    Miso black cod

Everything there was amazing! So fresh and delicious. The drinks were fantastic! It's located close to soho

Situated on the 1st floor at Kingly Court, this fusion sushi place is pretty impressive. I didn't have a reservation on Thursday night, but was able to get seating (I suggest you reserve spots here since there seating is very limited inside). Miso Kimchi Soup: caught me off guard with the strong taste, this miso Soup is a great fusion blend. There is edamame on the bottom Jalepeno Roll & Dragon Roll: both were very good but I didn't like the cucumber and spring onions inside since they overpowered the rest of the "softer" ingredients. Next time I will ask to omit those. Other than that pretty delicious. Tea- was good Service: ignored the entire time until I asked for the bill. I thought that was unacceptable since it was very empty inside so only a few tables to take care of. That's where the one star was cut.

Unagi nigiri, sweet, savoury and delicious!

A solid little Japanese restaurant for sushi and robata; and reasonably priced. We got an order of the Unagi nigiri, Salmon sashimi, Spider roll with kimchi mayo topped with avocado and tempura crumbs, and Tiger king prawns with garlic paprika butter with a squeeze of lemon. The food was delicious, the portions generous and the sushi fresh. We washed down all the tasty seafood with a dry and crisp bottle of Dewasakura 'Oka' Sake Junmai-Ginjo. I'm looking forward to our next meal here and will be looking to try the black miso cod and Mongolian lamb rack .

Delicious, reasonably priced sushi in Central London! It sounds like an oxymoron, right? We'll think again, because Oka does it all! We ordered the fried chicken, tataki asparagus roll, dragon roll, and jalapeño roll. Everything was tasty, but my favorites were the fried chicken (so tender and crispy) and the jalapeño roll. The service was good as well! My only complaint is that they only give you the table for 1.5 hrs. I personally like to take my time so I would've preferred the typical 2 hr time slot. The restaurant is small so I would recommend booking in advance especially if you're planning on coming here on a weekend night.

Two orders of the Truffled Salmon roll and one order of the Rainbow roll

Oka is easily one of my favourite Japanese restaurants (if not my favourite) in central London. The sushi is fresh and beautifully presented; the vibe is lively, but not too loud for conversation; and the restaurant itself is a clean and cosy space overlooking a vibrant courtyard off Carnaby Street. Our space at the bar was equipped with hand gel and a protective screen, and the staff were very accommodating throughout our visit. Watching the chefs using a blow torch in preparing some dishes was another plus. I highly recommend the Truffled Salmon roll, the Rainbow roll, and the Cookie Dough for dessert. In my book, with its exceptional service and spectacular fare, Oka remains the king of Kingly Court.

Came here as a last resort because elsewhere in Kingly court was full. We had some sushi, lamb and salad. I wouldn't say the food is 'traditional', more like fusion?? Unfortunately the lamb was not very good, the marinade and kimchi totally killed the nice piece of meat. Interesting concept but far too overpowering. They had nice tea though, and service was good.

Great sushi place, fairly priced, great service - all smiles! If you're looking for something different, it isn't but they make your run of the mill sushi for good cost; delicious and fresh. Their signature dessert is cookie dough with ice cream

    Delicious and super fresh

It's more of a fusion than authentic Japanese food. But the service was good and they use fresh wasabi which is a plus.

The place was quite busy, and interestingly, the same person taking orders was also cooking. It's a very small setup--definitely not meant for dining in. The vibe is more like "grab your food and head out." We ordered chicken egg fried rice and chicken chow mein. Watching the food being cooked right in front of us was fascinating--quick, high heat, and full of action. Once we got our order, we sat outside to eat. The first thing I noticed was that the food was quite oily. More disappointing, though, was that I couldn't find any chicken in my fried rice--even though I had paid extra for it. I went back, showed them, and asked if chicken had been added. They bluntly said "yes" and didn't bother to check further, which was frustrating That said, the food itself tasted good overall. It's just that the oiliness and the lack of proper service took away from the experience. I wouldn't say I won't visit again--it feels more like an off day--but I was definitely expecting better service.

I ordered the Chicken Katsu over brown rice with Szechuan sauce. It wasn't too spicy and had a good portion of protein. It took about 10 minutes to wait for food. Be cautious if the line gets long- you may be waiting 30 minutes in total, given there aren't many grills and the kitchen can get backed up.

Sure, it might taste like PHO, but it is definitely not authentic as they say it is. The food is lacking in taste and quality. It taste so cheap. It might cost five dollars from a street vendor. Instead of cost over $30. SAKUSAKU duck noodle dish cost it over 21 pounds which is about 25 or $27 USD and I barely had any sauce and it was extremely small portion. Refill never got attention, this place sucks do not eat here. I would rather go to the McDonald's across the street.

I was lucky enough to, along with a colleague, be taken here on several occasions for a quick lunch by a client (indicative of how welcoming the Japanese are!) By 'genuine' I mean no dumbed-down menus, no super-slick interiors to detract from potentially average food, and no gimmicks of any kind. The place is staffed and run by Japanese nationals as any self-respecting Japanese restaurant should be - and perhaps more importantly, frequented by them regularly, too. Service is smiling and attentive and no more that it needs to be. The food is inexpensive (~£6-8 for a bento, £7-11 for ramen, udon or donburi) and so tasty. On my most recent trip I had beef ramen with tan tan (sesame paste) soup base, and my brother had salmon teriyaki on brown rice. Both dishes had generous proportions of meat/fish, and the donburi came with a side salad and pickles. The unagi (eel) is also lovely, and the place does an extensive line in pick-your-soup base noodle bowl dishes where you have the option of shoyu, miso, and sesame as mentioned above, among others. I can't speak for the takeaway bento, but they looked pretty solid and of a decent quality. Drinks come in the familiar (Coke etc) and the more, um, 'traditional' - aloe vera juice, Pocari, cold bottled green and black teas and others. This place is rather hidden away on the fringes of the City, behind Aldgate station on the Petticoat Lane side. In many ways it's a great location as it's very much a local haunt, and in others a little frustrating as even if you're working in the City it can be a fair walk to get there and back! My advice would also be to get there early (between midday and half-past) to ensure a seat, as well as before some of the more popular items on the menu disappear. In brief summary, I couldn't really recommend this place enough if you're in the area. You'll get multi-kudos from any friends Nippon friends (or appreciators of their incredible cuisine) and have a lunch to beat the hell out of an uninspired sandwich / soft-drink combo whilst spending a similarly scant amount of your hard-earned cash. As your fellow diners would say: "itedakimas!"
