I have been doing business with Ace Hardware before it was Ace. I used to love the staff. Best help ever. But it was handed down to another generation. I have had a business account. On it are two names: one well accepted as masculine and the other female. With the change in ownership comes the woke generation. They mostly staff the check-out. At the check out a couple of the staff still wear masks...years after they were discredited for doing anything except depriving brains of oxygen. Okay if they want the attention. The person who waited on me today was really stubbornly insistent I was going to tell her which name on my account to use. Not the first time or the same person. I wasn't going to validate her gender disporia by playing the woke game and not only refused to validate her, I let her have a piece of my mind...gently, not loud, but more stubborn than her. She insisted I must tell her my name because she asked for my name. I told her it was on my account screen right there on display. She only need look for herself. I would be the masculine one because as anyone can see, I am male. Already because of the desperate need people have there to have others respect or reinforce their gender and other disphorias I give all the business I can to other businesses. I used to be such a regular I called Ace my parts warehouse for my business. I knew the staff. Now I find it to be the worst business I have ever walked into for over 50 years since people would refuse to ring me up because I was too dark skinned (with blond hair at that) I was deeply tanned. I worked on water front as a life guard. No one should have to go into a business and validate insecure people who are trying to shove their ideas that hardly qualify as values, on the customers. It should be rebranded as Ace the Woke Place. read more

This is just super close and everyone who works here is friendly. If they don't know the answer they find another associate that does know the answer. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm so much better at doing repairs at home myself now from being educated by the staff. I get my pet food there also as they have better choices than Wholefoods by far. I'm somewhat of an expert on swamp coolers now. I'm happy they are walking distance, I get all my gardening stuff here. They also have a decent collection of art supplies. I buy my Princeton brushes here and my Gamsol. Friendliness goes a long way in my book. read more

Ace is the place. Remember that jingle? It's true! As we were remodeling our new home, we noticed that almost everything in it came from Ace or Home Depot. Now I know why. Almost anything can be found here, and Ace is just a 15-minute walk from my house. This looks like a little store, only about 100 feet wide. These looks are deceiving - the building is 3 rooms deep, and there's another one behind it! Often when we walk in there will be a clerk ready to help us. We have had window screens custom made here. I bought a ladder here. The last time we dropped in I was looking for drip irrigation parts. Not only did the clerk know what and where they fit together, he was able to recommend ways to patch my irrigation system properly. There's always something fascinating in the impulse buy section. We bought 'Soft as Silk' last spring because it is a sure-fire insect repellent. I have bought those little color-coded rubber sleeves for my house keys so I can tell them apart easily. I have been going to this ACE for over 14 yrs. Everyone always friendly and helpful. Today went to get spray paint, had a friend with me. We didn't see the color on the lower shelves, so my friend being very tall took from the top shelf not noticing the taping that said it was back stock. With in seconds, no kidding, 2 women came over to accost us about 1) that's backstock, the color is down here, and the other rude comment with glaring eyes, I cannot remember the exact words. I wanted to put the paint down and leave it. We apologized for not seeing the paint on the shelf we were supposed to take from and not noticing the 1 inch tape stating the top shelf was backstock. I was shocked at the attitudes of these women. Even my friend said, "wow, what the heck"! Go work in a juvie detention center. read more

My husband and I were told that we could purchase a floor model grill and get 10% discount due to it being dirty/dusty. We left to think it over, but were assured we'd get the same deal if he wasn't there to check us out the next day. We came back the next day to purchase the grill and a "manager" told us he wouldn't honor the deal and treated us with suspicion and disrespect. Beyond contestation the best Ace I've ever been too. Just moved to Sedona and had some questions about some vegetables and optimal growth periods here for planting and harvesting. They were great to get me educated on the local seasons, soil reccomendations, etc. Was told Ace had the best propane refill costs around, so I came back and bought a new tank and had it filled. Guy working the propane was full of enthusiasm and happy to assist me. Super courteous and really friendly. Having mostly lived in big cities all across the country, I'm never stoked to have to deal with the big box Home Depots or Lowes for non-contractor related needs. Ace have always been good, locally owned businesses, but the one in Sedona is the best. Yes, they are sometimes super busy and slow to checkout durring those times, but they are worth the wait. Supporting good, friendly, local businesses is what it's all about. When in need, this Ace is definately the place. read more

