The food and service was excellent! Our server, Trey, had great recommendations and was so helpful. My only complaint was the hostess stand. I came with a larger party and had called a week in advance to see the best route for getting a table since they don't do reservations. Following advice, we sent someone to get on the waitlist at 6:30, hoping to be sat for 7:45 and were not sat until 8:30. The hostess looked confused, "could not give us an estimated wait", and were just a little rude. So we were waiting with no clue around when we would be sat.. for 2 hours. Came here one night with my boyfriend and we had a good time. It was super packed on a Thursday night, but we eyed two open seats at the bar and immediately sat down. Bar service was attentive and our drinks were good. I had two gin cocktails (a spirit which I famously despise in general lol), their take on the French 75 and another one made with Gray Whale Gin. I did enjoy them. My boyfriend had hot toddies, about which we actually had to inform the bartender what they even were , and he liked them. He's convinced they helped clear his congestion up. Now onto food: -The crab fingers were bomb, albeit very small, but that butter sauce that they're served with should be packaged up and sold. It was delicious! - seafood gumbo (my boyfriend said it was pretty good) -crab and brie soup (just okay) - Bacon-wrapped BBQ Shrimp w/Jambalaya entree: This was interesting. I'm generally used to a more tomato-based NOLA BBQ shrimp, so the charred flavor of this kinda threw me off...and ironically, I would've preferred it without the bacon. Historically I have not been a fan of the food at Chimes. I've learned that that's because I've been ordering the wrong things. Our first trip to the Chimes Lafayette, My wife and I ordered the seafood platter and crab fingers and both were really good. In the past I've ordered gumbo and boudin balls. Neither of those things are what they claim to be. Tomatoes don't go in gumbo...but it's a Baton Rouge based business so what do you expect. Anyway, point is the fried seafood and crab fingers were great and the place is really nice. The outdoor area is an excellent place to hangout while you're waiting for your table. Loved it. The rooms are separated enough to where the busy & party-style guests were located around the bar & those dining were at tables. Alright, let me post this without having been seated yet. My wife called to make a reservation on Monday for today (Wednesday) and they told her they do not take reservations, "you just have to come in early for a table". Fast forward to today. We arrived 20 minutes before the time the group was going to be here to get on the waitlist. Guess what!!!! They had a group of 60 and a group of 15 with reservations that they needed to take care of first. I guess more money to be made then we'll bend the rules. The definition of corruption!!! Now the kicker, we could not get on the waitlist until the whole party arrives. Too bad that one person has to work late and won't be in for another 45-50 minutes. Please do not entertain these aweful practices please, as you will encourage that type of treatment of potential patrons. I have always been a fair reviewer, but this really is the opposite of customer service and equal treatment. Why should we spend our money here??? Please spend it at local restaurants that care for their patrons and treat them equally. Decided to take the group somewhere else where we are appreciated. read more

I would say this is more local, and not a tourist spot, which is great. We had a lot of appetizers, brought my work team here. Boudin Egg Rolls ans Balls excellent, Boudin balls had more rice than sometimes, but was good, egg rolls and sauce, were great. Alligator was really good, and stuffed mushrooms were really, really good. I had the seafood gunbo and the flavor was amazing. Had a side of beans and rice, it was good, I've had better, but it was really good. The bacon wrapped shrimp and jambalaya, was off the chart good. Really good. Po Boy I was told was crazy good. Everyone of the 9, was raving about how good it was, and I love Cajun food. I wish we tried the grilled oysters, I cant say if they were good or not. I will absolutely be back here every time we are in town. The bar is also legit, they have a lot of draft, good draft, not just the standards. It was full and there was a 15 minute wait when we got there so someone loves The Chimes. We didn't. We got the fried alligator tails, char-grilled oysters & a spring salad. The tails were too salty. I left them alone after 4-5 bites. The oysters were in some liquid on the half shell. We expected some flavor that suggested smoke or grilling - it was not there. I didn't like them at all. I ate one. The salad was saturated with salad dressing - we couldn't finish it. We sat in a section of high-top tables, it was very noisy. Our waitress was inattentive. I had to ask another waitress to refill our water glasses. Maybe by chance we picked wrong night & the wrong dish, but before we go back we're going to try some other places around town. read more

