I tried Alisha's Cupcake-German Chocolate for the first time today. The cake was the perfect amount of chocolate. Other's German chocolate cakes I've tired have been too rich in chocolate and dry. We got our company anniversary cake here, a rush job ordered one week ahead after our original vendor (booked two months out) backed out last minute. We were charged a $50 rush fee. We asked for coconut cake, vanilla buttercream, lime curd filling, heart-shaped, with an image on top and some written piping. We picked it up and the frosting looked great, but the top isn't what we asked for. We say something; the person working goes in the back and calls someone. She comes back and says they couldn't get the piping to look good, so they decided to print the whole top as an image instead, and if we had questions to email. We were both shocked they made that call without consulting us. We email, say we weren't happy with the look, and that we'd consider it resolved if they refunded the rush fee, which they did. Their reply said they hadn't realized the piping was a hard requirement, and that on short notice they'd made the call to print it with the logo instead, for ease and to stay close to the inspo image. Worth noting: we'd confirmed the piping twice, once in the initial order, and again the weekend before, to make sure it was doable. So why they decided it wasn't important is anyone's guess. I'm of the opinion that using a rush as an excuse only works if you don't charge for the rush. If they can't fulfill a rush order as specified, they shouldn't take it, or they should at least call, at which point I'd have given them several options (including just doing a plain cake) before printing the entire top. It looked extremely cheap. Then came time to actually eat it: embarrassingly, no one at the party finished their slice. Off texture, no coconut flavor, and the lime curd was overwhelming. I do want to highlight that the exterior frosting was really good, but the inside just wasn't. Combined with the unprofessional, cheap-looking top, this was an extremely embarrassing experience for me as the person who coordinated and presented it to the company. They did refund us that $50, so I didn't want to email again, even though we were unhappy with the entire experience. I couldn't in good conscience recommend a custom cake from Alisha's for a future event, though it seems we are an outlier and I know they do better work than this. read more

Gourmet cupcakes! Previous winner of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. Located right there in the historic "Main Street" of Pleasant Grove. Small place but nicely decorated inside--my wife loves how "girly" the inside looks since we only have sons. There are tables where you can sit and enjoy your hot cocoa and cupcakes. We really like these cupcakes, some are even sold in a Gluten Free version. My son requested them for his birthday again this year. We always get their signature flavor: Better Than What, which won them the Cupcake War title. This one is my wife's favorite During this visit we got 5 total-- along with their signature flavor, we also got Milky Way, Churro, Cookie Dough, and Coconut Tres Leches. We couldn't pick a favorite. Just had the Better Than and the S'moreo and they were outstanding. We went in at 9pm so I doubt the cupcakes were super fresh, but they were super moist and delicious still. Side note - the cupcake bites, not great. Pretty flavorless and just not worth it. If they did cake balls instead and used less coating chocolate it could be better. Came here yesterday and I was amazed by the quality of the cupcakes. I ended up grabbing three: the carrot cake cheesecake, vanilla almond raspberry, and the churro Nutella. The carrot cake and raspberry cupcakes were executed perfectly and had a nice balance of textures and flavors, perfect 10/10 cupcakes. Alisha might make some delicious cupcakes, and someday I look forward to checking them out. But today, I tried one of her brownies....a "brookie" to be exact (a hybrid of a brownie and a cookie). It was beautiful to look at and made my mouth water before I even took a bite. The cookie half was delightfully gooey and sweet-the brownie portion was the perfect "ying" to the cookie "yang". Stumbled across this gem last weekend. We decided to go in and to our surprise we found out that this team had competed in Cupcake Wars and had won. So once our star crossed excitement was over we went on to picking cupcakes. We opted to choose 3 red velvet cupcakes, a coconut tres leches cupcake, strawberry cream, and a chocolate mud cupcake. The red velvet cupcake was a bit more crumbly then we all preferred. However, all three of us enjoyed the coconut tres leches, the chocolate cupcake, and the strawberry cream. I stopped by Pro digital in Pleasant Grove to pick up an order, while I was there I noticed a line next door going into Cravings. I don't recall ever seeing the shop before this visit and decided to pop in. Thank the divine I did! The cupcakes looked adorable and were flying off the shelves like hot cakes. We devoured the Better than what, Leche, Banana cheesecake Nutella and Peanut butter. Every available option looked unique and flavorful. I also appreciated that the cupcakes were moist. There are far too many lack luster cupcakes in the world but not here. Whoever comes up with these flavor combos is a wizard or Unicorn, definitely something magical. I'll never understand how it took me so long to find them. Also, the gals behind the counter were incredibly sweet and helpful. I can't wait to make them my go-to cake shop for future birthdays. The purpose of my trip this time around, was to buy a sorting hat cupcake (as of this review, they are only available on July 30-31) in honor of Harry Potter's birthday. Be warned, they sell out FAST (understandably). The sorting hat cupcake is a chocolate cupcake with colored sprinkles in the middle and a fondant sorting hat on top. When you bite into the cupcake, you'll know which house you are sorted into based on the color of sprinkles. It's more of an experience, rather than just eating a cupcake. And the cupcake in of itself is good. The unknown of which color is inside the cupcake is so fun. I thought this was genius marketing. Get all the Harry Potter fans to come buy a cupcake (or more) for Harry's birthday and be "sorted." This has become a tradition within my family to buy a few sorting hat cupcakes each year. But alas went 1 day and the next day to get a cupcake for people I work with and they had never charged me before for a container, but all of the sudden I was told containers cost extra.
