Unbelievably good sushi, it's on par (and maybe overtaken) my usual favorite sushi spot, Dozo. The prices are higher than Dozo but the service was definitely levelled up. Lots of options outside of sushi, such as beef teriyaki, udon and soba noodle dishes, grilled fish, kimchi fried rice and salad. They also have a tasting menu that includes sake, which has to be ordered in twos, and cost £140 I had a 6-piece omakase nigiri selection, which was excellent (probably the best sushi I've had in London) and included key fish like salmon, tuna, butterfish, and ebi (£21). Gyozas (£10, also good) and a kitsune soba noodle dish (£14, only ok). I tried someone else's mixed tempura (£16) and it was so light and fresh for a fried dish I couldn't believe it. In our group of four, the plates came out pretty helter skelter. One in our group had nearly all his plates (5) come out before anyone else's, which was awkward. The other plates trickled out in very random way - for example, my main, the soba noodles, came out before my gyozas; another in our group's main (beef teriyaki £35, not including rice) didn't come out until after we were all nearly finished with our meals. Large selection of sake, but small selection of cocktails and wine (by the glass, only 2 options per red or white, £10-12). They had ~4 house cocktails only, and they would not make anything off the menu The decor was clean and modern, and feels intimate as it's on the smaller side. Fantastic Japanese meal. I went Senegal years ago and was underwhelmed, decided to give them another chance and it was great. I had two starters. First was salmon with caviar and truffle, it was perfect, all three ingredients came together wonderfully. The other was a chickpea and seaweed salad with raw tuna, so much better than I am describing it. Multiple flavors and textures. For a main, I had the sashimi omakase, again great. All of the fish was very fresh and no chewy or stringy bits, often the downfall of tuna in particular. I also enjoyed a very nice sake from a large sake list. It was so good I almost returned the next day but didn't want to risk the great memory. read more

Very neat and woody decoration signs freshness of ingredients. Dishes are prepared well and served well. Not too expensive and liked Izakaya menu so you can choose small plates, but sushi set or Omakase are little high. Such a great sushi and sashimi place right in the heart of Mayfair. We came in and had a delightful pre theatre meal. The ambiance reminded us so much of many happy days in Osaka. The fish was excellent and the presentation spot-on. Loved it and will return often! read more

This was a neat spot close to the hotel we were staying at in London with a good selection of sushi/sashimi /nigiri, salad, and appetizers. I thought it was lacking in entree options, and though the food was good, i was frustrated that after spending about 35 pounds ($45) on each person not including drinks, I was still hungry. The food was good but not memorable. The highlights were that the staff was lovely and the atmosphere really nice! In general I would say it was overpriced for what you got and I'm sure there's a better place in the area. read more

One of the best Japanese restaurant I've been in London. We ordered several plates to share. The atmosphere itself is fancy, quiet and really nice. The service was good, fast and the waiters are really taking attention to all your needs and if you're missing water. As a drink I had an umeshuu with soda which really reminded me the ones I had in Japan. The food was really tasty and what I was expecting. The sashimi were delicious really fine and tasty. Then we ate gyozas, Tsukune and a awesome and perfect beef tataki. To end the diner, I ordered a salmon onigiri with a camomile. I recommended this restaurant if you wanna enjoy great Japanese food and you're ready to put a price of it, it worth it. read more

Let me start by saying this is a weak four star and if the portions were a little bit better it would've been a strong four-star. This place has great ambience and they took me without reservations to sit at the bar which was greatly appreciated. Let's start with the pros. The service was quick, great ambience, presentation was excellent and the quality the sushi which is most important was top notch. Now let's go with the negatives. If you don't pay attention when you're ordering the nigiri it's only one piece per order which I've never seen before even in the highest quality restaurants. The portions of fish were extremely small not just for the price, just small. I didn't care for the sake selection for the smaller bottles and if it's just one person you're limited to what you can order. The last thing I will moan about is that it took almost 20 minutes to get my check after I indicated I was finished. read more

