I came to Sedona for a day visit and stopped into this incredible place for an early evening chai. The shop is buzzing with the South Asian diaspora and is beautifully designed to reflect North-Western Indian culture with gorgeous, popping colors. My absolute favorite part was sitting down on the cozy floor beds with pillows and browsing the racks of books by South Asian authors. They sell a great selection of traditional biscuits that you can purchase to pair with their different masala teas. I got the Cardamom Chai, which was great, though I usually prefer low sugar in my hot drinks. Next time, I'll ask them to customize the sugar level and report back. It's a fantastic hangout spot for friends or family or even just by yourself!
I took a trip to Sedona this weekend, my first time, and my first visit to The Chai Spot in Tlaquepaque. I popped in and ordered a Butter Chai which sounded good on paper--but tasted like a cup of liquid butter. Nothing remotely close to good. One of my friends ordered a regular chai, which had an absolute terrible taste--like a cup a skim milk. There was no chai, cardamom, or fennel in it at all. My other friend had never tried chai and we refused to let her try ours because it was awful tasting. What is also disappointing are the cup servings, which are kid size, so tiny and expensive (nearly $8 for maybe a 4-6oz). They don't modify their chai drinks at all for milk base options and the lady taking the order was somewhat rude/dismissive. While The Chai Spot has cute aesthetics, their drinks were terrible and not worth the money.
this place was just what I needed on a nice warm day. Tons of hot options for tea and also cold tea options. The staff was very polite offered their advice or assistance with helping to select some of the popular options. everything is made to order which is really nice and there's a little shopping that can be done while you wait. Definitely a nice place to sit on the patio and enjoy your tea of choice.
4 stars overall The Chai Spot, located in the super classy yet down to Earth Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts shopping center, is a must visit if you're in the Sedona area. Nestled in the upper corner of a 2nd floor building is this vibrant, colorful & unique hangout drink spot that serves an enticing menu of "traditional & unique Chai drinks such as Himalayan Butter Chai and Coconut Rose Chai" & prices range from $6.50-$7.50. To my surprise & delight, they also sell colorful clothing, decor & snacks from Turkey & Pakistan. It made my heart happy to read in the online shop description that the owner sends profits to support women & children. What lured me in to visit this adorable drink spot are the welcoming pictures on Yelp of the cozy loungey atmosphere where you can borrow a book, sit & read while relaxing on a low to the ground super colorful couch. I really wanted to try all the drinks because they sounded so unique & yummy. The Butter Chai and the Coconut Rose Chai (vegan) were my top 2 contenders but when the cashier told me I can't take out the sugar (albeit organic) I decided to get an sugar-free drink recommended by the cashier, the Hibiscus Iced tea. Made with hisbiscus, lemongrass, fennel & agave, it was definitely stronger on the bitter, dry hibiscus side and not as sweet & wasn't what I expected. I wouldn't get it again but would like to splurge & try the other drinks next time. I really love the unique ingredients they use here as opposed to the cookie cutter Starbucks drinks. Here, drinks are made from scratch & use ingredients like cardamom, fennel, clove, star anise, salt & rose water. They garnish drinks with nutmeg, pistacio & almonds. I love how one of their drinks, the Sulaimani Chai was even inspired by the Biblical King Solomon. They even have a mini marketplace where 70% of their products are handmade by Pakistani rural women & men, 50% of their profits support women & children in Pakistan. Amazing! The most cutest thing is how the Chai Spot began & that's with a love story & a marriage of two very different families. I highly encourage a visit to The Chai Spot if you're in the Sedona area & you like unique drinks & fun hangouts. My lack of 1 star was simply due to not being able to take out or substitute organic sugar for more substitute sweetener no sugar at all. Otherwise, highly recommend!
I really enjoyed The Chai Spot. It's upstairs. You wouldn't know it existed if they didn't have their menu sign on the ground level, right in front of the stairs. Before I went in to place my order, I noticed the relaxed vibe and seating. They have a retail store right when you walk in, so I wondered if I was even in the right place. But past the clothing, I ordered my drink and paid. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready, but I walked outside to the other seating area on the other side of the store. In a small separate balcony, there is a small round table and chairs for two. I enjoyed my chai drink outside. Delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely come back again, the next time I'm in Sedona. Parking: Free, shared.
A cute chia spot in Sedona?! This was not in my bingo card. This place is absolutely beautiful. They've kept the authentic decor as well as a lot of the snacks and cultural items that are for sale. I got a standard chai, there was an aunty making it on the side so you knew it was the real deal. The chai was spot on! I did feel like it was over priced to pay around $7 for chai, but boy it was worth it. 10/10!
Looked forward to visiting this shop after a day of walking around Sedona. Love the selections of chai and the decor. Lots of fun, ethnic items to purchase. Not busy so was able to order right away and drinks came quickly. Drinks were tasty. Only downside was the attitude of the counter helper. Barely greeted us, took order w bored attitude, didn't expand on questions asked. Just might have been a moment she was having but bummed the vibe.
The aroma lured us in up a flight of stairs to a charming Chai heaven. The ambient was very cute, a little retail shop, pillows for you to just chill and read or catch up with your friends, fun sweet delights and delicious pick me up while observing the passer by, a great pass time.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Chai Spot!!! This place is an absolute must every time I'm in the area. Their iced chai is next-level amazing - hands down one of the best chais I've ever had, no exaggeration. It's that good. The outdoor seating has the best vibe and makes the whole experience even better. Whenever I'm in Sedona, this is always my first stop, no question. I seriously wish this place was closer because I'd be here all the time!!!
Stopped by the Dirty Chai at The Chai Spot and yeah... this is one of those drinks you don't forget. Perfect balance of bold espresso and warm chai spices--smooth, not too sweet, and hits just right whether you're starting your morning or cooling off after walking around Sedona. You can actually taste the quality, not just sugar and milk like most spots. If you're out here, do yourself a favor and grab one. Simple, clean, and honestly one of the best chai mixes I've had in a minute. #SedonaEats #DirtyChai #CoffeeLovers #ChaiVibes #ArizonaSpots
The place is cute with a nice outdoor seating area. I went with an iced chai as I was quite warm and didn't want a hot beverage. I liked it overall, but think it could be more spicy. It's commendable that 50% of their profits support women and children in Pakistan.
Super cute spot with a fabulous patio and great drink options. The hibiscus tea was amazing. My dad is a regular chai drinker and he said this was the best chai he's ever had
Going to the Chai Spot was well worth the stop. The area is really beautiful and the business has a nice balcony-style area to sit and enjoy your drink or food. I was between two drinks, so I asked about the menu. They were very kind and explained that the traditional cardamom was a family recipe and was the reason they opened this business, while the butter chai is a sweeter, dessert-style drink. I ended up ordering the traditional cardamom and it was very tasty. It had a distinctly different taste than most chai I have had since there was more spice and depth of flavor.
Absolutely delicious Chai. We ordered a traditional with no sugar and a couple of dirty. If I lived here, I would have one every day! Space is also very near to explore. Please come and create your own adventure. read more
This was such a unique, lively and colorful place! It fully showcased Pakistani culture and I loved it. I felt like I was transported to Pakistan the moment I stepped into The Chai Spot. Aside from the tea, they also sold all kinds of goodies--from traditional dresses to books to little trinkets--which I later found out that 70% of the products they sold here were handmade by their rural women & men. There was just so much to explore that my eyes and my heart were full and I haven't even had their teas yet. Another couple of things I found out later on while I indulged myself in more chai than I probably should have and scrolled through their website: (1) half of their profit goes to support women and children in Pakistan, and (2) this place is a "social-enterprise dedicated to peace-building and socio-economic empowerment of women and children in Pakistan." With that, truly, my heart and my belly could not be fuller and I'm so glad I made a point to visit this place at Tlaquepaque! There were some tables and chairs, as well as area rugs where groups sat crisscross applesauce, outside the store on the terrace since they're located on the second floor. They also had a few of these super charming balconies you can hang out and sip your drink at. If you're not in a rush, I think staying and having your tea there completes the whole experience. What we tried: Butter Chai - 5/5 Traditional Cardamom -4/5 Iced Black - 4/5 From the three drinks we got, my ultimate favorite was the Butter Chai. Apparently, they don't consider this as their best seller, but I have seen so many people rave about this particular drink and I couldn't be happier that I went for it. It was the perfect symphony of sweet and creamy with the spices not being too overwhelming. I didn't know that it came with some toppings of crushed pistachios too, but they make sure to ask if you're okay with that when you order. Overall, this one's quite a special place. If you get a chance to stroll around the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, I highly recommend you stop by here! read more
The chai itself wasn't my cup of tea but the lady doing henna inside was amazing! Have a seat and let her do her thing or pick from her book of designs. Inside the chai spot she sits in the corner area and there's also barely a wait because she moves fast. You can browse the cute store and get a drink. read more