I have lived in Sedona foe 20 years and have been a frequent patron of Ace. I am done with them now. They have an abusive return policy and they always have. The greed and uncooperativeness of management has often been apparent but this latest event just pushed me over the top. I came in to get a fitting to connect two pieces of a fuel line. The man who helped me suggested i purchase two fittings as it was hard to tell which size was correct. I took them home, tried one, it was the wrong size. I brought it back to return it with the receipt and was told I could not return it due to the tag being off. I told them that I had to take the tag off to try use the fitting. I had the receipt for it. They refused to allow the return. This is not the first time they have done this type of thing to me. In the past I have spent thousands of dollars here. I won't be doing that again in the future. read more

A store that continues to bring joy every time I go in. One great example of the excellent, always helpful crew they have there is this: I brought in a toy that had a stripped screw that prevented me from changing the batteries. The man spent a good ten minutes on it. He took two batteries out of the pack I brought over. He put them in and handed it to me, not even asking me to buy the package of batteries that he opened. I, of course, did buy them. It was the least I could do. That level of customer service should create life long customers. It worked on me. read more

Feel free to read the rant below but long story short: They said they would take back a ladder we ended up not needing. They got so far as to putting the ladder back into their shop. Then the manager decided after seeing our old dirty SUV that he actually "couldn't" take the ladder back without the stupid paper that the ladder came with because that was the only way they could resell the ladder. According to Ace policy he is a liar, he could have taken it back but chose not to. He just figured we were trying to con him (yeah that's why we waited like a week to return a ladder and didn't bother saving the receipt or the "packaging". So enjoy the $170 you made off of us because you won't make a penny more as spend the next year buying stuff for our empty home off Soldiers Pass at every store other than yours. Rant: Obviously Ace stores around the nation get 4-5 stars for having so much stuff packed into one place and priced at an affordable (not amazing but def not a rip off) price. However THIS one gets one star and loses my business from here on out. I'll try not to go on and on but basically, we just moved to Sedona with nothing because we still kept our home in CA as a second home. So needless to say we need a lot of random items. so I was thrilled to have an Ace right down the street. We went in about a week ago 3 minutes before closing (they really wanted us out by 6 and were quite annoying how rushed they were in the whole process). We had actually called in 5 minutes before we left and told them how desperate we were to buy a tall ladder because of a crazy window with morning sun in our bedroom (we are complete night owls and are currently forced to wake up at sunrise. ok so we get the 10 foot ladder and we try to hang out temporary curtains and it proves to be extremely dangerous so we give up and just leave the ladder in our room in disgust. Then the day after we drive to Cottonwood to the Home Depot and buy an extension ladder...... which we make work but again, weird shaped windows and it still isn't right and dangerous. So that weekend we return the Home Depot and the ladder. No problem, no questions asked. The next day we go to return the ladder we purchased for $175 at Ace (mind you i had already asked a clerk the day before if our lack of receipt would be an issue she said it would prob be ok, they just need to "check out" the ladder. Fine. So we show up, i go in there and the woman at the counter sends some really young guys to "check out" the ladder. They ask if we have the stupid paper "packaging" that it came with and of course we dont. We threw it out because we had no intention of returning the ladder when we bought it. Mind you, in our attempt we scuffed the ladder a tiny bit (it would come off but still, we DID use it). So we tell the kid, look we just moved here, this didn't work and we didn't buy it with the intention of using it and then returning it. He goes "ok, you didn't?" I'm like "um, no". I mean hello, if that was our master plan wouldn't we have CAREFULLY removed the packaging, kept the receipt, use the dumb thing without scuffing it, cleaned any little scuffs and then return it within one or two days.... not a week??!!! Of course i don't say this. So he takes the ladder back into their shed and says it's ok and no problem. We then say "hey we will gladly order the correct ladder from you which is double the cost and you can put the price of this one towards that order." To which he is happy to do. But not so fast! The actual manager whoever he is comes out, and suddenly decides "yeah we can't take it back because we can't RESELL IT WITHOUT THE STUPID PAPER IT CAME WITH". Really??! You just agreed to take it back! It's in your shed! You want to resell a used ladder for full price even if we had the original paper it would be torn. LIAR. I soooo wanted to call him out on his BS. According Ace Hardwares policy (check their page yourself plus live by one in CA) RECOMMENDS that you keep the original packaging and leaves it up to each store to decide IF they will accept a return. This "manager" saw the old dirty crappy SUV my husband refuses to sell and decided that we were full of crap. THATS what happened. Well i hope you enjoy the $170 you made off a ladder we didn't want. We just moved into an empty house up Soldiers Pass (the wealthiest part of town) and i had FULL intention to buy as much stuff from you guys as possible (live supporting local businesses). But now i will only go to you guys as a last resort for little things IF i have to. I'll just make the 18 minute drive to Cottonwoods Home Depot when i want something or just freaking order it from Amazon, walmart, hone depot or any other big box store. Oh and your garden is a joke and you should be giving away your dying plants. read more

