We were going to have lunch at Prost today but we were quoted an hour and 45 minute wait, so in the meantime, we got some goodies from The Cheese Trap food truck. They have a Snack Box you can get with fries or tots plus a tiny grilled cheese, which was super cute, and we got that plus some cheese curds. Omg the cheese curds ... I'm a huge curds fan and I mostly get my fix at Culver's, and I think these were even better than those. Next time I'd try one of their sandwiches too, the pesto panini sounded really good too. We have walked by The Cheese Trap four or five times over the past couple years, but each time we already had plans for a meal coming up soon. So this past trip, we planned ahead and said we'd try this place for lunch on a cold December afternoon. We were helped quickly and ordered a couple brisket sandwiches, cheese curds, and mac and cheese bites. I was surprised paying $7.50 for a small-medium size basket of fried cheese curds that they'd also charge me for ranch dipping sauce. We waited a while in the cold parking lot for our food, despite nobody being in line ahead of us. At least it was clear they made it fresh. The brisket sandwiches were pretty good. The multigrain bread could have used some toasting with butter - reading some reviews here and considering it's an extension of the Cheese Haus, I even expected it to come with some gooey melted cheese inside. But the brisket was good, and the bourbon sauce was good as well. I really liked the cheese curds. Quality cheese, good breading, good with the dipping sauce. I would order them again. I don't think anyone in my group, even my six and four year old kids, really enjoyed the breaded mac and cheese bites. I had to eat the leftovers because nobody wanted them, even though kids were "hungry" ten minutes later. I love food trucks, and I've been seeking out food truck rallies for years. However, I always thought one of the benefits of food trucks is not paying rent for a brick-and-mortar, and thus offering great food at slightly reduced prices. The food here was fine; but it felt like I was paying "entertainment venue" prices. $40 for a "snack" for a couple and our young kids feels like what I would pay at a Lions game, not in a parking lot in Frankenmuth. The value proposition just isn't there; next time I will plan to make a lunch reservation somewhere nearby or head on over to Birch Run. read more

I wanted to love this sandwich. How could you go wrong with a Bavarian Black forest ham sandwich with Swiss on pretzel bread? They even add on a Bavarian mustard! A dream of a sandwich with a grilled buttery goodness BUT when you take your first bite, you notice that your ham sandwich has only 2 slices of shaved ham. Checked this out today for the first time and ordered the seasonal special (brisket tacos) and cheese curds. Based on flavor alone, I would give this a 5 star review in the food truck category, but portion sizes are (very) small, especially when compared to the price. Seating availability, especially shaded and non-shaded would not be a factor if this was based on a food truck only category, but let's be honest, we are reviewing restaurants against each other, so it is a factor that needs to be considered, especially since some of the dishes served are (deliciously) saucy and cannot be eaten on the go. I am glad I tried it, but for the price, would likely choose a different venue when in the area. read more

The cheese trap happened to be parked at frankenmuth Fourth of July weekend, and noticed it walking down the drag of frankenmuth. Talk about Good surprise! It was extremely hot out and there were some tables but only a few had umbrellas so I didn't want to order to much hot food. We decided on the brisket grilled cheese. It was delicious and fresh. The food is not that good. I don't understand how this place is right next to the cheese haus and the cheese that is used is basic American yellow cheese for grilled cheese. That's just pure laziness. And the Mac and cheese is from a box and tasted gross. This place need to do better and actually try with there food. the mac n cheese bites are made with kraft mac n cheese, and the cheese curds were more breading than cheese and kinda soggy even though we had to wait for them. portion sizes are small, and the people in front of us got a grilled cheese that looked like something worse than i could make at home lol read more
