This was such a unique, lively and colorful place! It fully showcased Pakistani culture and I loved it. I felt like I was transported to Pakistan the moment I stepped into The Chai Spot. Aside from the tea, they also sold all kinds of goodies--from traditional dresses to books to little trinkets--which I later found out that 70% of the products they sold here were handmade by their rural women & men. There was just so much to explore that my eyes and my heart were full and I haven't even had their teas yet. Another couple of things I found out later on while I indulged myself in more chai than I probably should have and scrolled through their website: (1) half of their profit goes to support women and children in Pakistan, and (2) this place is a "social-enterprise dedicated to peace-building and socio-economic empowerment of women and children in Pakistan." With that, truly, my heart and my belly could not be fuller and I'm so glad I made a point to visit this place at Tlaquepaque! There were some tables and chairs, as well as area rugs where groups sat crisscross applesauce, outside the store on the terrace since they're located on the second floor. They also had a few of these super charming balconies you can hang out and sip your drink at. If you're not in a rush, I think staying and having your tea there completes the whole experience. What we tried: Butter Chai - 5/5 Traditional Cardamom -4/5 Iced Black - 4/5 From the three drinks we got, my ultimate favorite was the Butter Chai. Apparently, they don't consider this as their best seller, but I have seen so many people rave about this particular drink and I couldn't be happier that I went for it. It was the perfect symphony of sweet and creamy with the spices not being too overwhelming. I didn't know that it came with some toppings of crushed pistachios too, but they make sure to ask if you're okay with that when you order. Overall, this one's quite a special place. I took a trip to Sedona this weekend, my first time, and my first visit to The Chai Spot in Tlaquepaque. I popped in and ordered a Butter Chai which sounded good on paper--but tasted like a cup of liquid butter. Nothing remotely close to good. One of my friends ordered a regular chai, which had an absolute terrible taste--like a cup a skim milk. There was no chai, cardamom, or fennel in it at all. My other friend had never tried chai and we refused to let her try ours because it was awful tasting. What is also disappointing are the cup servings, which are kid size, so tiny and expensive (nearly $8 for maybe a 4-6oz). They don't modify their chai drinks at all for milk base options and the lady taking the order was somewhat rude/dismissive. Nestled in the upper corner of a 2nd floor building is this vibrant, colorful & unique hangout drink spot that serves an enticing menu of "traditional & unique Chai drinks such as Himalayan Butter Chai and Coconut Rose Chai" & prices range from $6.50-$7.50. To my surprise & delight, they also sell colorful clothing, decor & snacks from Turkey & Pakistan. It made my heart happy to read in the online shop description that the owner sends profits to support women & children. What lured me in to visit this adorable drink spot are the welcoming pictures on Yelp of the cozy loungey atmosphere where you can borrow a book, sit & read while relaxing on a low to the ground super colorful couch. I really wanted to try all the drinks because they sounded so unique & yummy. The Butter Chai and the Coconut Rose Chai (vegan) were my top 2 contenders but when the cashier told me I can't take out the sugar (albeit organic) I decided to get an sugar-free drink recommended by the cashier, the Hibiscus Iced tea. Made with hisbiscus, lemongrass, fennel & agave, it was definitely stronger on the bitter, dry hibiscus side and not as sweet & wasn't what I expected. I wouldn't get it again but would like to splurge & try the other drinks next time. I really love the unique ingredients they use here as opposed to the cookie cutter Starbucks drinks. Here, drinks are made from scratch & use ingredients like cardamom, fennel, clove, star anise, salt & rose water. They garnish drinks with nutmeg, pistacio & almonds. I love how one of their drinks, the Sulaimani Chai was even inspired by the Biblical King Solomon. They even have a mini marketplace where 70% of their products are handmade by Pakistani rural women & men, 50% of their profits support women & children in Pakistan. Amazing! The most cutest thing is how the Chai Spot began & that's with a love story & a marriage of two very different families. I highly encourage a visit to The Chai Spot if you're in the Sedona area & you like unique drinks & fun hangouts. My lack of 1 star was simply due to not being able to take out or substitute organic sugar for more substitute sweetener no sugar at all. Otherwise, highly recommend! read more

I really enjoyed The Chai Spot. It's upstairs. You wouldn't know it existed if they didn't have their menu sign on the ground level, right in front of the stairs. Before I went in to place my order, I noticed the relaxed vibe and seating. They have a retail store right when you walk in, so I wondered if I was even in the right place. But past the clothing, I ordered my drink and paid. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready, but I walked outside to the other seating area on the other side of the store. In a small separate balcony, there is a small round table and chairs for two. I enjoyed my chai drink outside. Delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient. As a long term customer we often recommended The Chai Spot to family and friends who travel to Sedona. That ends today. Our friends from Australia went there on Jan 5th only to encounter the rudest employee imaginable. A young woman who acted as if customers are stupid and unwanted. Her behavior became a group conversation between our friends and the customers behind them who were also treated very rudely. I've never said this before in a Yelp review, but this woman needs to be fired. I give our friends credit for not reacting more strongly to her behavior. Going to the Chai Spot was well worth the stop. The area is really beautiful and the business has a nice balcony-style area to sit and enjoy your drink or food. I was between two drinks, so I asked about the menu. They were very kind and explained that the traditional cardamom was a family recipe and was the reason they opened this business, while the butter chai is a sweeter, dessert-style drink. A delightful spot nestled in Tlaquepaque, this must be THE place for Chai given the crowded patio and the long lines on a Tuesday night, though we were here around the holidays. They use amazing ingredients and had some unique combinations, including coconut rose and an iced orange blossom tea. My partner got a traditional Chai, and I wanted something warm and floral and the coconut rose was perfect for that. We really liked the traditional too! Lastly, the service was fantastic. The women taking orders and distributing them were so friendly and kind and took their time with making our recommendations to everyone who asked (including us) despite the line, which we appreciated. When I was researching places to try in Sedona, The Chai Spot popped up as a place to try! We stopped in for a mid-day treat (iced vs hot as it was so warm outside) - we got the Iced Chai and Hibiscus Iced teas. The iced tea was a bit sweet but very flavorful. The interior of the shop was also a clothing store and had a bunch of cute things for sale! Seems very community oriented too - they were doing henna tattoos on the day we were there. The spices and sugar levels were good and kept me happy. I got a rusk/biscuit with it and it paired well. Also do try the Indian/Pakistani snacks such as Kurkure! I one time tried the Coconut Rose, but the coconut milk threw me off personally. For chai, I personally like and suggest getting whole milk for the taste, richness, and authenticity, but for those who want dairy free, you could try this one. Here's the thing I really loved so much about this place, but it also had its drawbacks. Vibe is one thousand percent there. From the amazing patio, views around the shopping quarter down to the people's met while enjoying our drinks and downtime. I love trying new things and you can typically count on me to try more than one drink while somewhere new or find my favorite. This stop I opted for an iced dirty chai with coconut milk instead of half n half affixing the flavor would be brought out more. I also ordered their Hibiscus tea which is sugar free. I added three pumps of agave instead of Their typical amount. The Hibiscus was definitely my favorite while the chai was decent but just okay. I do agree the place is quite overpriced. We decided to stop in for some much needed caffeine and a break after driving over two hours to visit Sedona and Tlaquepaque. We climbed the Spanish style concrete and tile stairs to the second story of Tlaquepaque Village and into The Chai Spot, for some hot fresh chai. The sign above the kitchen visible to us at the counter says " America's First Chai Dhaba". According to Google, a dhaba is a "roadside or highway side restaurant or diner in the Indian subcontinent. Dhabas are very famous for their tea because their main purpose when they first started operating was to serve tea to tired truck drivers and travellers." Based on this definition, I agree that this is the first dhaba that I have been to, and thankfully so, being a weary driver and traveler. I began by asking the server if there was ginger in any of the chai teas. She explained that none of their teas had ginger. This made me quite happy because I am sensitive to Gginger. I decided to go with the classic that she said was the favorite of most customers. we ordered: - Traditional Cardamom x2 - Organic whole milk and water, Black tea, Cardamom, Fennel, Sugar. Absolutely delicious. Like a comforting, warm hug. I think it must be the fennel and cardamom that give it a unique and lovely fragrance and flavor. - Iced Hibiscus - Water, Hibiscus flowers, Lemongrass, Agave, Rose water This little café has a shopping mini market area that had some beautiful gifts and earrings. There is a seating area with the fireplace inside. There are also two large patios with floor pillow, seating and small café tables on balconies overlooking the shopping center below on all three sides. I am in love with its charm and can't wait to return just to visit this dhaba once more. I felt like I was in an exotic country, or at least in Europe (lol) at a small village cafe. This is a cute little spot located on the second floor of Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village in Sedona. It offers some Chai drinks with assorted biscuits and also little knick knacks that you can purchase. They have cushion/pillow seating along the floors outside on their patio with some traditional seating, as well. This is a hidden gem in Tlaquepaque Village. We stopped here on the way from Phoenix to Sedona and ended up spending so much time in this area because of everything they had going on. The Chai Spot is located in an upstairs corner of the village and seemingly always has a line going out the door. They have a lot of seating outside the entrances/exits and balconies that fit two people each. There isn't any seating inside as it is filled with other items they sell. The menu has more than traditional chai with different variations and they sell small treats at the counter (rusks, turkish delights, biscuits, etc.). I ordered an iced chai with coconut milk. I don't think I'd had a traditional chai until this point, just chai lattes from coffee shops. The chai from here was delicious with a splash of coconut milk that was nice. It's definitely not as sweet as what you would get in a regular coffee shop, but it was easy to adjust to after a couple of sips. The service is quick and all the iced drinks come with a straw they've bent, which is a surprisingly cute touch. read more

We got the Thai iced tea and the Turkish coffee. The Thai iced tea was delicious and not too sweet, and better than some of the Thai restaurants we've been too.