Terrible Experience with some manager called SIMONA. I regularly order from Chisou Mayfair. Unfortunately they removed the salmon and tuna tartar from the deliveroo few months ago. So I always have to call them and order something of the same price that they agree to replace by the salmon tartar. Today a clueless person called Simona refused to proceed that way. her excuse was that a lot of people got food intoxication from the delivery of Salmon tartar. So I asked her to explain why specifically the salmon tartar cannot be delivered anymore. she Firstly said that they made it in advance. as I was a bit shocked she changed her version saying that deliveroo driver are too slow and because of the time they take the salmon tartar was toxic and they had big lawsuit from many clients. when I ask why they deliver all the sashimi and not the tartar in that case? she didn't have any answer, so she finally accept me for me to pick it up but still not deliveroo. even though I said I could pay the extra fee Premium delivery on deliveroo to get it faster she refused. obviously she has no knowledge of japanese food, she is absolutely unprofessional and she ruins the reputation of the restaurant saying they had lot of food intoxication with the salmon tartar delivery. it is a shame as I had to order the salmon tartar which is on the menu of the deliveroo chisou in Knighstbridge when I live near chisou mayfair. how bad it is for chisou mayfair to have manager who lie and obviously who doesn't give a damn of the restaurant reputation and the service she should provide! read more

Tonight, my heart was broken by Chisou.. what was once a quality place with a great experience.. I was appalled by the incredibly poor / rude service that we received... far outshining the food... which is good but not something memorable / exceptional and certainly not worth the trip to receive such abysmal service. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review... so to the sushi chefs - thank you for your food. But the service needs some work !! We arrived as a table of four. My friend only asked for A BOWL of PLAIN RICE during the meal... which never came. we asked about the rice to three diff waitresses... one never returned, one said she'd check on it, and the last one showed us our meal receipt (by which time we were not ready to pay yet!) and pointed out that there was no rice on our meal.. because it was asked / added during the meal ! Fine - not getting rice ok... whatever, we let it go.. not enough to make me write a review yet. But then! As we are paying for our bill, the hostess comes over and says "hey guys not trying to push you out but need your table... so why don't you guys make your way out to the outside tables and we will give you one dessert on the house." ITS 8 degrees Celsius / 50s degree Fahrenheit... no one would go out just for a free pity dessert!!! Chisou is in a posh area of town and the restaurant itself is decorated nicely, but the lighting is a bit too dim for my liking. It was a hassle trying to read the menu by candlelight! However, the food were top notch. We had an excellent sushi to start and the flavour combination is just right to make you wish you could order more (at the expense of not finishing your hot main course!). I ordered the grilled black cod and this was cooked perfectly, with a soft delicate body and just melts in your mouth. The service was good although we kept having several different waiters ask us the same question that someone else has asked already, which, whilst they have the best intentions in mind, could be coordinated better. We played a little prank on waitress when getting the bill. She had her back turned to us at the till and my friend had the best impression of bird chirping ever and we watched for her reaction. We could tell she was smiling on the reflective wall in front of her but she artfully ignored us :D and continued as if nothing strange is happening at the table behind her. Good place to go to if you do not want to share the restaurant with a lot of other guests as the area at the side room we were in (right outside the kitchen) were quite secluded and made for good catching up with friends from overseas! However, if you need to read business documents over dinner, then you will need to go to a more well-lit place! read more

