I've walked past here many times and as it seems so dark inside I've viewed it as less inviting then the many other places to have a drink along Upper Street. However, I popped in with a friend on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised.
Firstly, it's quite small inside, with only a few sofas and 4 bar stools, with not much space to stand, so if you can't get a seat or if the weather's not nice and you can't stand outside, I would give it a miss. However, if you are a cocktail drinker (like me!) and you manage to snag one of the comfy sofa's during happy hour - you are in for a treat! The cocktail list is not hugely extensive, but all the old faves plus a couple of newbies are on the list, and at £3 a drink during happy hour, you can't go wrong. The quality of ingredients were nothing to quibble over, and if you opt for a martini (or similar) cocktail, you can't accuse the management of watering down the drinks!
The atmosphere is very chilled, with low music and and no pretention. My only complaint? The bar staff can take an age to mix a cocktail, so I recommend getting to the bar with time to spare before the end of happy hour. read more
