Had a somewhat disappointing lunch here. We both ordered the miso salmon salad. The miso salmon was very good and pretty generous (4 oz or so). Sadly, the lettuce was very tired, the avocado slightly underripe, and the salad overdressed. The staff were fairly attentive, but neither warm nor very forthcoming. It was early and pretty quiet, so maybe the staff does better when busy? The space is nice, but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't return. read more

Situated on the 1st floor at Kingly Court, this fusion sushi place is pretty impressive. I didn't have a reservation on Thursday night, but was able to get seating (I suggest you reserve spots here since there seating is very limited inside). Miso Kimchi Soup: caught me off guard with the strong taste, this miso Soup is a great fusion blend. There is edamame on the bottom Jalepeno Roll & Dragon Roll: both were very good but I didn't like the cucumber and spring onions inside since they overpowered the rest of the "softer" ingredients. Next time I will ask to omit those. Other than that pretty delicious. Tea- was good Service: ignored the entire time until I asked for the bill. I thought that was unacceptable since it was very empty inside so only a few tables to take care of. That's where the one star was cut. read more

A solid little Japanese restaurant for sushi and robata; and reasonably priced. We got an order of the Unagi nigiri, Salmon sashimi, Spider roll with kimchi mayo topped with avocado and tempura crumbs, and Tiger king prawns with garlic paprika butter with a squeeze of lemon. The food was delicious, the portions generous and the sushi fresh. We washed down all the tasty seafood with a dry and crisp bottle of Dewasakura 'Oka' Sake Junmai-Ginjo. I'm looking forward to our next meal here and will be looking to try the black miso cod and Mongolian lamb rack . read more

Delicious, reasonably priced sushi in Central London! It sounds like an oxymoron, right? We'll think again, because Oka does it all! We ordered the fried chicken, tataki asparagus roll, dragon roll, and jalapeño roll. Everything was tasty, but my favorites were the fried chicken (so tender and crispy) and the jalapeño roll. The service was good as well! My only complaint is that they only give you the table for 1.5 hrs. I personally like to take my time so I would've preferred the typical 2 hr time slot. The restaurant is small so I would recommend booking in advance especially if you're planning on coming here on a weekend night. read more

A solid four to 4.5 stars. Went for lunch with a few friends, and although I was sick and my appetite was low, I enjoyed my meal. I had dragon rolls and tuna hosomaki, which were both fresh and tasty. My friends had a number of small bites and robuta, which they all enjoyed. Desserts were fab too -- very refreshing and not too sweet. Service was decent, although I sometimes felt the staff were a bit pushy. Somewhat understandable given it was a peak lunch time, but would be nice if they could take the time to get to know the customers. Ambience was cosy but hip and in tune with the broader Kingly Court. Really good for a casual and social lunch. read more

Oka is easily one of my favourite Japanese restaurants (if not my favourite) in central London. The sushi is fresh and beautifully presented; the vibe is lively, but not too loud for conversation; and the restaurant itself is a clean and cosy space overlooking a vibrant courtyard off Carnaby Street. Our space at the bar was equipped with hand gel and a protective screen, and the staff were very accommodating throughout our visit. Watching the chefs using a blow torch in preparing some dishes was another plus. I highly recommend the Truffled Salmon roll, the Rainbow roll, and the Cookie Dough for dessert. In my book, with its exceptional service and spectacular fare, Oka remains the king of Kingly Court. read more

Order anything with salmon in it, particularly the salmon robata. It's so good and not at all dry. It's a salmon mecca. It's not cheap, but fairly priced for the quality of the food. Fairly busy restaurant with a nice ambiance. In terms of service, everything was amazing. Super nice staff and very accommodating given the reservation was made an hour or so before. Read some of the reviews and saw some pictures of the sushi, and was very excited. Unfortunately the nigiri did not hold up. The proportions of the rice to fish on the night was pretty solid however nothing special stood out with any of the major fish: tuna, salmon, and eel. The fish wasn't that expensive so the quality of the fish fairly matches the price. Came here as a last resort because elsewhere in Kingly court was full. We had some sushi, lamb and salad. I wouldn't say the food is 'traditional', more like fusion?? Unfortunately the lamb was not very good, the marinade and kimchi totally killed the nice piece of meat. Interesting concept but far too overpowering. A tuna and shrimp fest. Tuna tataki and tuna rolls are delicious! So was the shrimp tempura, lightly battered, not oily, served with a complementing chili sauce. The dessert, a warm fresh dough topped with chocolate, was a nice ending to the evening. Simple, inviting decor, and a warm, friendly service! read more
