible) center. Tonight's Cazookie was baked perfectly. Unfortunately, we also waited 45 minutes tonight to even get our dessert. The place is usually crowded, and I know some people complain about not having a place to sit, but my wife and I have never had that problem. Which is why I'm even more bothered that our food took that long to come out. Overall I like this place. It's unique, and definitely a Provo/Orem style kinda joint. I hovered between three and four stars on this, but ultimately I realized there's only one thing I order from here regularly. Yes, this is "The Chocolate." However, my hands down favorite thing here is the Kitty Katrina-- a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. They use an amazing Madagascar vanilla that keeps me coming back for overpriced $5 slices of amazingness. It's consistently moist and perfectly baked. I've had cupcakes and tried other flavors of sliced cake, but some have been dry or just kind of mediocre in my opinion. The prices are a little high, and I don't say that often as I am super annoyed by Utah County penny pinchers. Relative to portion sizes I do see a discrepancy. The Cazookie is good, too, but a little much for me. Also, please do yourself a favor and don't come here on weekend nights. Every vanilla cake that I try I can't help but compare to Kitty Katrina. No cake ever comes close. Time and time again, I wonder what she is made of that makes me keep crawling back to her doors. It's no bland and ordinary vanilla cake, no no. The Kitty Katrina is a cruel but fair seductress that pulls you into her sweet and creamy soul for just one bite (or what feels like one bite) and then leaves you cold and alone in a twee pastel room with a hundred giggling young chaste adults on their boring G-rated dates. It takes a couple of minutes, but soon enough you are desperate for another taste of this irresistible cake but it's all gone. The Chocolate bakes only enough to last until 10 o clock and even though it's actually 7:30- they're all out. They always do this. So you'll leave, dejected and ashamed yet craving more. Great place to go for some late night dessert. It's a little old home and has a really hip and cool vibe to it. The staff were friendly as we came in and super helpful with their suggestions. We went with their classic Cazookie. GREAT choice. It's the perfect size to split between two people. We got chocolate chip and it was sooo good. It's good. If you like cakes and desserts this is definitely the place to go. I liked that the staff was friendly, I just wasn't too thrilled that not one of the staff members was wearing a mask. It makes the business seem kinda "not care-y" if that makes sense. As a business owner, I think it's important to do whatever it takes to make sure customers feel like they are being taken care of and taken into consideration. This cute little bakery is located between businesses in a remodeled turn of the century home. I had passed it many times--it's in a great location for exposure---and they put a marquee up with their special cakes of the week. I ordered 2 slices of cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary--"the Brooklyn blackout" (chocolate cake) and a lemon cake with lemon curd and lemon creme frosting. Each slice was $6.95 plus tax and a tip, so not inexpensive. For that price I expected something amazing, since I'm kind of a cakeaholic and do my own home baking. The counter service was prompt and friendly at pick up, and the bakery case and looked delicious and inviting. I had a bit of both pieces, and while it wasn't a bad experience, the cake itself was a bit dry, and the frosting to cake ratio was skimpy, meaning not enough frosting to balance the cake. The flavors were all good though and the pieces were the size you'd expect from a bakery. I think most people would be fans and I would go back to try other flavors. Just to me I love the texture and the soft-ness of the cakes and other pastry goods. The Husband (why) it's the most talked about is because it's a soft yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Could either be hated or loved. (like an actual husband) Now the things I absolutely love is the Mint Brownie and The Kitty Katrina. The taste is like a fudge brownie with a hard bottom and crunchy surface with white sugar on the top that just melts. The Kitty Katrina is a white cake with superb white frosting. had that the last time and it was exceptionally delicious. The husband the last time I tried it was kinda flat and not as good as the first time. Now just because I don't like the state of Utah (due to a lot of reasons) there are probably some nice places here and there. I just found Orem to have more places interesting to me then the whole state. The Service was fine. no bitchy attitude or hipster vibes. bathrooms also are clean. the layout of the house was pretty in a sense. could either sit upstairs (if it's open) and mainly the living room area.