When I was researching places to try in Sedona, The Chai Spot popped up as a place to try! We stopped in for a mid-day treat (iced vs hot as it was so warm outside) - we got the Iced Chai and Hibiscus Iced teas. The iced tea was a bit sweet but very flavorful. The interior of the shop was also a clothing store and had a bunch of cute things for sale! Seems very community oriented too - they were doing henna tattoos on the day we were there. Very cute aesthetic and outdoor seating! read more

This was a lovely place to relax and drink amazing cups of chai. You can get them served hot or cold and have the option of singer, agave, honey or stevia for sweeteners. Order at the counter and they will bring your order to you. read more
So grateful for a place that makes authentic South Asian chai- I was really craving and missing it! It's located in a prime shopping area and has an amazing vibe! I LOVE the outdoor seating area- a perfect place to hang with friends and family, or get some work done. Of course, I recommend the OG authentic, Traditional Cardamom (Hot drink). The spices and sugar levels were good and kept me happy. I got a rusk/biscuit with it and it paired well. Also do try the Indian/Pakistani snacks such as Kurkure! I one time tried the Coconut Rose, but the coconut milk threw me off personally. For chai, I personally like and suggest getting whole milk for the taste, richness, and authenticity, but for those who want dairy free, you could try this one. Overall, good service and homey, comforting, and nostalgic vibes. Highly recommend if in the area! read more

