    Cheeseburger

The view, that's the one star, everything else was pretty terrible, the bread was like fresh from a grocery store, but it was fresh, the soup and salad we ordered came out after our burgers were served. The salad was ok, thick slice of onion unripe tomatoes. The burgers were overcooked and dry, mine was missing the onions, the fries were good. The chowder came with a thick coating of skin Our waiter was attentive at first then just nowhere to be found. On the way there was a booth of people who worked there?!? Doing nothing, but saying bye thank you for coming, maybe they should help manage the waitstaff

Chicken Parm with noodles in a vodka sauce.

Food was outstanding. The price was not but I had a gift cars. I got a Sunday special. Chicen Parm in a vodka sauce with noodles. Real good. But it came with a soup or salad. I asked for Cesar salad. They never put the salad in the takeout bag. I should have checked but I trust they'd be efficient. Oh well.

Eggplant Parm Sandwich (broiled scallops in the background)

I've been here many times and always enjoy it. The atmosphere is a bit old school, with dark wood and wide booths. The service is usually very good. We were greeted immediately and offered a choice of seating. We had a roomy, comfy booth. The menu offers a wide variety, including specialty seasonal cocktails and daily specials for meals. There's a lunch menu but the entire menu is also available. We were there for lunch, but I couldn't resist the red sangria. It was amazing and a generous pour. I ordered the Eggplant Parm sandwich with onion rings. My date chose the Broiled Scallops. Our waiter offered to bring bread, but never returned. Just as well, because my sandwich was served on enough bread for two. Perhaps I should have asked for a description of the "Chateau Scali Bread." But it sounded delicious. It was, but it was cut far to thick for a sandwich like this. To make matters worse, the eggplant was barely warm. After a few bites, I removed the top of the bread and enjoyed it open faced style - a bit messy but doable. The onion rings were another story. They stole the show! Thinly sliced, golden fried and not greasy. And they were nice and hot. They saved the day, Along with the sangria. The scallops got good reviews and looked very good. They arrived with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and a side of Cole slaw. He cleaned his plate. Our food was delivered by someone other than our waiter. He eventually reappeared, sans bread, and reported having just returned from foot surgery. TMI, perhaps, or an excuse for being absent. I commented on the difficulty, with being in his feet so much. He replied, 'no shit" and left the check. Not the best experience and certainly not up to par with previous dining experiences there. I would definitely return, but would avoid the scali bread (and the waiter) in the future. Forgive the late photo, dear reader, as I had worked thru half the meal before remembering.

But this is my second time at Cucina 38, and it remains SPECTACULAR--like Boston, Prov or NYC spectacular. The mistletoe martini was fantastic and my favorite thing is their sautéed calamari appetizer. The Caesar salad dressing is one of the best--I could bathe in it. The birthday boy had the Bolognese and I had the special--short rib tortellini. Both were excellent. As it was a BD celebration, the pistachio torta was delivered with lit candle, a nice touch for a very yummy cake. Kevin, the chef/owner, even sent over a complimentary plate of house made tiramisu truffles, which were decadent and delicious. Can't forget Olivia, our server. She was amazing and chatty and just really a special addition to a great evening. Make a reservation and go! It is situated in downtown North Attleboro across from Town Hall. My party visited on a Friday night and was seated promptly despite not having a reservation. We were quickly greeted by the staff who helped us get settled. We ordered wine to accompany our meals this evening. The wine list offers a varied selection available in both glasses and bottles. The food menu is a slice of Italy with many options from both the land and sea. For our meals my party selected the Pan Seared Haddock and the Penne Pollo Pesto. The haddock was deliciously cooked and was flavorful, with sides to match. The pesto pasta was also very good, but there was not as much chicken as we would have hoped. Additionally, the pesto sauce was very oily and had a more grainy texture than expected. The flavor was good nonetheless. Overall this was a very good dinner experience. The service at this restaurant is courteous and efficient. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion, and suggest you make it a point to visit sometime!

There's a nonna back there that knows what she's doing! The restaurant has two sides and is cozy. The wine selection is excellent, and our waiter recommended a Montepulciano that was so phenomenal we ended up ordering a whole bottle. We're still craving it days later. We started with the oysters, which I believe were from Wellfleet, and they were outstanding. They were meaty, fresh, and had no brine/salty taste at all. Even the bread with olive oil was memorable because it was perfectly salted and soo flavorful. For my entree, I had the chicken piccata with house‑made gnocchi--- simply divine. Truly one of the best gnocchis I've ever had! Wish there was more of them though. This was our first time trying the restaurant and it was SO good. Just note that the entrance is not at the front of the building, it's at a side door down the alleyway. We came here for our anniversary dinner as the mister knows I love a good home made pasta and from reading that everything is made fresh with hand picked ingredients, he thought the pasta was homemade as well, unfortunately only the gnocchi and ravioli were made in house. We were told that due to staff shortage, they couldn't keep up with making fresh pasta anymore. The bread appetizer was good that had a tasty olive oil that accompanied it. The fresh ricotta and pecorino/prosciutto sticks - both were fine but nothing phenomenal. We both ordered parmigiana after we were told their parm is delicious as they don't put it in the oven twice - so we got one chicken and one veal. We realized when it came out what they meant - the burrata on the parm was cold. Very interesting rendition but not for us. I didn't like a bite of warm chicken then a bite of cold burrata to follow up. Our favorite prob was the dessert, toffee cake - it was a nice finish to dinner. The service was good but it was pretty busy that night so everything felt a bit chaotic, but kudos to the team as glasses were always filled and dishes were cleared promptly. It does feel a bit tight but I'm sure they try to maximize the space they have. It's a bit out of the way so we won't be rushing back.

When the server tells you the evening specials you are left to guess how much they are charging for them. Personally, I think you shouldn't have to ask the cost of specials seeing as the menu has prices. We did asked the price of the filet mignon special because the 2 on the menu were a 10oz for $69.95, other filet was 10oz for $71.95. the 10 oz filet mignon special was $99.95 with asparagus on top with a demi glaze & mashed potatoes. So I am guessing the asparagus is the reason for the additional $30.00?? One of the other specials was a whole lobster with the lobster meat and stuffing inside and a side of mashed Unfortunately we did not ask the price of this special. We really didn't think it would be more than the filet. Guess again...bill came and the 2 lobster specials we had ordered were $120.00 EACH. Husbands had chicken dishes, we had total 4 glasses of wine, 1 baileys and 2 desserts. Bill total $450.00 yet this really isn't the main reason I am writing this review. The maitre had come over to our table to ask how our meal was, he never made eye contact with us again and completely ignored us answering his question. He was merely trying to push us along to free up the table. He was rude and arrogant to say the least! Meanwhile after spending $450.00 for what was really just an average dinner this is how the patrons are treated. No thank you.
