There is quite a turn over with regard to opthalmologists. I was going to have cataract surgery, however, I got no pre-surgical consultation, or instructions. No one called to schedule a specific time for my surgery; as late as a few days before the surgery was to be done. The lack of professionalism, the constant frustration, plus no pre-surgical consultation made up my mind to cancel my cataract surgery and move on.

Sure enough, the glasses I had (and the three different lenses sold to me between two different locations) couldn't improve my vision, because there's nothing wrong with my vision. Here, they're not in the business of selling designer frames and disposable contacts, and the difference is like night and day. I just wish I had come sooner. That's not all, though. Just the other morning, I noticed blood in one of my eyes. Alarmed, I called and explained what was going on. Two and a half hours after my call, I was in the doctor's chair, getting checked out. Lucky me, it wasn't a big deal. But, knowing I could call with a concern like that and be seen so quickly was really comforting. Need glasses? Get them at one of the boutiques in Milford. I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes (the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning to spread). Everything was closing, including the surgery center in Portage. I was the last patient for more than 2 months. That meant my second eye surgery was cancelled. However, I was able to contact them if I needed to and get answers to any questions during that time. Dr. Joseph Doe had done my husband's cataract surgery and he has been very happy with the results. When the surgery center reopened, I was contacted immediately for my second cataract surgery. I am now on my third day after surgery. I have been back to be checked to make sure everything is healing properly. I am THRILLED with my 20/20 vision! Only inexpensive reading glasses required! Dr. Joseph Doe is friendly, kind, and reassuring as is everyone in that office! I'm 79 years old. I have NEVER SEEN BETTER IN MY LIFE! I highly recommend these folks.

When I drove from Lansing to the scheduled consult, at his Jackson office, the receptionist told me he was out of town. I requested a call back from the Dr. once he returned, no call. Then, I followed up and was told he is aware that I requested a call. The Dr. and his office is either arrogant or incompetent, either way I would not reccommend becoming a patient unless you want to pay your hard earned money for a number of disappointments. Advice to Dr. Sampson and Staff: Please be respectful of your customers time and feelings. I took time from work to discusss correcting a procedure that didn't turn out well. I made a sincere attempt to develop a relationship with you and your office by going back for a correction to my first procedure. You could care less!! A Doctor patient relationship should be a transaction of trust. You broken mine for no good reason. I am very disappointed and hurt!