Nothing says success like a poorly produced copy. Go Chisou is the sad younger sibling of popular Japanese restaurant Chisou. Opened up directly next door, it's sushi fast food style. They cater to mostly office workers, selling pre-packaged too-cold sushi from a fridge cabinet and you can get the fresh stuff made to order. They have a couple of seats at the sushi bar and a larger sitting section in the back and downstairs, which is windowless and depressing. I used to pop in, grab a couple of pre-made maki rolls and sit at the bar with my book. But as with any 'good' thing, they now only let you sit if you order from the menu. Can't imagine why I'd bother, the sushi chef isn't even Japanese and the staff don't exactly welcome you with open arms. As with a lot of west end places, they seem to 'manage' takeout patrons - how long you can stand looking at the selection, how you pay and how you are hustled out of there. The fact that none of the staff speak much English, or pretend not to anyway, makes the process even less appealing - sort of like rudeness by default. Go Chisou is a step up from Boots and Pret sushi, it's fine if you need something to hit a sushi craving but only if you're not choosy. read more

Got the Blue Fin Tuna (all three fatty variations), Yellow Fin tuna, Seared Salmon, Seared Fatty Tuna, and the Tofu Soba. It was all very decent and everyone was really friendly. The only restaurant in London where they answer the phone in Japanese! Chisou has a take-away oriented half (with some tables) and an eat in side at two adjacent shops round the corner from Oxford Circus. We turned up on a beautifully sunny day and although there are three tables outside the takeaway we'd booked to eat in. Thankfully the manager set up an extra outside table (balanced a little precariously) and saved my good mood! I was very pleased. We had their chef's special menu with a salad, miso soup, mixed tempura, either of sushi or sashimi (with rice) and an orange for dessert. It was all very good and the service really was excellent, although they'd occasionally forget we were outside. All in all an excellent, central location for good Japanese and the opportunity to watch the ladies of Mayfair go by. read more

Went here for dinner this week. Food is decently good and service is very friendly at this establishment. They have a nice imported beer from Niigata prefecture in Japan and the sushi was fresh, other dishes were tasty although portions were a bit on the small side, also the prices are not low. I would say that this is not a great spot for a dinner due to the food-to-price ratio, but would be a good place to visit as an izakaya (which, fair enough, is in the name of the restaurant), which is to say, go there have some drinks and a bit of light food rather than a full meal. Well.. yeah OK, the classical place you say A-OK. I mean, I enjoyed my time here, but with the London current offering of restaurants I'm pretty sure I'll never get back here. Me and my lady came here on a saturday night with a single good objective, sushi! And they delivered, sushi was pretty good (I mean 4-stars good, not "I want to crawl and cry like a baby" good), rice at room temperature (a little bit hotter, as it should be), a low amount of wasabi and a nice, thick raw of slice fish, definitely well done and organized. Even the choice of fishes for the mixed sushi (9 pieces + a roll) was good and covering several degrees of consistencies and flavors, and the inside-out prawn tempura roll was definitely the top hit. We also had a mixed tempura which unfortunately was undertone, the batter was too oily and fat and the ending was not crispy, a classical for bad tempura. Service was unfortunately very poor and the reason (with the tempura) this is a 3 stars review rather than a 4 stars, badly organized, we had to repeat the same orders over and over (water for example), we always had to speak with different waiters and they of course remembered different things, I mean it's like there was no pre assignment of the tables and everybody was just happily do everything they wanted! A little bit of organization would do great to the restaurant, as the sushi chefs surely know how to prepare delicious dishes! read more

This place is super cute and is literally bang downstairs to my office, so great location! I personally thought the food was really good, but the combo food-price was off-putting. I think it commands prices of a much more luxurious place without the atmosphere - and it didn't have my beloved sea urchin on the day of, so... bummer! Their donburis are top notch but the prices are oh dear. Why do you have to pay £12 for a salmon donburi when you cant get through more then a half of the rice in a bowl?? It's a shame they can't cut the price by serving less rice and then all would be perfect(it does include miso soup, but still...) The place is smallish size, there are tables outside once the weather improves and generally quite a relaxed hide out when you find yourself on Regent street with an empty stomach. I've been coming here and the Beauchamp Place branch for years and have seen it become more popular and busier. The udon broth used to be better but is still at a very acceptable standard and the udon noodles themselves are as good as it gets. The sushi selection is great, I always get the spicy tuna roll with green chillis and the spider roll with softshell crab. The chawan mushi is also a favourite (though only available for dinner I believe). The black cod is also delicious if on the small side. This restaurant is expensive and for sure there are cheaper places to get good Japanese food, however, I really enjoy the service and atmosphere. The staff are always happy to accommodate dishes coming in whatever order you like, they are good at topping up my green tea and I haven't had a dud experience once. I come here because I know what I'm getting - Chisou offer a consistent service. read more