I really do like this Sedona ace hardware. They have a little bit of everything. The employees are very helpful. It's pricey but nice. However here is my issue: You cannot use a digital coupon there. What type of store would ask you to go home print a coupon on your printer and then come back to purchase your goods? That just sounds like a really really bad business decision. How many people who work have the time to go back home and print a coupon and then come back? They have to be losing money on that one. I think this should be fixed on a corporate level. I'm totally disappointed. Did I mention it was my birthday coupon? The manager was there but seemed not empowered to help. Very outdated systems per usual of Sedona. read more

I can still find small town America at this place. It's a traditional, old school type hardware store packed, literally to the ceiling with every imaginable item you could possibly need for your house or yard. I love the tight, narrow aisles and the wide variety of merchandise they offer. The folks that work here are always readily available to help. With their hi-tech wireless radio system, they are able to talk to each other in the various departments to check stock or assist customers in finding what they need. Some stores just have a great vibe and this is one of them. Over the years, I've probably been able to find about 90% of what I needed. Sure, the prices are more than Home Depot or Walmart but I'll spend $8 in gas driving to Cottonwood to save a dollar. They also have a loyalty program which sends me $5 discount cards toward $25 future purchases which is pretty cool too. read more

You can always (always) get help quickly, and from someone who seems genuinely happy to answer whatever question you might have and help you find whatever you might need. The staff are great; and yes everyone wears masks; even though it must be terrible 8 hours a day- staff has been super through Covid- keeping inventory in as much as humanely possible and getting it to the shelf quickly. Kim, the manager is excellent with customer service, & goes above and beyond to accommodate his customers. We bought an outdoor patio heater that had two problems & two loose unaccountable screws. We called the manufacturer who was willing to send the replacement parts, but they were back ordered, & we would have had to wait six weeks for them! Kim special ordered us a new unit, had it built and delivered, but it doesn't stop there. The delivery man took the time to make sure the unit worked at our house, like it did at the store. We're extremely pleased with the superior customer service Kim provided us. They say Ace is the place, but it's got to be Kim's Ace in particular, and not just any Ace! Kim's crew is also excellent, everyone is always SO nice to us there, as we frequent that Ace. read more

On October 13th I attempted to purchase a refill for my propane tank. After taking my credit card, I was told by the lady cashier to wait in the parking lot where I stood in the hot sun for half an hour. I went back in and was again told to wait, which I did for 10 more minutes. Finally I went back and retrieved my card and left. At no time did the clerk attempt to apologize or offer an explanation for the extended delay. I will be taking all my future hardware business to Pro Build or Home Depot until the owners of this store properly train their staff. ---Steve read more

Panic stricken when my door wouldn't lock, I went to my "go to place" for all things hardware. Danny was helping me and he said no you don't want to use WD-40 you want to use Lock-Ease. He showed me where and how to use it and bingo...works perfectly for 3 bucks instead of calling a locksmith! Bought a pressure regulator for irrigation at ACE that leaked and didn't work correctly... Returned the item, but they wouldn't give me a refund... Said it was used. Of course it was used, that is how I found out it didn't work. Was told by an unfriendly guy in plumbing when I bought the item that I could return the regulator if it didn't work. Next time, I'll go to Home Depot...they always take returns. WARNING...don't try to return things to ACE Hardware in Sedona. I spend hundreds of $ per year at this store, I guess they don't care about keeping loyal customers. I will only shop there if I am desperate or need inexpensive screws. read more