I received henna inside the chai shop (3/7/26) that chemically burnt me which resulted in my skin scarring underneath. i've never had this reaction as i've gotten henna plenty of times before. made my skin sore to the touch and swollen. do not recommend. read more
I honestly really enjoy the chai here, I always get the cardamom chai. I do however like my chai to be on the sweeter end so I add more sugar. The place is so charming and embellished with all the things that remind you of India ! read more

Here's the thing I really loved so much about this place, but it also had its drawbacks. Vibe is one thousand percent there. From the amazing patio, views around the shopping quarter down to the people's met while enjoying our drinks and downtime. I love trying new things and you can typically count on me to try more than one drink while somewhere new or find my favorite. This stop I opted for an iced dirty chai with coconut milk instead of half n half affixing the flavor would be brought out more. I also ordered their Hibiscus tea which is sugar free. I added three pumps of agave instead of Their typical amount. The Hibiscus was definitely my favorite while the chai was decent but just okay. I do agree the place is quite overpriced. You are definitely paying for the vibes and Sedona price tag. This shop area holds many expensive stores. Walking the area is beautiful and it definitely feels like you are worlds away. read more

As a big chai fan, I got really excited when I saw The Chai Spot pop up on my list of things to do in Sedona. The shop is adorable and makes you feel like you've been transported to another country. Since it was a 90 degree day, getting an iced tea was the obvious choice. Although I came with the intention of getting chai, I ended up getting an iced Thai tea instead. Still not sure why I veered from the chai as it's their namesake but it's always hard for me to pass up a Thai tea. read more

This is a hidden gem in Tlaquepaque Village. We stopped here on the way from Phoenix to Sedona and ended up spending so much time in this area because of everything they had going on. The Chai Spot is located in an upstairs corner of the village and seemingly always has a line going out the door. They have a lot of seating outside the entrances/exits and balconies that fit two people each. There isn't any seating inside as it is filled with other items they sell. The menu has more than traditional chai with different variations and they sell small treats at the counter (rusks, turkish delights, biscuits, etc.). I ordered an iced chai with coconut milk. I don't think I'd had a traditional chai until this point, just chai lattes from coffee shops. The chai from here was delicious with a splash of coconut milk that was nice. It's definitely not as sweet as what you would get in a regular coffee shop, but it was easy to adjust to after a couple of sips. The service is quick and all the iced drinks come with a straw they've bent, which is a surprisingly cute touch. read more

We decided to stop in for some much needed caffeine and a break after driving over two hours to visit Sedona and Tlaquepaque. We climbed the Spanish style concrete and tile stairs to the second story of Tlaquepaque Village and into The Chai Spot, for some hot fresh chai. The sign above the kitchen visible to us at the counter says " America's First Chai Dhaba". According to Google, a dhaba is a "roadside or highway side restaurant or diner in the Indian subcontinent. Dhabas are very famous for their tea because their main purpose when they first started operating was to serve tea to tired truck drivers and travellers." Based on this definition, I agree that this is the first dhaba that I have been to, and thankfully so, being a weary driver and traveler. I began by asking the server if there was ginger in any of the chai teas. She explained that none of their teas had ginger. This made me quite happy because I am sensitive to Gginger. I decided to go with the classic that she said was the favorite of most customers. we ordered: - Traditional Cardamom x2 - Organic whole milk and water, Black tea, Cardamom, Fennel, Sugar. Absolutely delicious. Like a comforting, warm hug. I think it must be the fennel and cardamom that give it a unique and lovely fragrance and flavor. - Iced Hibiscus - Water, Hibiscus flowers, Lemongrass, Agave, Rose water This little café has a shopping mini market area that had some beautiful gifts and earrings. There is a seating area with the fireplace inside. There are also two large patios with floor pillow, seating and small café tables on balconies overlooking the shopping center below on all three sides. I am in love with its charm and can't wait to return just to visit this dhaba once more. I felt like I was in an exotic country, or at least in Europe (lol) at a small village cafe. There are bathrooms, located at multiple spots throughout Tlaquepaque village. read more

This is a cute little spot located on the second floor of Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village in Sedona. It offers some Chai drinks with assorted biscuits and also little knick knacks that you can purchase. They have cushion/pillow seating along the floors outside on their patio with some traditional seating, as well. I actually accidentally took a small nap outside because the sun felt so amazing and it was so comfortable. All in all, this is a cute area to come to and support local. read more
Located in the charming Tlaquepaque Arts Village. Delicious Chai and an atmospheric back patio. Only nit - $7 -ish for a small chai cup is pretty steep, especially when it isn't freshly made. But understandable as an establishment that only sells chai and cookies, they must break even some way. read more