First time here and was not disappointed, very busy but plenty of room and a very well trained team. We were seated very quickly and received our drinks shortly afterwards. I really like the ambiance even with the busy fast pace of the restaurant. Our starter was the mushrooms stuffed with crab, crab was plentiful and went well with the mushrooms, buttery and flavorful. The blackened Salmon you can get with the temp of your liking was very well flavored, ordered medium but received well, however the flavor was quite good, and was not dry. Salad comes with this entree, and do get the pepper jelly dressing, you will enjoy, and the red beans and rice held its own. The second entree was the Ribeye Steak perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely, and the chicken and sausage jambalaya went well, and had a balanced flavor. Ok... I came here with a friend right after my 26.2 mile run. Walk in and was greeted, it was packed but we were seated quickly at the bar. Ok first we had a chick and she was very attentive, then the guy came and he was just ok ish. I ordered the seafood lasagna and she ordered the crawfish etouffee. When I tell you the SEAFOOD LASAGNA was the bomb!!! I wanna drive from Houston just to get some more. The portion size was so big she and I split my plate and I still had a nice size to take home for later. The etouffee was good too. But that seafood lasagna?!?! Get there and try it! Once at the table we were immediately greeted by wait staff she was great. We had a table of 6, all 1st timers there. She was patient in explaining dishes as well as recommending. We were all over the menu when ordering and no one was disappointed with their food. Quantity, quality, and taste were all above average especially in this day and age. We can personally recommend the following Frozen margaritas Onion Rings Crawfish fries Brie and crab soup Seafood pasta Catfish perdu ( bed of rice, pan fried catfish on top and crawfish etouffee on top of that) Grilled chicken and cheese grits Chicken fried chicken with Mac n cheese. We went on Sunday around noon & we're lucky enough to get seated right away. Mason was our server & he was very knowledgeable & friendly. When I made mention it was our 1st visit he immediately decided on 3 options to give us samples of, the seafood lasagna, crawfish étouffée & the crab & Brie soup. All three were amazing. We ordered the fried crab fingers, even after Mason suggested the sautéed, wish we would have followed his suggestion. They also have a very extensive craft beer selection! Can't wait to go back! Good Friday 2024 we visited Chimes for our second visit with daughter and grand baby. We sat in the family area at a table and our server was excellent. Attentive, knowledgeable and dressed perfectly. The food was top notch however, as we saw a hostess pass our table her dress was NOT presentable. She was wearing skin tight black yoga pants that seperated her butt checks. High expectation but left very unwhelmed.... We ordered the crab legs for an appetizer. They were ok but the sauce it's in has too much seasoning and it's so salty it almost makes your stomach feel ill. I'm also a sweet tea connoisseur, and their sweet tea was lacking the sweet if you know what I mean. For entrees I got the hamburger with chedder cheese and my husband got the seafood pasta. Both barely had flavor. The best thing there were the seasoned fries that came with my burger. This place is great. I was dining at the oyster bar part of the restaurant. I noticed that the grill brush they use to clean the grill was put on the floor after being used on the grill, and of course after I have already consumed the oysters. That is not sanitary at all. I asked for extra lemons and it came to me on a napkin. Don't get me wrong food was good, but after seeing that, it made me think. My mother has been in food service for 35 plus years, knows the rules and regulations of how a restaurant sanitation should be. If you guys don't want anyone getting sick, please make sure your cooks are wearing proper hair nets and Let them know that there are people dining in your establishment with many experiences and should take precautions on who is dining so they do not leave reviews like this one. read more

Now that we are Lafayette transplants, we were so excited to see it open here and the food is just as good as I remember! The spinach and artichoke dip with fried bow tie pasta were ON POINT!!! Sooo good (and the reason I came honestly). I was so full, I could only eat my salad and three bites of my chicken also (which were both amazing and all the dressings are homemade... ranch and Italian mixed ...mmm!) Saw the good reviews and wanted to see for myself. Based on my experience, I have a different opinion. The restaurant was busy but our wait time was approximately 15 minutes the first time. When we were called for seating, we were escorted to an outside table. Never my preference but we were not given an option. However, because of the amount of activity we were going to accept the seating until we got to the table. It was a high table with high seating. I told the hostess that because of my handicap I needed a regular table. Also, most of the high tables were not occupied so I don't think I was the only customer to not want to be seated there. The person rudely told me that I needed to go back inside and back into seating rotation. It took another 20 minutes before we were seated again. Food - The appetizer we ordered (stuffed mushrooms) was served without accompanying side plates and no amount of requests corrected this. Even when a waitress told us that it wasn't her table, but she would bring the plates, she didn't. So my sister and I decided to just share the serving dish because we were not getting individual plates. Salad was cold and crisp. Entree was served hot and the portion size was good. Everything had a good taste. Ambiance - The restaurant was clean. The noise level was so elevated that it was hard to talk to each other. Lunch was not a peaceful experience.
