This is my 'Chippy' of choice in my local area. Friendly staff & never had a bad meal. Average prices and close to the train station.

Right outside of the Shenfield Station! Super convenient. I…read moregot the Fish and Chips and the Cod Roe. Cod Roe - This portion is pretty big for one person. I absolutely love cod so I ate all of it as an appetizer. Fish and Chips - The fish was cooked to order. I'm not sure about the chips but they were both hot when it came out to me so I was happy about that. It took about 10-15 minutes to get the order on the table for me so I know the food was cooked when I ordered it, not before. I appreciated this. The tables are a little bit dirty until one of the employees came out to clean them. I wanted to try their wings but they didn't have any at the time. So be careful about their menu because they may not have certain items on there due to availability. I'd say this is a nice spot if you're looking for a quick bite to eat!

On Hutton Road (effectively Shenfield's high street), nearly opposite the railway station, we spotted Fish to Go, a takeaway fish and chip shop that also has a sit-down restaurant area. There didn't seem to be anything else nearby that we fancied, so we decided to give it a try. Fish and chips is a standard fast food meal but the quality can vary a lot. In this case, Fish to Go seems to offer very good quality. We ordered two meals (one haddock and chips, and one cod and chips) and both were freshly cooked to order. Portions were on the generous side and both the fish and the chips tasted very good. The service was very polite and friendly, too.

They give you a HUGE piece of fish that is quite meaty, even for the small portion. The batter they use is very tasty. There is no tables to sit at, so I usually do take out. I've been here like 5-6 times whilst living in Romford. The chips are cut to large for my taste but the fish makes up for it.

Which to be fair didn't make sense as anyway as park lane chippy is really nice Last night I went to get my 2 year old boy sausage and chips before taking him trick or treating to find that when I got home my son bit into a red raw sausage still frozen in the middle. When I called to explain what happened the boss wouldn't come to the phone, which then meant I had to walk all the way back to the chip shop with the raw sausage still on the plate, out of pure respect when I got there I waited for customers to leave the shop which I thought was good of me .... when they see that the sausage was raw, all they could come up with, was replace the food. I'm sure anyone would agre, that isn't compensating me for the inconvenience and the fact my son could and still get ill and the walk I had to do, what they should have done is apologied for the fact they give my son a raw sausage and refunded my money and give me food on the house for the sheer inconvenience Instead they would rather lose a customer and be reporting to Havering food hygiene . Not getting away with this