I hate to be the downer about this place but three of us had lunch there yesterday. We shared: The chef's 9 piece sushi platter Two rolls - Tekamaki and Kapamaki Shrimp and Veggie Tempura It all tasted fine - not great as the white fish weren't beautiful - but two of the three of us got very sick last night. The restaurant is sweet and small and the service is efficient and as a San Franciscan, it compared well enough to our West Coast sushi. But there is too much coincidence that we shared this food and 2 of 3 got sick. read more

It's such a shame as I always like the Knightsbridge branch and always had the top food. That why I chose chisou for my fren from Asia. However tonight the Mayfair branch had disappoint me with the services. Not only we feel like being rushed for the bill with no fault of ours that the dessert was served late but I had to take the bills to the countertop for payment. OK, I feel the need to chime in here. I'm fond of Go Chisou- I always sit at the bar and order from the menu. I find the food to be very good and the prices to be almost ridiculously fair. For around 20 quid for a meal plus a beer, you will be stuffed and happy. Very good resource for my neighbourhood. And, to compare Go Chisou to Pret, as the previous reviewer did, when Pret use English Mayonnaise in their rolls, is absurd. Go Chisou is in the epicenter of London's tourist bustle, yet makes a strong effort to be a locals place and much better than it needs to be. I commend them. read more

Went twice while in town for business recently. First time I had a lovely appetizer - spinach cubes that were cold and nicely seasoned with a light soy based sauce. Next I ordered a noodle soup which was gorgeous looking but unfortunately flavorless, very disappointing. Next time I went I ordered a cold tofu salad that, in the description on the menu, should have had a dressing of some sort but arrived bare and flavorless. I was sitting at the sushi bar & the sushi chef prompted me to splash some soy sauce on it. Of course that made it better. Next I ordered the tuna sashimi and a side of rice. The sashimi was delicious. Moral of the story - stick with the raw fish. read more

Grabbed lunch from the takeaway section Go Chisou here yesterday. Very overpriced compared to other takeaway sushi, but that in part has to be blamed on the Mayfair location. Prawn and spinach salad was delicious with a fabulous yuzu dressing. Avocado sushi was your average avocado sushi extra points for ripe avocado. £10 including a diet coke is double the price of Itsu around the corner, but for freshness, quality and variety it's definitely the winner. read more

I come from Manila and when I got to London, I was very surprised at the lack of authentically good Japanese food - given that London is very cosmopolitan. But Chisou was good enough for me actually - the tempura is still not very fluffy but fluffy enough, compared to that of other Japanese restaurants. I ordered the tempura udon once and tempura maki the other time and both were very enjoyable. When this Japanese restaurant opened several years ago, it was immediately full to the brim of Japanese businessmen and other lovers of the food. Its popularity over the years has not decreased and it is still hard to get a table on some nights. Booking is therefore highly advisable. All the staff are courteous, friendly and will help to explain certain dishes to those that are unfamiliar with ingredients. The chefs are all Japanese and really know what they're doing when it comes to sushi. Definitely recommended for an authentic and delicious Japanese meal. read more

It's a good restaurant, yet, not good enough for me to give it 4 stars or above. The food was fine, but considering the cost, it was not really worth it. For example, I ordered the selection of tempura as well as the tempura roll, and both of those were not as crispy as they should be. For starters, we ordered soft shell crab and something-croquette, they were ok, but not amazingly delicious or anything, I would recommend you try Eel (Unagi) if you are here, since that was the dish that I found most satisfying of the night.
