    Side salad

This is a tough one to write. I can't decide on two stars or three. Husband and I went to The Channel Marker for lunch while on vacation. I'm from northern Indiana and when I saw lake perch on the menu, I was pretty excited. I ordered the basket, husband ordered a Rueben. The basket was hugely disappointing. The fries were good but that poor perch was over battered. Lake perch has a unique taste and is a delicate fish. After I removed 3/4 of the batter, I could somewhat taste the perch. There's not a lot of places to eat in Syracuse so we ended up back there with friends the next week. This time I saw a lake perch dinner, with the perch sautéed, on the menu. Pretty pricey for lake perch ($22) but i really wanted some good lake perch, and it was delicious. Almost twice the price I've paid at The Chubby Trout in Elkhart, IN but it was as good. Both times I had the side salad, which is pretty pitiful. A very very small, limp lettuce salad, Syracuse is a "rich" town in the summer with all the summer people who have their huge homes. So The Channel Marker can and does inflate their prices and people pay. Next summer I'm sure I'll go back, order the sautéed lake perch and complain about the price again.

Rode bikes here from Oakwood. Only had a drink. Food looked good but didn't order. Divey kinda seafood restaurant on the water. 3/5 stars as we were denied waterfront table but then saw them seat another couple that appeared to have just walked in too. And there was several open tables outside.

We were waiting by the host stand for several minutes before one of the many hosts walking by said they would be with us in a minute. Got sat and then no one came to our table. A server finally approached and said their was confusion and she would be taking care of us. The atmosphere was not as relaxing and fun as we had hoped. Our cheese curds and potato skins were over cooked but tasted ok. Our burgers were mediocre and didn't have much flavor. We have no interest in going back

Whiskey Tea is awesome Great open air patio seating. Order sashimi tuna and grilled shrimp for a appetizer and Baja fish tacos and tropical shrimp tacos for dinner. The Cajun shrimp is just absolutely freaking amazing. Just the right amount of heat and flavor. The tuna is good. Not bad just ok. Our server Trisha was great she handled the bar and all the tables around her like a pro. All right. The grouper tacos are as good as you would get in Florida. I highly recommend them. Awesome place great food and great service.

Enjoyed a great meal out on the patio. The Chicken Alaska with a bowl of lobster bisque was awesome. The hubby had the yellow fin tuna and wild rice also a great meal. Service was great. The waitress was sweet and attentive to our table. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. We arrived early around 4pm.

Service was great, we had a large party, and they were able to seat us at a couple tables next to each other. Big menu with a lot unique options. My butterflied shrimp dinner was nearly unrecognizable. The shrimp were over fried, nearly burnt, and the handful of brussel sprouts I got as a side were cold. A couple other people's fried meals were overdone as well.

Great food outside. Didn't care for the Pepsi cans though. Really wish it was free refills.

Boathouse Restaurant (Winona Lake) - climate controlled patio dinning with relaxing lake front…read moreviews I'm always interested in dinning & relaxing at a restaurant with good lake front views. The Boathouse Restaurant in Winona Lake has good food and a nice view of...Winona Lake. You can find them about 45 minutes west (driving highway 30) of Fort Wayne near Grace College (see map). The restaurant is set right on the lake. It is also nestled by some cute shops (The Village at Winona) for pre or post dinner browsing. The Boathouse Restaurant's lake views come in a covered patio (see picture). You are right on the lake. All diners can see the water from their table. The patio is enclosed much like a four season room. You can catch the breeze off the water when the windows are open. Or you can shut the windows and pull the shades if the temperature and sun light isn't to your liking. I'm sure this would still be a great view in the cooler fall and spring seasons. The Boathouse is a large restaurant. However, I would encourage reservations via their web site. You can reserve the patio, bar or main dinning areas. The facility is nicely decorated in that boat theme. Lots of attractive hardwoods and lake colors. We found the restaurant to be very comfortable and relaxing. The menu is very large - something for everyone (see menus). Chicken, steak, pasta, salads, wraps, bowls, burgers, seafood - they have it. Prices are reasonable (steak $30+, chicken $23+, burgers $16+). We have been here a couple times. Each time the food was delicious and the service was what you would expect. Here is a run down on the items we ordered: -Table Bread: multigrain bread, served warm and soft, easily pulled apart; nice soft creamy butter accompaniment -Side Salad: simple salad, smaller in size; very fresh with a few side veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes, onion and shredded Parmesan cheese; crunchy croutons; homemade 1000 Island dressing was thick with a smooth taste -Burrito Bowl: my wife loved the fresh lettuce and peppers; chicken was nicely grilled, moist and slightly seasoned; rice was perfectly cooked with a firm consistency -Tenderloin (special menu item): outstanding! Very moist and tender, slightly thicker steak; thin batter with a slight crisp and hint of oil; grilled onions were a nice but unusual add; bun was slightly grilled, buttered and soft -Macaroni salad: mayo base that tended to be a bit heavy; nicely cooked noodles; added small pieces of celery, onion and green pepper; nice adder to the sandwich If you like lake views and relaxing dinning...make the drive to the Boathouse Restaurant. Also make sure you get there before 6p so you can enjoy the shopping village that is near the restaurant. And...take a long walk down the channel to see the big lake.

Pasta Diablo - $23 - Shrimp, scallops, and clams with linguine in a spicy cajun tomato sauce. This had really good flavor. It's a bit spicy, and the heat will catch up to you. 5/5 stars. Chocolate Cake - $11 - There's a choice between one or two scoops of ice cream, and it costs a dollar more for the second scoop. Even if there wasn't two of us, you need two scoops to go with the cake, because it's a good portion. It's a pretty decent cake. 5/5 stars. Service was good. Ambiance is nice. Great place to get a good meal and to hang out by the lake.

Another enjoyable evening dining with dear friends at West Main Kitchen, and it did not disappoint!…read moreSo warm and inviting, the owners Jerry and Jen (pictured below), welcome you as guests at their table vs. just customers. Our friends shared: "It's like they truly SEE you!" The salad: fresh, light, and delicious (not pictured...sorry!). Tonight's mains were so yummy, one hated to take the last bite! It's clear that Jerry (owner and chef) puts his heart into menu selection and preparation! Two of us selected the Mardi Gras twin airline chicken breasts, and the others chose the New Orleans BBQ colossal shrimp over basmati rice, and the Cajun seasoned hangar steak, All entrees came with a side of roasted Parmesan crusted zucchini, yellow squash, and red onion. The Mardi Gras chicken was one of the best chicken dishes we've ever had! Spicy, savory, crispy exterior with the most tender moist interior! It looks dark in the pic, but trust me, it was SO good! Our friend loved the 6 very large shrimp, lightly seasoned and served over rice. My husband had the generously portioned hangar steak, seared to perfection on the outside and wonderful, juicy, mid-rare on the inside. PLEASE NOTE: I failed to get the camera out before our dishes were half eaten, but hope that the deliciousness still shines through! We concluded with the shareable bananas foster, flambéed at the table. Just the right size to enjoy a few bites of sweet goodness at the end of our meal. West Main is a hidden delight, and if you're looking for a unique, comfortable dinner with loved one(s), make a reservation! Winter dinners are only available on Fridays and Saturdays, so plan ahead!
